  • Does your pedalboard really need a power brick like the 1 SPOT Pro?
Truetone owner Bob Weil (inventor of the 1 SPOT) gives a detailed look into why a 1 SPOT Pro is a "must-have' item for many guitarists.
He also gives a full run-down of 1 SPOT Pro features and examples of the quiet effectiveness of these power supplies. "Power-hungry" pedals? No problem! We have you covered! If you have questions not addressed here, please call us at 931-487-9001 or email support@truetone.com
NOTICE: Please note at 12:45 in this video that 350 mA was based on what we thought was accurate information gathered online. Using our new mA Meter, which we developed over a year after this video was originally made, we found that the Line 6 M9 actually pulls around 550 mA. However, it can easily be powered by the 9v AC output on the CS12, or one of the higher 9v DC mA outputs on either the CS12 or CS7.

24v can be made by using a voltage doubler cable (TVD) and switching one of the 9v to 12v. 15v is not common. Some 15v can operate on either 12 or 18v. Check with the maker.

I’ve never been a pedal guy. In all my 45 years of playing, it was always guitar into amp, with the occasional wah pedal. But, a few months back I purchased a single pedal, a Wampler Dual Fusion and since then I’ve become hooked! That pedal led too a Wampler Gearbox, Faux Spring reverb, an Ethereal, and a Boss SD-1. I’m sure they’ll be MANY more, as I just purchased a Ceriatone ODS. (Dumble clone - Heavenly!!!) I plan on creating an entire board just for that amp, and the other pedal board I mentioned above goes along with my “magical” Marshall JMP #2204. (early version of JCM 800) and I’m telling ya’, everyone who plays that amp wants to buy it. It has something that the others do not. 😎
So, instead of running 9v batteries and having some pedals that only take wall wart power, I decided on two CS-7’s to power all my power hungry goodies and I must say, I’m really impressed at just how quiet my pedals are now. It’s a night and day difference! 🔥🔥🔥
So, yes folks, I am now a believer and Truetone has another convert!
Believe the hype, as these are terrific! Especially for the price! A simple no-brainer…
    Best! ✌🏼

Just ordered a CS12. Bob is a sincere, very nice guy. He helped me almost 15 years ago with an issue on a pedal he had designed for another company. Gracious and caring. Although I don't use many of his pedals, great respect for his business practices.

This power supplies solved a huge issue for me. Currently, I am running all my 9vdc pedals with a One Spot and then my 4th gen Digitech Whammy with it's own separate power supply. I also intend to buy a Nova Delay, which needs the 12v just like the pedal you have displayed in the video. So that made me worry about having to run three power bricks. With this power brick, I can run all my pedals and only have to worry about using one main power cable. Thanks for the innovation. This is definitely my next buy!

Very helpful video. The CS7 probably can handle everything I could dig up using a couple of daisy chains and isolated supplies for any question mark pedals. A new overdrive pedal was generating noise on a One Spot setup... I suspect it’s the “soft switch” it uses.

A great video, and great products!
I already own a CS-6 which I used to power a complete NUX pedal board, and it's amazing how well it works, I'm impressed with the quality and completely sold on these power supplies!
I am currently working on building a massive Fender pedal board using most of the pedals on the current line that Fender offers, along with older, discontinued pedals from Fender. When it's complete, there will be a total of 18 pedals, including a loop switcher, and tuner.
I did speak with someone there a few days ago about this, and determined that I will be able to use a CS-12 with two V189 adapters to give me 11 outputs from the CS-12, but I will still have to daisy chain some of the pedals on power cables. to supply power to all of them. On your site, the only daisy chain cables I see are meant to be used with the 1 Spot. Do you have daisy chain cables for any of the power bricks? If not, Can you recommend someplace where I might find these? I would like to power this board with just one brick if possible.
    Thank you.

Looking to build a new pedal board (or rebuild my current one) but I have some newer digital pedals in the mix so I decided to look into Isolated Power Supplies in order to keep things quiet and also needed a PS that had high current rating for those digital pedals and future proofing. I looked at the Voodoo Labs units (I own some of their stuff already) but was turned off by the lack of total current draw supply and regional AC power models, unlike your Truetone 1 Spot Pro 12 CS12 which I read is world voltage / input switchable, a brilliant touch by the way and one that really sung it for me on top of the max current available and multiple output voltage options in the mix. Can't wait for it to arrive so that I can get to building everything. Congratulations on a well thought out design man! I already two standard OneSpots for daisy chaining so I know your stuff is top shelf.

Just got the CS12 tonight…for a second I had the red cable running to my Dirty Little Secret 18v 5ma. It fit so looked just like a length difference…but just to be careful I made sure to use the others by size and not use the red cable…it looks like a normal with no brick…just the red seem better to point out 18v only. But I’m not sure given online info…says you can use all the others in the bag. But many are confused to use the red cable on a 9v or 18v plug at all. Better safe than sorry!

Great video and info - thanks and will likely be buying a CS12. Any word on how "quiet" the CS7 and CS12 are from a power perspective? I was thinking of getting a couple of Strymon pedals and already have two pedals that can support 18v (but never used the 18v option as I currently don't have an 18v supply :)

I've built the last two of my client's boards with Truetone - a CS6, CS12, and another CS6 powered board is on deck. I'll be building a board for myself with a CS12 very soon. Still an awesome product and product line after almost ten years.

Just arrived today. I like the design for the most part. I wasn't super thrilled that it only has 9 usable outputs without step down voltage converters at $15 a piece. I wish you guys had just stuck that inside the enclosure instead of hitting up consumers for the extra use.
But other than that, this thing is sweet.

This is great for value. I thought it cost more than $200 but it is actually affordable. The color coded cables are awesome. I wish each inputs has its own light that could tell (maybe color changes or it dims) me if I’m powering a pedal under mA. I have a considerable cheap power brick that does that but doesn’t power my whole pedal board sufficiently. So maybe when making version 2 of the cs pro, you could put that feature. I know the pro probably won’t even go under power but just saying. It doesn’t hurt to be there and also, the lights can provide a light source which looks cool in a light deprive settings.

I have, at the moment, 5 div. Source Audio peds, a TC Polytune, and I have headroom, with room being the operative...I've got so much power, and room on the board I'll have more than enough for the 5 or so peds more I'll be getting in the near future... one thing at a time here, the most important the power supply... Very interested in one of these. Do you know if the brackets fit in the Joyo RD-1 pedalboard (it’s very similar to a pedaltrain)?
Also, will the CS7 work well to power (digital: 2 x 300mA pedals, 1 x 100mA, 1 x 50mA off separate outlets) and 3 way daisy chain analog pedals off remaining outlets?
    Thanks

Wicked product. You mention each output can provide more than stated aslong as the total combined draw is less than the max rated mA output. In this case do you think powering a TC Helicon H1 vocal pedal with the CS7 would be fine? (12v 400mA)

I hope you notice my comment, but that last (red) when you said warning warning. Can i use 12 normal 9v pedals? or does 1 pedal have to be more than 18v to get the 12th spot? im buying this as soon as possible. Really really good review on the power suply!!

    • @TruetoneFX
      @TruetoneFX  8 лет назад

You cannot use 12 9v pedals unless you daisy chain off one of the 9v outputs. The CS12 has (9) 9v outputs. The (2) 18v and (1) 9v AC cannot be used with a 9v DC pedal.

I got a Pedaltrain Grande with 18 pedals on it. For a long time, I ran the entire board on 2-9v 1 spots and 1-18v 1 Spot with daisy-chain cables and it worked well. But some digital pedals found their way onto the board and I was getting noise and could not isolate the pedals. I bought 2 CS-12's mounted them beneath my board and the improvement was immediately obvious. Absolutely no noise, the delays in the FX loop sounded clearer, more hi fi. What drew me to the CS-12's was the variety of power options. I have some pedals that can operate on 9v, but the manufacturer told me that they sound better at 18v. My Earthquaker's Device "The Depths" sounds good in front of the amp at 9v, but sounds best when using it in the FX loop at 18v. I purchased a pedal and there were some issues. Their tech asked what power supply I was using and he said to switch to 12v, problem solved in two minutes. This is the kind of flexibility the CS-12 offers. Add in the price and it's a no brainer. I spent all this time and money on my pedals they need clean, reliable power.
I can highly recommend the CS-12, money well spent.

I bought a CS12 and I am very happy with it (and with the accessories). I just have one question: I understand that the power supply can provide (way) more mA than the label says (as long as the total amps needed don't exceed the maximum) and that you are required to label the outputs... but then why have 4 different labels (100, 250, 500 and 800 mA) ?
Oh and a request... could you hook up with AclamGuitars to create mounting brackets for their boards...?

I moved up to a huge practice board with 19 pedals and ended up with some serious noise issues. That was solved with two 1 Spot Pro CS 12 power bricks. It was an expensive investment, but well worth it. I can't praise Truetone enough, and am very happy with my 1 Spot. My only complaint, is why didn't they come with some stickers? • @TruetoneFX
      @TruetoneFX  6 лет назад +2

The DM4 would require the green CL6 converter, that is included, when using any of the 9v DC outputs. It changes both the polarity, and the plug size. If you have a CS12, you have the option of also power it using the 9v AC, output 12, using the special red cable without a converter of any kind.

My Hughes and Kettner Tubeman 2 requires 12V and 700mA, and when I flipped the switch to 12V and plugged it in, it didn't run the tube.. I'm afraid to put 18V into the tubeman, therefore currently using an original adapter.
Second question is how do you split 500mA output for several pedals? what do you use for it? I'm sorry for these questions, I'm a beginner in it.. I would appreciate your reply very much! Cheers!
