Wow. This video has everything! Folklore, history, abandoned and mythical ruins, sexy Scottish man, humor, art, Labyrinth and LOTR references…it’s great!!! Thank you for sharing this!!!
How much do I owe you for this review? Not sure I can afford it! Haha glad you enjoyed it, I went all in with the editing on this one as the adventure was just too much fun and I tried my best to get that feeling in! Thank you very much for the comment and feedback, it makes it all worthwhile!
I just happened across this video and I must say I loved it! Ive subscribed-liked-notifications and will be looking forward to more! And your rendering of the castle was gorgeous. I hope to visit Scotland one day 😊
Aw, Ellie you’ve made my day! I’m no professional but I put a lot of work into these videos whilst juggling a lot - so to hear someone genuinely was entertained makes it all worthwhile!
Think I start creating the next video tomorrow… Lost my patience on Scotland’s apocalyptic never-ending weather, so I’ll just battle the wind and rain, possibly snow. Thanks for the support 🫡
How did I miss this? What an explore! I love all the LOTR and Labyrinth references! Looks like an interesting place to spend the night. Maybe when it's warmer tho.
Thanks Sarah!! ❤️ YT is a bit silly with how it recommends videos me thinks! I’m really enjoying using film clips to express the real feel of places and what goes through your head, it’s hard to completely film the experience you want when you’re a one man band, so I really hope it works! Next video should be posted tonight all going well, it’s been a while - it’s a bit different 🫣
@@martinsodyssey I think you do an excellent job with just you and your camera. And I think the film clips do give a good feeling of what the experience is like as you wind your way through places like this. Great addition, in my opinion! Can't wait for the next go!
Thank you, I lied to you, latest video just dropped now. It’s a bit longer, just shy of half an hour, so wait till you have time for a glass of wine and a coffee! It’s got a slight documentary twist to this explore!
Thanks Sue, this was genuinely my first time discovering and learning about this castle, I couldn’t believe it’s on my doorstep and I didn’t know it existed with such fabulous folklore. I don’t understand how school history lessons overlook local history.
Isn’t the internet great (sometimes). I live 30 miles from Yester Castle and you 10,000miles, and yet we both learn about its existence at the same time! I haven’t been to Australia (yet!) but a good friend of mine endlessly says how fantastic it is!
Thank you! I have a new found appreciation for how much effort starting a channel and creating content is, but comments like this make it worthwhile! ✌️
Honestly, knowing the story/folklore/history makes it a very special place to visit, my favourite place that I never knew existed (for most of my life!). It’s a must visit.
I live in a neighbouring town. But everywhere around Gifford, and Yester area I find truly creepy. There’s always a feeling of being watched in Gifford, daytime and especially at night. It’s a beautiful place, but very very eerie.
I must admit, I didn’t spent too much time in the village beyond driving through trying to find a suitable parking space and get some quick footage but at the time the Goblin Ha’ Hotel appeared out of business giving slight ghost town vibes. I think it would be a perfect setting for a rural Scottish “Shaun of Dead” come “Hot Fuzz” script. The thing that threw me the most was the only signage for the Castle itself was negative signage, “no access to castle from here”, or “no parking for castle here”, but never a sign for where to park or which direction to go. It felt very uninviting, given I failed to actually find the castle on my first attempt, circling the woods semi-lost, I did feel like someone didn’t want me there! And despite not actually meeting many locals, I got an unwanted vibe from the locals! But it’s a truly atmospheric place, I felt like I was being watched the whole time. Probably the folklore surrounding it plays on your mind. Absolutely agree beautiful and eerie! Thanks for the comment ✌️
Hi martin was down there today couldn't find castle will try again another weekend with your guidance on this great video thanks for putting this up 👍 👏 😊
This is my best adventure yet and I hope you enjoy, if you do - please comment, like and subscribe to help my wee channel grow!
