I love RUclips even with the stupid ads I get to see awesome stuff like this Mary/Rhoda reunion show on Rosie..I have to say I'm team Rhoda/Valerie although Marys great too ..Rip to both these beautiful ladies!!
In 1970 CBS had very little hope for this show. They originally had given it a crummy time slot but then out of respect for Ms Moore, they decided to give the show a chance by putting in a more favorable Saturday night time slot.
And the game shows Mary referred to such as Who Wants To Be A Millionaire, marked the decline of amazing tv productions like the MTM show. And then they were replaced by reality tv shows which were even less costly, and producing a whole new generation of talentless 'celebrities'. Mary was absolutely correct, production companies found new ways to reduce costs, all at the expense of quality entertainment.
@@evalehde3869....I expected something better, considering the time in between. I mean, 23 years is ample time to write a really top notch story. It wasn't a hastily tossed together script like that God awful second SATC movie, which was pushed out quickly as a money grab.
In early 1974, $35 worth of makeup got you more than one or two items. Not a bagful but enough items to feel you didn't get ripped off paying $32 for a mascara or $25 for lipliner. Back then, upscale department store makeup counters were the closest things to a Sephora.
I'm too young to remember Mary Tyler Moore but I loved Rhoda when I was a kid my friend Caroline also loved that show I loved the actresses that played her mother and her sister
The best part of the Mary and Rhoda movie was when they met on the street and reminisced with each other. Other then that the movie did not make any sense at all. No mention of Lou, Murray or Phyliss and they were all still alive when they filmed this. A big disapointment in my opinion!
Many people had similar reactions to the movie. It’s not a MTM show reunion. However, if it developed into a series I’m sure some classic characters would show up. Another thought is that the movie was about their friendship. Many times people you worked with (over twenty years ago) just don’t come up in conversation. 🤔
Wow, how technology has advanced!! VHS tapes (1:24) don't even exist anymore. You can't even find a VHS player anymore unless you go to a garage sale or find one in somebody's attic
You are correct, video tapes have become obsolete. However, as a collector, I still have VHS cassettes and a couple of VCRs as well. Along with streaming apps and 4K discs. 🙂
She's spot on. These reality shows nowadays do not demand classy actings or requires great scripts! The MTM show is the best, none of these reality shows can even come close to it!
What are you talking about Mary did quite a bit after her show ended, she stared in a ton of made for tv movies and quite a few feature films as well and I believe she also did some theater, she had a long successful career.
wow, seriously??? she should’ve stayed home and rescheduled if she was so sick. we grew up wanting to be her, it’s awfully disappointing to see how little regard she had for Rosie and her staff.
The movie was awful, and it was a huge mistake not to bring back the old life to these characters at all. It could have been both new challenges while also paying homage to the old characters and bringing a few back here and there as guest stars. Instead it was critically panned and never went further and neither actress did much of note in the 00s and beyond sadly.
Not really. Mary did more critically acclaimed TV movies and was nominated for Emmy's plus her books. Valerie did several shows on Broadway and I believe was nominated and won a Tony award. But I do agree the movie was not good. Very boring 😴
The movie did not work. It had moments of sweetness and pathos but the rest of the cast flopped. Ebersole was good and would have been a good Phyllis-ish person. It should have been a surprise party for Rhoda given by Mary. Would Mary finally give a good party??
It ignored too much of the other characters, most notably Brenda but also obviously Ida, Lou, Ted, Murray, Georgette - just let us know how they are and what they're up to in the late 90s. Even if you're too cheap to pay for cameos.
I’m behind. Gotta watch this movie. I absolutely adored Mary and Valerie.
I'm sure you'll love it!

Mary Tyler Moore show the best show of the 70 s
Or, really since the advent of television.
God I miss this .... The good ole days
They cast this show perfectly. I can't imagine anyone else in those roles.

Love Rosie O Donnell, I love your Show, She so funny.❣️❣️❣️. 🇦🇺🇦🇺🇦🇺
Now Mary and Rhoda are together forever.
Mary, Valeria , just love them both together ❣️❣️❣️ 🇦🇺🇦🇺
This aired two days after I was born. Just in time for the Mary and Rhoda movie 😁
Which was awful!

@@msr1116 I just wished they had kept it lighthearted and funny, like the show. They got way too serious and it was dull.

I wish it would of gone to series.

Don’t know what you’re missing. Got love growling up in the 70’s
Loved Mary Tyler Moore
So sad they’re gone 😞.
IMAGINE.......if she were coughing like that, right now, in 2021........
Never saw that. Now I wanna.

Mary was sort of right. TV now become reality TV.

Man, Mary is as warm as a shard of ice.
She said she has the flu and was trying not to get anyone sickl
Instead you had Rhoda as your nemesis. Masquerade as best friend.
god bless america
Mary is similar to Jane Fonda here
We will not see their like again...
It's very sad that Mary didn't do much after her show. She did more most was canceled.
So sad we’ll never see shows like this again. I grew up in the 70s and was such a good time!

Valerie was a much more likable person than Mary.
Mary Tyler Moore had a very tragic life. It hardened her. But there was only one Mary!
She’s a little stiff here but in other interviews she’s amazing. Met Valerie a couple of times and yeah she’s great too!
Thank you for everything Chris! Here’s a little something for fun: ruclips.net/video/ZFgro4GnnT4/видео.html

Dang, that Mary lady was a boomer before the boomers were boomers.
Didn’t like the film at all

@@adamp6320 It was garbage - very insulting to them and very disappointing for us.
Thinking back on what MTM said about game shows makes me wonder what she thought about the takeover of reality TV.
