Back in the 80's I had a 52 reissue and I liked it okay. This one seems similar but better. Teles are my favorite guitars. No matter what else I play, I always come back to my Tele. This one sounds gorgeous!
Just ordered a used 1951 American Vintage 2 Telecaster today, will have it in a few days. We must have similar tastes in guitar, because I think we both own the 70th Anniversary Esquire, which is also an awesome re-issue. I love the necks on those early Telecasters.
That is such an archetype tone, man, just beautiful. Where rock & roll truly began. I can't help but get an image of Luther Perkins (Johnny Cash) when I hear and see that guitar.
What a gem. But today's comment is not about the guitar, but about you. You're a proper great bloody bloke mate and possibly one of the best players, if not on earth, certainly the best from my town. Thanks for always sharing with us bro
I'm not a big Tele fan but you were clearly having a great time with this one, and you made it sound really good. I could be persuaded to buy one of these, Telecaster fan or not.
I have upgraded my tele. I went to Sportsmart and got a baseball bat. Leo got it right the last time. Except for the pickups. l'm putting a Bumhucker in the neck and a Chevy gearbox in the bridge. Can't beat that. I also got some dice stickers for the case. Can't wait to hear it. I need an amp.
The funny thing is, I tried one a couple of months ago, and this is the only time I can compare myself to Keith Richards, as I felt it felt too new. Gorgeous to play, but found my hand sticking to the back of the neck as my hands warmed up. Nothing that a bit of 'self-relicing' wouldn't cure I guess! But, what a sound! Even my clubby fingers helped in making a glorious noise!
Here's a pro tip that will solve that problem: don't use steel wool; get a grey Scotch-Brite pad and use that to knock some of the gloss off the back of the neck. You can't go wrong this way since it is very gradual and impossible to take too much off without noticing.
I wouldn't know how to act having a true US strat or tele. Played a tele I don't remember the actual build name but was Fender US had a push pot in the volume that gave a boost. It was white and absolutely amazing played through a AC 30 for the first and only time. I was then sold on teles. Hahah.
I’m glad they went with the modern switching/tone/volume control wiring instead of that wacky system the Tele was originally designed with. Just like the AVII ‘61 Strat has a modern 5-way switch. These are fantastic guitars now that Fender has ironed out the QC issues that apparently plagued the early runs.
I'd love to hear someone do a shootout between one of these and a China made Squier CV Butterscotch Tele. I'd also love to feel a 7 1/4 radius U neck. I have a 50 year old Kay "Les Paul" with a 7 1/4 radius soft V neck and it's the most comfortable neck I've ever played.
Thanks! That's a mixture of Sun Plate reverb and a little Plex Delay in parallel. I'll refine that preset and upload it later today, perhaps with a video demo, so you can try it yourself ... if you're an Axe-FX III owner. Cheers.
Sounds very similar to the Broadcaster reissue you reviewed last year. I bought one of those partly based on you review. How would you say they compare?
Yes, they're not that far removed. The Broadcaster has a lighter shade of Blonde if I'm not mistaken and the 9.5" radius. I kept that one so will have to dig it and some others out for a shootout.
The broadcaster actually has a 7.25 radius as well. I was lucky enough to find a new one weighing under 7lbs just several months ago and absolutely love it. As far as sound is concerned it’s as classic as can be.
I couldn't say because I haven't tried the Prof. version. The playing experience is likely to be slightly different, however: Different neck profiles, fret size, fingerboard radius... important things.
@@BrettKingmanI’m torn between this and your review of the 70th broadcaster…(I’ve found one locally for nice deal.) Does one edge the other in your opinion?
Hi there Brett Nice guitar Brett can l ask you something it's about a fender supersonic 22v The limited edition one there is a guy who is selling one and he says it used to belong to you just wondering if they are any good and your history with it Thanks David ☺️
Hi David. If it's the same amp I used to own, it was sent over from the US via Pro Guitar Shop in Portland, who I used to work for. They wished me to use it for their pedal demo videos at the time. It is a Ltd Edition for sure and was a seriously great amp. I only sold it because I went to Fractal for my amp needs but I still miss it. Go for it.

It's a shame the AVII series guitars are so heavy. Fender seems to have abandoned making guitars at the $2K price point lighter. It's tragic because otherwise these models are great in every other way. (The average weight of a blackguard Telecaster in the 1950's, which is what this model is based on, was 7.3 lbs.).
@@BrettKingman I got it from Nacho's blackguard book. He says he recorded weights from a representative sample of '50's era blackguard Telecasters and the average weight was 7.3lbs.
Worrying about the playability on a 7.25” radius neck is one of the biggest loads of hogwash I’ve ever heard. As if John Mayer and Jimi Hendrix would play guitars that inhibit their playing 😂
Often imitated, never duplicated. The tele that rules over all teles. Best demo of this Tele.
Absolutely what a Tele should sound like 👍
I did purchase one & I am thrilled I did.

have had this guitar for a week this far, so purely outstanding that it's scary.
This sounds really great with your sound system and playing, I have Pine Squire somewhat like it, great sounding guitar.
I love my pine Classic Vibe Tele. Way too good for a guitar at that price. It’s insane.
What a beauty. That's just what I want in a Tele.
Thank you Brett. What a guitar, bloody beautiful sound, and beautiful playing. Just ordered one from Mooloolaba Music yesterday. Thanks again mate.

Nice! Love the grain on that body!
Yeah, I was pretty taken by that grain too. It's a two-piece body, but the seam is hard to find. Cheers, Brett!
Thanks I believe I’m going to purchase one. 😁

I heard if you take 8000 grit sandpaper to it for a minute it’ll be great with no visible wear
@@squirtcobain477 I must admit I thought that maybe a little wire wool over the back would probably help.

What years were the early runs?
Hi Brett, man!
Wonderful....aren't they !!
I keep reading that the neck radius will make it feel odd to this of us who have only ever played modern guitars. Any thoughts?

A fair challenge! I'll consult with the Fender Australia team and see if it can be done. Agreed on the comfort of 7.25" radius - I love them too.

Haha! You're right, of course. I've barely put it down in a week.
Beautiful demo! Would you say these are on par with the American Original line? Cheers!
Yep, on par for sure. Real difference to me is the vintage fingerboard radius of 7.25" vs 9.5" on the Originals.
Would you say the vintage ii sounds that much better then the professional version?
I couldn't say because I haven't tried the Prof. version. The playing experience is likely to be slightly different, however: Different neck profiles, fret size, fingerboard radius... important things.
The differences are in modern playability features vs faithful replication of the 51.
I have the 51 tele I can't imagine a guitar being any easier to play .
