My Work From Home Office and YouTube Desk Setup: A Work In Progress

- This is my Work From Home and RUclips Editing Desk Setup. Moving into a new house gave me a blank canvas to make the room exactly how I want it. It also made me think really hard about what I really want in this space. So I spent half of this year getting this desk almost exactly how I want it. There's a little asterisk there for a reason. So, for today, let me give you a tour around it. It might give you ideas for your own desk or room. Either way, let's get started.

I put these Felt Right felt panels against the wall with double-sided tape. These panels aren't super thick, so they only help a little bit when it comes to echos. This desk is one of my favorite pieces in this room. My mother-in-law had a nice butcher block countertop that she no longer had a use for. I offered to take it off her. She offered to stain the countertop and seal it, so I took her up on that offer and it looks great. Then, I needed legs. I bought the Fully Jarvis standing desk legs instead. It took a good hour to get up and running, and required just a phillips head screwdriver and a power drill. There's this Grovemade monitor stand that creates more space on the desk and carves out a nice nook on my desk. And their desk tray slides perfectly into the designated slot. I keep all of my external storage here, SSDs, HDDs, SD cards. The top tray usually holds my M1 12.9in iPad Pro or M1 Macbook air when I'm not using them. Then, I have another Lifx Z led light strip on the back of the Grovemade monitor stand. I'm also using a grovemade felt mousepad that I think contrasts nicely with the desk, along with their leather mousepad on top. I needed a good video calling setup. So, I have a shure SM7B connected to a Focusrite Scarlett 2i2. To minimize cable clutter, I bought an angled usb c cable so the scarlett 2i2 can sit close to the side of the monitor stand, and so the xlr cable can go down the back of the desk instead of taking up some space in the front. I'm using a Blue compass Mic arm because I like that you can easily hide the XLR cable inside the frame of the ARM, and I like how minimal the mic arm looks.
Let's now move onto the monitors. One is an older 4k monitor from LG that they no longer sell, I'm planning to replacing the stand with a black monitor arm soon. Next to it is the LG 27GL83A-B 27 Inch Gaming Monitor,
The chair I'm using is a Herman Miller Aeron chair. These things normally retail for around a 1000$ US. Obviously the price makes me want to panic, but I bought mine used from an office liquidator site, for 400 something dollars. And this thing has been the best office chair I've had durability wise, I'm over a year in, and noticed very little wear. So, really I can't recommend the Aeron chair enough.
This room had to look good enough that if a guest walked into it, they wouldn't think it looks off compared to the rest of the house, the room has to be aesthetic enough to use as a backdrop for RUclips videos and has enough space to store all my camera equipment without it looking a total mess. Both aesthetically pleasing and functional, I can quickly start a video from this desk with minimal setup time, like I did in my last video, or be the overachiever on work calls with fantastic video and audio quality.
I like how this turned out. Наука
Idk what it is but I love seeing the desks of RUclipsrs. It just looks so high tech and fancy!

@@ashishyadav9839 I don’t think so. But good try.
Those adhesive cable loops blew my mind. What a great idea! I wish you had linked to them though.
JTW Desk Setup (feat. Double sided tape)
Lots of awesome ideas here! Def got some next steps for my setup.
Your panels on the wall...for both sound and weight (which is your biggest problem with the falling off) I recommend using foam board instead of shiplap. It takes a bit of effort for the cutting to make it look like your shiplap but...if you use foam board (cut to shape 1st) and glue the fabric on (leaving an exposed area in the back) and then use the command strips, it will work much better. Just a little tip (budget friendly too).
you are a good dude. very calming watching this. much love
i look your desk setup.... I will be upgrading mine by next year
i love this setup, really clean !
Jimmy, you've grown into a very good youtuber! Keep up the good work!
It’s spooky how similar this setup is to mine. Great video!
Nice setup!! And your explanation is good.
I built a similar mount for my camera using a clamp + tripod extender + ballhead. I have one of those cheap $30-40 monitor arms, and I clamped mine to the arm.
Great video I recommend spray painting your white monitor stand black until you get your mount!
Great setup!
Nice, gg man. Also your a very underrated RUclipsr
Great video!
Nice work home office desk setup.
My dream set up
Amazing setup. I am trying a similar setup and I have two Macbooks. I am trying to find out how to use them both with a single monitor. Could you please elaborate on the USC-c hub you are using and how is it connected to use both the laptops? It would be really a big help Thanks.
Umm. Jimmy. I’ve never seen your videos before until now-coincidentally while I’ve been struggling with setting up my new home office space.
It’s crazy but I swear we have similar set ups! The orientation of things around the room in relation to where the window and the main door is (work desk, 2nd desk, armchair in the corner). Except my 2nd desk is technically a letter desk. Just thought about how funny that is!
On another note - I’m at the Buyer’s Remorse section and I could already tell you were going to mention the Felt Right pads since you first talked about them 🤣.
I have to get rid of a 27" Monitor, scanner and printer this week, Scaling down to an iMac, a single combo printer, speakers on one side (I'm deaf in one ear) and my phone, so anyway I know regardless of how I put everything on my cheap Ikea desk I know it's going to still look like %#%. Oh it might look good for a day, if I'm lucky.
Awesome Review ⚡ NICE
10:37 the desk was a little blown out from the light but that was a cool shot! how'd you do the camera movement?
very nice set up..i like bro
whats the name of those lights hanging under the book shelf? you have a cool and cozy setup!
Thinking about getting an extra desk, one for my job and the other to create content | gaming | music.

Awesome setup man! Where did you get that white fake plant
Hey Jimmy, I was wondering what do you do for work besides RUclips?
you should fix those cable that can be seen under the monitor riser
What’s the width and length of the desktop/butcher block?
Do you have a link to the Anker hub?
our lockdown is over imma cry

Simple and clean. Can't imagine trying to work off of two different machines.
Grovemade =😱😱
Uhm, so ... I know this is gonna be hard to hear but ... the hue play lights in the shelves behind you as well as the lightstrip at the desk ... well, they flicker on camera.
I know, calm down, it's ok, there is probably a fix for it. Just wanted to mention it ... so you see it ... and can't unsee it. :P
Honestly though, no setup is ever perfect. I've come to the conclusion that good enough is just that. It's good enough. Don't worry about it. ;)
Really Nice Studio Setup! Hope to one day get one! Sadly my studio is just my laptop and a plastic chair :P
