As a young man at 6'2" I had a 69 Europa. Once I got used to it , getting in was no problem at all. God, that car was FUN! Now at age 72 I'd love to have another one.
Looks like a squashed van. Really? I think the Europa is stunning. There was one in my home town in North Yorkshire when I was growing up and it is still today my favourite Lotus, I just love it!!
The Europa is one of those cars that looks good at the front and as you get near the rear, you realize the designer went blind half way through. It begins looking like an Elan, but by the time you get to the back, it's turned into a porch.
Any Europa will need U-joints and rear stub axel bearings.. I put about 600,000 miles combined on 2 of them in the 70s.. The Renault was fine if not over-reved, with Hermes manifold, and Weber 40 or 45 DCOE, and long tube headers.
Wow prices have changed since this video. If you can find an original Europa ( not messed with) now you are looking at over 30,000 pounds. They are brilliant but now very rare.
I loved this car when I was a little kid. Promised myself I'd own one someday. I got a chance to sit in one on a used car lot when I was around 14. At about 5'-10" I was already too tall for it. My head was against the roof and I couldn't move my foot off the firewall to step on the clutch. Why did it have to be so damn tiny. I call BS on the 6'-2" guy who claims he drove one.
Anyone else remember a Lotus Europa that was fitted out with the 3.5 litre Rover V8 engine? I remember performance figures were astounding. Such as changing up into 3rd gear at 120mph!
I'm 59. Been to bed with lots of beautiful women. X Pro DJ. X BBC. Never been inside my dream... likely never will, and by the way, the falsehood here is your doubt that this isn't true.
@@anokgamer396 Thanks. That was written during a melancholic reminiscing sentimental session 3 years ago while downing a few too many sherbets and although I can't recall writing it I do see that it makes sense in a weird way! If you want more of the same insanity then check out Second Side Up here on RUclips and on the BBC iPlayer - you might make the connection?! Stay well by being 6 feet apart instead of 6 feet under (yes, another of my ridiculous thoughts!!!) Regards. Mark.

Better do yoga.
Better get it soon rather than dream about it. Dreams wear out at this age.
weird enough...i like europa...i think it's beautiful!
One of my fave cars from when I first saw one as a small child!!
This guy is nuts. The Renault powered Europa was gorgeous and by far the best looking Lotus of its era.

I have done over 3K miles in the last year in my S2 Europa, fantastic little cars!
Mrs. 'Peel' drove an Elan in the old and great classic TV show the Avengers
The Elan featured in "The Girl Who Was Death" in the "Prisoner"

iTheGeek I know now why they say adults lose their imagination. ;)
iTheGeek Should I have called it a deck? A coffin? hah.
iTheGeek It's a Lotus Coffin.
iTheGeek See. It *is* a coffin!
iTheGeek Haha. I called the car a coffin - I don't give a flying fuck about the dead guy.
Now the S2 Europa is very rare in UK. 1969 manufacture there are only a handful left.

great car and vid! do you know if someone 6ft 2in can fit in there properly?
As a former Europa owner (sigh) and 6'2"... yes, with effort and pain involved.
Sure can-I'm 6'2''-it's very Zen (you become one with the car LOL) but not claustrophobic
Roll on Summer
Does the Elite not have the backbone chassis? Says first used on the Elan.
Pay tribute to Lotus by buying an NA Miata. A great sports car.
why not totally capitulate and get a Corolla.
Jérémy klarson??very young??
The elan looked like a toy.
👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
👍
I have a Europa barn find only 1,800 miles.
Nice, but I suspect it was barn’d at 1800 miles for some mechanical failure.
Best used car advice is don't. Buy an Elan
