    I think about this when I'm on the bus just relaxing and everybody is on their phone. It's scientifically proven that it's hugely important to give ourselves brain breaks. I'm 32 so I haven't been used to technology on the go all my life, but man I think people stress out their minds with it sometimes - I need those slow waves, I need not to be entertained or informed at all times

    • @kichapi
      @kichapi 2 года назад +8

      I agree with this. We don't have to fill every minute of our lives with short phone breaks. Some of my family members are like this - they're preoccupied 24/7, yet they are still bored.
      We can also observe what's around us and give our eyes and minds some rest.

    • @larkfly9273
      @larkfly9273 2 года назад +5

      @@kichapi Thanks. I find it very interesting that you write that they are preoccupied, yet bored. That's saying something.
      And yes, exactly - we can observe and give ourselves the opportunity to realize, see, flirt, be surprised - a bit more 90's vibe :)

    • @narzon1
      @narzon1 2 года назад +2

      @@crystaldreams3978The life you had planned is not always the life that evolves. At some point you need to let go of the past to embrase the present and what the future brings. My city is in lockdown, we have been quarantined for a while at home. when I can only stay at home and with limited food and goods ( no delivery allowed), then i started to notice many things around me. I noticed that I can grow many vegetables with their roots, i can cook delicious food with recipes that I've never wanted to try, and I found things in lockers in wardrobes that have been forgotten. live in a conscious life brings life more possibilities.
    I am kind of enjoying the current quarantine situation when others are struggling with it.

    An interesting video to watch as a disabled person (I have autism, ADHD, and a learning disability). It gets me thinking about the conveniences I need vs the conveniences that I don't need. Some conveniences I need because it means I get to spend less energy on a task, so I have that extra energy to spend on more important tasks. Sometimes though, I want convenience for the sake of wanting to get a task done. I'll have to see where this takes me. Thank you.

    Loved this vlog! I've been on the planet awhile, and as I've aged I've seen life speeding up all around me. I agree, convenience comes at a cost. A wise, woman once said to me: when you find yourself waiting (at a doctor's office, at a red light, in an airport) be aware of your attitude. Say to yourself "I'm grateful for this break, for this time to be with myself." I use this attitude re-adjustment all the time - it works so well, even when I'm very tired.

    I'm so impressed at how succinctly you articulate these ideas (convenience is not the answer), I myself have been struggling to put these same ideas to words.
    I used to be single-mindedly focused on my work years ago, since then I've learned to cook , learned to forage, broadened my interests far beyond the one thing I used to care about. What I've realized is that all of that streamlining I did was really just choosing to be ignorant of the complexity of the world.
    You also mentioned briefly that oftentimes our convenience is built on someone else's inconvenience, which is itself an important topic I think. A while back I read a report on labor in the shrimp industry, and how certain parts of the industry rely on slave labor. Suicide among farmers in India and other areas around the world is also a shocking topic. I don't know what exactly to do about it yet, but this information doesn't sit well with me. Choosing to think about it is a good start, I'm certain the content you're producing here is helping others think twice about how they want to be in the world. Glad I found this channel.

    I couldn't agree more...and when you mentioned this friend of yours...it actually reminded me that although I used to be very sucess orientated ..I never sacrificed "all my private time" for it. I always used to at least try to leave some space for me during my day or at least to have a good sleep. I remember often being put down for it at work or among my friends ..and of course I felt guilty too...now I don't allow anybody to influence what I do during my free time, because : " life is not a race it's an art"...I love this quote😍

    Convenience is subjective. Solely dependent of one’s lifestyle and circumstances. For instance, I find it convenient to live in a city or town were the walk score is at least 80% to get to places without driving all the time. Another woman May find living far from the grocery store is a convenience because it allows her to get away from the chaos in the house for a bit so she can have some peaceful alone time for an hour or two.

    Thank you for not just talking about the commercialized 'slow living'! It's like you share my thoughts and ideas, in a much more interesting way of course!
    I am sure your videos are helping many to stop and take a look at everything around them, and encouraging them to take new and mindful decisions!
    Many blessings!

    The path of least resistance is usually the one desired cause it frees us up for other things. But all of the truly lasting experiences require work and are earned. Maybe it is time for a redefinition for the word convenience! 😎

    I think, the life,practices,habits,routine that you've been doing is for a people or a couple without children.dont get me wrong. i respect your decision of not having a child for now.i love how you portray your life to your audiences,calm and peaceful but sadly,this is not the reality for some people especialy those mother who struggle everyday taking care of their family.your life is what we dream to have but cant have because of everyday's obligations.But what i get from your video is relaxation,hope,and inspiration to move forward even though this life hits me hard.infact,i consider your video as a reward for me after a long day of work and taking good care of my son and my family.😊thank you and God Bless.

      As a childless adult who practices / enjoys much of this same lifestyle (though I am caring for both of my aging parents), it was all the mom's out there that came to my mind when I watched this video. I see you! You are doing the hardest, most important job in the world, for sure. Much love to all the mammas!

      Thank you so much ❤ I don't think it's realistic to follow anyone's exact lifestyle, but I just hope others find a way to embrace slow living lifestyle in their own version

    One of the most impactful RUclips channels I have found in a VERY long time. If not, maybe ever. Can't wait to dive into more and more of these videos and really get some food for thought.
