Let him fight someone like Doomsday who literally is just reborn stronger everytime you kill him and him with his zenkai boosts. An eternity of punching.....🙂crap..... i mentioned a DC character on a DBZ video *PUTS up Shields*
doomsday cant fly right? hes basically an overpowered porcupine hulk. he would be a tough one for goku, but goku instant transmission kamehameha would stop him
Super made me realize that. I always watched Z in English dub and it made Goku seem extremely heroic. Come Super, having to watch it in sub to catch up on the latest episodes, and I see Goku allows multiple universes to be destroyed just so that he can have a good fight. His carelessness turned out to be beneficial to everyone because the universe were getting destroyed anyways, but I would've never imagined that from the Goku I grew up with.
Goku is basically a drug-addict, if drugs were roughly human-sized, had fists, and could punch you in the face. He has to get his fix on, becomes incredibly agitated/unsatisfied if he doesn't, and eventually becomes bored with his average-dosages and moves on to heavier material over time. At first, everyone thought it was pretty harmless, because no one was getting directly hurt from it. That's completely changed with this tournament, however. Basically, someone needs to get this guy an intervention, and fast.
Kakarot is a true saiyan. His pride has become almost as apparent as my own. One day, I will step up for the sake of the universe and take Kakarot away somewhere to battle until the end of time, for he will NEVER be satiated and frankly, neither will I.
ligidk That's because lines are written differently while transposed over the same action. I'm excited how English dub is supposed to justify it when it comes to the parts where other universes are angry at Goku for being a power whore.
Asad the fanboy kinda he just got turned into a kid but still kept his power, only thing because of his tiny body he couldnt contain ssj3 as well as his adult form
Asad the fanboy Actually Yes, if he was an adult in GT then he would've been more OP then he is in DBS. He would've took out almost all the villains with relative ease. Almost nobody understands this. On top of the fact that it goes against your regular Dragonball themes of surpassing your own Limitations, that's what makes GT so unique.
TheGintama86 Even his adult form couldn't sustain SSJ3. It drains too much stamina to be of any use. The biggest downside is that the smaller body meant he couldn't hit as hard as he used to. Oh, and apparently it affected his brain, making him behave like DB Goku. Zarama The Pain Enigma GT made various terrible mistakes, such as making Goku the focus and making everyone else seem useless, bringing Piccolo in just to kill him off and overall creating a ton of plotholes, like the unexplained appearance of the Black Star Dragon Balls and, if they're so dangerous, why they were kept on an easy-to-find pedestal rather than hidden away or _destroyed_.
What about the fact that Goku decided to stay dead after Cell because he knew he was drawing in more dangers to Earth? And how during the Majin Buu saga he argued that his time fighting on the mortal world should be over and the job be left to the newer generations? The fact of the matter is that the Goku of DBZ (and arguably even DB) was much wiser and more mature than the one-dimensional character that appears in Super. He used to have a moral compass and get upset at anyone who would cause suffering to innocent people, now mass genocide barely fazes him...
José, you are right, the Future Trunks arc was the least Super arc in Super :P It was almost like a DBZ arc, I really liked it (except for the way it ended), it's why I got back to watching Super regularly. But it feels like they immediately undid most of the characters' evolution straight away.... I hope I am wrong and that they are going to surprise us with how they write Goku for the rest of the current arc, but I'm not holding my breath...
No and that's the problem. He needs a need goal in life. P.S. I want to see Goku, Vegeta, and Gohan visit Sadal and Goten and Trunks enter a youth Saiyan tournament there. DO IT Toei/Toriyama/Toyotaro.
Dragon ball super episode 87 describes Goku's character perfectly he just wants to fight strong guys but can't stand when innocent people get hurt because of said fight I don't care that is the Goku I go with is a perfect combo between the original and the dub
I dont agree, it may seem like what goku did was a bad thing when he went to zeno and asked for the tournament, but it wasn't zeno would have erased ALL the universes currently fighting in the tournament of power. The only difference it made was that now their can be one survivor. As for him ignoring the things beeres said, it is arguably okay because beeres had shown obvious signs of over reacting to zeno. As for what happened in the buu saga, you have to remember that gokus intent during this whole thing was to make sure someones strong enough to save his friends, family and the earth. That seems like a pretty selfless act to me
Just for fun sometimes I wonder how the SuperHero Dub version of Goku that was on toonami, ya know the ally to good nightmare to you one, wouldve reacted if he knew a googleplex of lives were at stake thanks to this tournament 😂
But seriously though - the "heroic Goku" that we grew up with wasn't what Toriyama had in mind. That was Toei/Funimation's doing. The Goku we see here is actually as close as we'll get to the Goku Toriyama envisioned.
ScarletImp2113 he still wrote goku like that. its not like funi or toei re wrote the outline of the story. goku was still a hero. toriyama is going over that, but he totally wrote the story lol
And that's terrible, Toriyama's vision of Goku is one of the things I can't agree with him on or support. (Like Minus' story) I'm glad the english side keeps Goku's heroic depiction from the old days, just feels right.
I wish they focused more on the "compassionate" side of Goku's character. I mean, he made some of his enemies his friends, he shows that he cares about others, there could be more motivation to him other than "I wanna be strong!" Though i kinda feel he takes his friends for granted, he cares, but it's like he's aware they will always excuse his actions and let him do whatever he wants.
This is probably the first time I'm going to question your perception of Son Goku. He isn't a Savior. He is entirely an anti-hero. He saves the day because he wants to fight, not because he's in the right.
Steven Petrihos ignoring the fact that he still cares about people, got pissed at frieza for all the people he killed including namekians or at dr gero for hurting people in a city. etc. (all things which were in the manga and japanese version) yes goku can be fight obsessed and makes some mistakes but hes still a caring and nice person and fights for other people and can be wise when it matters and some too many people simplify him the same way eng dub did it just they go the other way by ignoring his good qualities. (doesnt help that super flanderizes his flaws inconsistently giving more fuel to the fire.)
Steven Petrihos hes not 100% selfish he sacrificed himself against cell deadpool would never do that Also if your counting not reviving grandpa gohan well.......Grandpa gohan did not want to be revived he ACCEPTED that he is dead also in db original goku revived uups dad even if he did not give him anything also when he fought Majin vegeta the reason he did not use ssj3 is because it depletes energy too fast and vegeta would simply survive until goku has runned out of energy also when he fought raditz he sacrificed himself and the reason he does not spend time with chi chi is because...............if he did that and not train hard everyone would be killed by raditz
Den totally agree! It was not the English dub who made Goku a hero. Even in the Japanese he had good qualities, specially in the anime thanks to Toei Animation who saw him as a good guy, but even in manga he got good qualities too! Otherwise in all other countries people wouldn't grew up seeing Goku as a hero, I live and grew up in a country where Dragon Ball debuted before the English version and I too grew up seeing Goku as a hero of justice.
Sir Baguette Mapping Studio He didn't resurrected Grandpa Gohan for two reasons, 1- because he didn't wanted to be resurrected, 2- because he was dead for so long, and anyone who paid attention to the show know to well that Shenlong can resurrect people but not people who have being dead for too much long! The same happened with Goku himself when he sacrificed himself to destroy Cell, in the Buu saga no one brought it back to life because they new it was pointless because he was dead for so long, not to mentioned that he was already resurrected in the Saiyan saga, but even if he wasn't already revived he couldn't be revived either because so many years had passed, it took the sacrifice of Old Kai for Goku to be revived. Yeah I know that recently in DBS and DBZRF Frieza was revived with the Dragon Balls and he was dead for much longer than Goku but this is a contradiction of what it was said before, I think Akira Toriyama just forgot about this specific rule like many other plotholes in Super lol. But can be easily justified by either simply Dende increasing Shenlong's power due to the fact he is growing up and becoming more powerful, or due to the fact of Frieza's race living way longer than humans and saiyans.
@@sr.filipinobaguette4788 he didn't sacrifice himself against cell, he killed himself on purpose, he was casually talking to kai on his planet and has taken fingers off his forehead
If Super becomes super dark and all the Z Fighters begin hating each other and fighting each other and then most of them die and it comes down to Vegeta needing to stop Goku I'mma flip my shit. Not that it's likely, but now I'm thinking about it.
that house metaphor msde me nut, that was so perfect this mans videos are always so on point omg, hes one of the only db RUclipsrs that gives me amazing closure on all his videos, cuz he directly addresses the question at hand and its beautiful
Really liked the video! The end made me think of something... how Goku's desire to constantly fight stronger people while never being fullfilled could be a metaphor for the audience, who are literally never fullfilled with new Goku adventures and forever want them to continue, he keeps wanting to fight stronger people because we keep wanting to see him fight stronger people, forever.
Honestly I think there's some selective memory and revisionist history going on with all this. Yes, Goku's primary motivation is fighting strong guys, and yes he's done some incredibly reckless and stupid things in pursuit of that. But as he said to Seventeen: "I can't stand to see innocent people or animals suffer." I mean that's the crux of Goku's moral code. He's not a superhero like his son was, or a cop like Krillin; he doesn't go looking for problems to solve. But if he encounters bullies and tyrants he'll fight them; if he encounters people in need he'll help them. And he's also more than willing to die to save others if there's no other way, as he did with Raditz and Cell.
what if when Vegeta falls off the stage, he looks at Goku and sees Black instead. He realises that Goku becomes more selfish and selfish that he becomes more evil. He realises that when the tournament ends, he has to kill Goku because he is a danger to him, his family, his planet and the entire multiverse. One last fight.
I absolutely loved seeing people arguing about wether Goku in super is evil. And whenever I think of that I always remember that one guy from like 6 years ago who posted 5 reasons why he doesn't like dragon ball on his channel. One of which was that "If I didn't know any better, I'd say Goku is the villan" Of course back then he was down voted to hell itself, but it does bring a smile to my face when I read people prooving that Goku was always a hero before super.
Interesting thing about Goku is that while most his selfish choices turn out for the best, whenever he does do something with the greater good in mind it usually backfires.
The only thing that could even potentially quell his thirst for challenging battles is training someone else, like Uub. But its yet to be seen if that will overtake his passion for self-improvement and fighting.
The only reason his character is like this is because Goku was never meant to be the main character for this long. I'm sure that everything after Cell was meant to involve a new main character like Gohan or Trunks or Goten or Uub or Pan or Piccolo jr jr or any decendant from here to infinity. Goku could have been surpassed a dozen times throughout the show by any of these characters then he'd always have someone stronger than him to keep him satisfied. This show could have been like an anime game of thrones but instead it's closer to being like Pokemon or Batman with a single character who can never evolve cause if he did then the show would end. Viewers and producers feel itchy whiten Goku isn't the one saving the day and moving the plot along with his bs. We're stick with him till the show ends.
Of course Toriyama decided that based on his own decision of how to handle Gohan. Frankly my favorite part of Dragonball Z was during Gohan's brief tenure as the main character, both vs Cell and as the Great Saiyaman.
No it won't and I understand. It's the drive and passion to always get better and improved. When you become satisfied you limit yourself and you're potential.
I got a theory on why universe 6 Saiyans actually have more true potential than universe 7 saiyans. It starts wth Piccolo actually to. We go back to the Resurrection of F arc in Super when Piccolo is killed by Frieza (First Form) protecting Gohan. We know Piccolo is way stronger than even a Super Saiyan two which then brings me next Frieza is as well. Then we see Goku face off against Frieza final form in his base form. Friezas final form is obviously way stronger than Super Saiyan 2 with how easily he killed Piccolo in his first form. Yet Goku goes with him toe to toe in base form and even beats up on him a little. Frieza then turns Golden and Goku blue and we move forward. Now Goku and Vegeta have been training with Whis to perfect the base forms more to amplify their transformations even more. Then train in the HTC for 3 days or (3 years) then go to universe 6 Tournament. Vegeta faces Cabba who goes toe to toe with Vegeta in base form which means they have the same base form power level which would be equivalent to Gokus Super Saiyan 2 back in DBZ as supported by Frieza and Goku going toe to toe. Now Cabba then went Super Saiyan and was able to stay with Super Saiyan Vegeta toe to toe. I believe the Universe 6 saiyans have more potential than Universe 7 saiyans because of all this detail. Also look how easily Caulifa was able to achieve SSJ2 and Super Saiyan as well. Just my theory anybody else have thoughts?
I love these kind of videos more than "what if" videos, but I love it that Masako is getting more recognition so it's alright with me. And yeah, Goku will never be quenched.
The angels and Kais (Vados mainly) tried to say Goku saved the universes by creating the tournament of power but that's wasn't Goku's intention. Goku wanted to fight other people and willing to lie to his friends initially to bring them into it. Maybe it would register to Goku more if the Super Dragonballs are unable to revive the eliminated universes and the Omni-Kings did do so as well.
The only Super Dragonball Wish I would be happy with would be 'Restore the inhabited worlds of the universes destroyed in this tournament (or just Universe 6 if the capacity of Universe 7's space isn't high enough for all of the destroyed universes) along with their inhabitants into Universe Seven.' U7 desperately needs more sentient species. 28 planets with civilizations is lamesauce.
I think that using the super dragon balls to revive universes would directly go against Zeno's intentions(or will). As mentioned by the grand priest, this is the worst possible crime in the omniverse and would result in the revived universes being erased on top of universe 7.
You misunderstood me. The wish I'm talking about doesn't restore the destroyed universes. They're gone forever. It merely places their sentient worlds and populations into Universe 7.
That does make sense your wish since techinally it not going against Zeno order at all. I mean really if one think about it. PLus that might boost all of the Mortal Rating as well. I mean isn't Unverise 7 problem is that it actually has less planet and species as well?
MaxHinaNaru Actually it is universe 7's fault. Specifically it's Beerus and Shen's fault for the levels being so low. They discussed this in the exhibition round. Beerus was destroying without restraint and the Kais were lax about creating new planets and species.
You know what I really want to GOKU himself become the last villain in the Dbs I don't care what happened to him or how(maybe his inner Saiyan takes control or he couldn't find a strong guy to fight so he creates one with help of the super dragon balls) that could be awesome and pretty good final for me.
I don't really see why anyone would dislike Goku for this. Let's be real.. Nappa murdered half the cast under Vegeta's orders and he let Vegeta go. No one cared. Oh, you let our murderer go? Sweet. Goku let Frieza live. Oh, you let a genocidal tyrant live? No problem! He helped to recharge the guy threatening the world? That's fair. Hell, he even tried to let Frieza go again in Super. Honestly, what are people going to say..? 'Oh Goku, how dare you make this tournament happen! If it weren't for you, we'd of randomly been deleted one day!' I won't argue that there has been a severe lack of threat in this arc, but again.. The options were Goku sparks a tournament and saves a universe, or people go byebye. Really hard to make the guy out to be villainous due to that.
To both of you I have to ask.. Why is that a problem? His reasoning was selfish, but because he was selfish an entire universe gets to survive. There's really nothing negative coming from him in this. It's like letting Vegeta go. He didn't do it to be a hero, but because he saw a rival. In turn Vegeta ended up becoming good and has a family.. Ya, Goku's intentions were for himself, but I mean.. Is anyone going to argue that Goku let a murderer go? No. Most of us love Vegeta, despite the fact he has blown up planets and the likes.
Why this is a problem, you ask? Because he placed the priority of the opportunity to fight a strong opponent over the wellbeing of his allies. Him saving their lives was merely a matter of circumstance, not an emergency that needed to be attended to. The difference with Vegeta (most of the time) is that he learns from his mistakes or at the very least, recognizes that he's at fault and tries to make amends. The fact that he tossed aside his own pride just to keep Beerus calm shows that he has a greater sense of urgency than Goku and the fact that he attacks him knowing that he's way weaker when he injured Bulma shows that he cares way more for his family than Goku did.
Hey guy's, I know this has nothing to do with the video, but I wanted your opinions on my roster for DragonBall FighterZ Character's that I expect to be in the game. Let me know what you think of my list OG Dragon Ball Characters: - Kid Goku With the Great Ape transformation - Master Roshi (Buff Form)/Jackie Chun Z Characters: - Bardock (Super Saiyan) - Adult Gohan (Ultimate Form) - Great Saiyaman - Tien - Yamcha - Recoome - Zarbon (Ugly Transformation) - Android 16 - Android 17 - Android 18 - Broly (LSSJ) - Bojack - Beerus - Whis - Gotenks (Super Saiyan 3) - Vegito (Super Saiyan or SSB) - Mr. Satan (To be the gag character) - Super Buu (Gohan absorbed) - Kid Buu - Dabura - Janemba (Demon Form) And if they include Super characters: - Goku (SSB/Kaioken) - Vegeta (SSB) - Champa - HIt (Awakened) - Goku Black (SSR) - Fused Zamasu
If I'm missing any fan favorites, feel free to let me know. I didn't add GT because there aren't any real great characters, besides SSJ 4 Goku and Nova Shenron. It's fun to speculate and talk about who's going to be in the game. It makes for a fun conversation.
FighterZ is supposed to have a max of around 30 characters I believe. I would pre order it in a heart beat if all these characters were in it. I'm sure characters like Zarbon and Bojack won't make the cut, but a man can dream lol. Is there anyone that I missed that you'd like to see in the game?
Just thought of a good one. It'd be awesome if they put Shin, Universe 7's Supreme Kai in the game. No one would see that coming. He's such an unconventional character so he'd be perfect. Fingers crossed
For some reason I think that by the end of Super Goku is going to switch gears from wanting to be the strongest fighter to wanting to train others to reach his level. It would explain the epilogue of Z.
We love to say that our characters are good guys when in reality there are no such thing as good or bad people, just people who do terrible or great things. There are facets of psychology that dictate that when on acts with the ego, shadow self, with impure non genuine intentions, the result is usually bad. But Goku acts with genuine motivation, seeking no validation or domination over others.Goku might low key be the most self actualized character in anime. And these people usually turn out to be really kind. He just really likes to fight strong guys. And what's wrong with that? If the results are always good, then screw it, let him fight. Second point: he does not always spare his opponents just to fight them later. Example: Freeza was a cut in hal useless fighting partner who he spared despite being the worst person he ever met. If we're gonna judge Gokus character then we should use that instance
...No. He wants to be killed in battle and stay dead. that's basically the saiyan dream. However, between the fact that his friends are all shit and that bigger and badder enemies keep showing up to threaten the world (forcing his shit friends to wish him back to life), goku is basically immortal and thus will never be satisfied.
I always wondered why Goku was so against killing Vegeta or Frieza but told Gohan he needed to kill Cell. You would think Goku would want to become stronger and challenge and overcome Cell himself.
I agree entirely that no matter how strong he get or how many strong opponents he faces he'll never be satisfied which got me thinking that maybe for the last arc in super they should make goku the antagonist (not necessarily a villain) but have it be a way of him passing the torch of universe's strongest fighter to one of his sons (or vegeta)
I feel sorry for Toppo and the Pride Troopers. They're genuinely good guys in their universe, even going so far as to save kittens from high electric wires, and yet they're forced to fight in the tournament against a guy who just wants a decent fight, with universal erasure as a consequence if they lose. (which they probably will) I just see Goku as their version of Cell, and right now the parallels between the Tournament of Power and the Cell games are STRINKINGLY similar if you consider the Pride Troopers as the Z Fighters of their Universe.
Hello, really enjoying your videos been watching DB since I was a child the original YTV run in Canada with the Canadian Intro. I think you should do a video on the different intros, from various countries. Have a good day.
Toei animation did the best thing back in the day trying to make Goku a hero and not be too much faithful to Toriyama's original vision. I think that if they'd made Goku in the original Dragon Ball and in Dragon Ball Z like he is in DBSuper, Dragon Ball wouldn't be as famous as it is today.
that will not do, he wants to be stronger, he could wish vegeta to be always 1% stronger than him every day, that way he will need to improve always but never catch up
At some point between Kid Buu and the end of Z goku kind of settles down and becomes more of a teacher to Pan, and then to Uub. I feel like his priorities kind of shifted to training others...of course its so he can have someone as strong as him to fight, but its a step towards Goku eventually stepping down as a Z-fighter and giving the new generation of fighters (Trunks, Goten, Pan, etc...) the spotlight.
Alex Baldani I mean without being a super saiyan. Like he just held raditz's tail while piccolo used special beam cannon, instead of letting go of him like in the original story.
Toriyama: Goku is strong guy who wants to fight strong guys. He isn’t a heroic Superman. Also Toriyama: Drastically Re-writes Goku’s origin story so that he’s basically Superman.
I hope Vegeta has to put Goku down, but purely to protect his family from his shenanigans. Would be great for Vegeta to finally kill Goku, but for pure hearted reasons this time, not evil.
This is why I appreciate the GT Epilogue more than the entirety of Super because it gave Goku's lust for power a sense of closure where his legacy was passed down to his children and grandchildren with the Earth's Dragon Balls being inert for a century as atonement for having Shenron grant too many wishes. Even the story line for Dragon Ball Online prior to the release of Super was more well thought out in terms of Goku's final battle with Vegeta and the moment when Majin Buu discovers what love is when he creates Miss Buu off of reading one of Mr. Satan's adult books, "Bob & Margaret".
I actually see him more like Saitama from one punch man than I use to now. He's looking for something to stimulate his existence and all that can is fighting and a bigger challenge.. it's crazy he use to be portrayed as fighting for everyone else. He unintentionally gave 1 universe a chance to survive his intentions were to fight for fun hah
That's why I love the Pride Troopers. It shows how Goku is not a "good guy" after all, as he is, after all, a Sayian from Universe 7. "So I'm evil, huh? That's interresting!" -Goku, with a grin on his face (end of episode 81)
I hope we get to see more of Cabba's older saiyan friend. The perspective of a saiyan who's past their prime isn't something we've had much of. I don't think that would stop Goku or Vegeta, though. Even if they were gradually getting weaker, I think they'd still be fighting until they die, because it's what they love to do. Part of me hopes that will be the true ending of Dragon Ball, old Goku and old Vegeta having one final duel and both dying in the exchange.
When Gohan found Goku he was the starting point of everything. Instead of leaving the mountains to give Goku a better upbringing he remained in seclusion until his ultimate death at Goku's hand, or foot. Now true goku did have a tail and Gohan may have been protecting him but at the same time that doesn't mean you do what he did. Goku had no education. He knew nothing about people outside of his Grandfather and himself. And all he knew was training. After meeting Bulma, mind you the immature selfish teenager she was, was no help. True Goku to see more of the world and learned from them, but ultimately he was failed by the ones around him to drive the meaning in to his mind in ways that would have worked, such as through training and food. They could have made him learn patients and other things through training, learn that Training was not everything. BUT THEY DIDN"T NO ONE DID! He was left to his own devices on multiple occasions after his friends were done with their plot. Even Mr. Popo and Kami taught Goku NOTHINIG! I will not even get started with how bad Chichi is in this situation. The main point is that Goku knows nothing else. He can't be normal because he was never told how to be and the methods others have now is nothing more then screaming and negative. Goku figured the Tournament we are in now was going to be the same as the last one only bigger, had he known life was on the line he still would have done something. Why? Because Beerus would have told him too! After learning he would be erased because his Universe was to weak, like hell he'd let himself die like that! No he'd get everyone together and tell them whats happening. Coming straight out with what's on the line would have had a line up in no time and a better training plan. But no everyone blames Goku for doing the right thing because he's board or selfish, or only thinking about himself. HE"S NOT! He known's nothing else! He's never felt anything to make him change! Goku is a product of his up bringing. It was very bad with a very good out come.
No, Goku will never be satisfied. After the Tournament of Power and eventually becoming bored of fighting Hit and Jiren, Goku will look for competitors in the 4 universes that were exempt from participating. After that he goes after all the Gods of Destruction to see if he can finally take on Beerus at 100%. Then once he gets bored of them he will go after all of the angels like Whis and Vados with his Perfected Kaioken Super Saiyan God Super Saiyan level 50 and finally once he's taken out the grand priest and become the strongest fighter in all of reality he'll take a break. Until a couple months later when someone ( probably Yamcha) reminds him about the alternate timelines and he goes and faces every version of all his friends and enemies until he literally cannot throw a single punch.
I really really enjoy this subversion of Goku's recklessness, it's worked out for him in the past, but the idea that it paints him as a villain in the eyes of the kais, angels and other universes is so cool. Suddenly, everyone isn't the enemy anymore. The people who could've been allies to fighter even greater threats are now enemies because of Goku's innate desire to fight. Look even at how he reacts in the promo to this weekend's episode featuring Caulifla and Kale, he's excited to see Saiyans just as strong as him and Vegeta, and he wants to fight them! I think it'll be super fascinating to watch how all this will unfold during the tournament and its aftermath. He obviously seems to have a different attitude by the "End of Z Peacetime" arc, even though he likely has an ulterior motive to fight Uub after he trains him. Ooo, what might be even more fascinating is if his recklessness causes him to be DQ'ed and it relies on Gohan's inherent goodness to win the tourney and then resurrect the universes. That would be SO awesome and a great service to a character who has redeemed himself as a fighter and has a massive reason as to why he's fighting to save Universe 7.
Also, the part towards the end with the "our enemies are our friends now" dealy.... those would basically be his former enemies saying that. Krillin & Bulma are really the only ones who were never against Goku (well, Roshi too, but he's not really a main character).Even Yamcha was a former enemy (Yaijirobi, too). So you can't really paint the picture like Goku's anything other than a mutual friend that ended up uniting unlikely people together. Heck, when you think about it Krillin was even a rival at the beginning, and they ended up friends as a result (which is part of why his actual foes had the same result). And Bulma even SHOT Goku during their first encounter, so if anything, Goku just has a knack for making friends out of foes (or rather, powerful people are more keen on powerful allies over adversaries).
Hmm... This makes Goku sound like a dick. This is why I actually prefer the Eng Dub over the JPN direct translation. If I watched the Sub first, I might not have grown to like the series. Because Goku isn't exactly likeable. If you aren't strong to him, he can do without you and that shows more in the original show. Give 90's Funimation hell for the changes/censorship they did to the series, yes. But they made Goku more relate-able to. And for that, I thank them.
Mr. Piccolo yep thats true and its sad that super flanderized him and that too many people (including masako himself) ignore gokus good qualities like his compassion or wiseness and simplify him by making him out to have only flaws like his fightobsessedness and naivety. ( like what the eng dub did only they go about it the opposite way) and saying that vegeta or some other charas rarely did something stupid, ignoring that db characters often due to plot induced stupidity make stupid decisions (not only goku but many characters equally much) doesnt help as well that super inconsistenly flanderizes his flaws.
i would say he was content at the beginning of z. the arrival of the saiyans is what upset the cart as he learned there was a bigger, greater world to be challenged. the only thing keeping him from being content the same way at the beginning of super is chi chi is forcing him to work and he doesnt get to train like he would like. then beerus came and introduced him to yet another realm to explore. now he has multiple universes worth of fighters to face. i think once he has found his ultimate place in the universe at the end of super he will find contentment again.
"Making Goku "the most plained-face main character i can think of"". But then Kirito came and stole that title, the poorly-written, reader-insertion bastard.
Satyam Ak satamia is truly the winner of the most plain chartor but I suppose he chould one punch into a less plain chartor if he wanted to but hes to consurned with saveing on grocery shopping
I heard somewhere that the original idea for beerus was someone who turned all of gokus friends against him and than goku learned what it meant to be a hero but the idea was turned down because it was too dark. Maybe they could reuse that idea by having an arc where his friends turned on him because of this tournament
Now that i think about Vegeta did say saiyans have a strong sensation to fight stronger foes........so in a sense when Goku hit his head as child, instead of growing up and destroying earth like he was planned to, his mindset became just to fight. Turning super saiyan just made it worse since he basically gave into his heritage. He was taught human values and stuff like that from Grandpa Gohan but when he became an adult it started to show how much his heritage would creep up.
Why do you keep perpetuating the idea that the Tournament of Power is in any way Goku's "idea" (btw, I'd ask Toei the same question first, since until episode 99 they acted like it wasn't Xeno's call). Xeno literally says at the end of the U6/U7 tournament that he wants to do one, and the U6/U7 tourney wasn't even Goku's idea. The only claim Goku really has to it was reminding Xeno about it (which doesn't mean Xeno forgot, it just means Goku was excited about it). More to the point, it's not fair to say that the erasure possibility "didn't register" with Goku; Lapis (aka #17) is perfectly ok with the idea, too. In his mind, if everything is erased, then it's erased. There's nothing to worry about if everything's undone, but while things are still here.... sure.
Maybe this is why he's so enamored with training Uub at the end of Z. He's strong enough that it's more fun to teach someone else and bring them to his level than to make himself stronger.
Honestly I feel that the English dub gave Goku a lot better characterization than the Japanese dub. As much as people shake in reverence of Toriyama, he has faults in his writing that do hold Dragonball back. I do love this series, but it's sad when characters get reverted to simple writing when they have developed so much.

Goku stops when he will be killed after he is dead and all dragon balls are destroyed.
georgijus1002070 Dead ? Well he will die but he will still fight for eternity....
Just as Piccolo said in the recent DBZ - Abridged Episode, "Well, this is Goku, so he's either saving our lives or dooming us all."
Will you idiots stop using abridged as source? Abridged is just a parody of z it's not supposed to be taken seriously.
He saved them multiple times you guys are idiots
Let him fight someone like Doomsday who literally is just reborn stronger everytime you kill him and him with his zenkai boosts. An eternity of punching.....🙂crap..... i mentioned a DC character on a DBZ video
*PUTS up Shields*
Well if it was goku from the manga he would just use hakai
JaxBlade Pshhht let both Zeno from the present and the future potara fuse and be Goku's eternal punching bag.
Put the shield down, for I agree and I'm pretty sure others do
doomsday is weak...lol even buu could generate
doomsday cant fly right? hes basically an overpowered porcupine hulk. he would be a tough one for goku, but goku instant transmission kamehameha would stop him
I find it funny that Goku is more of an anti hero than Vegeta even though I always thought Goku was a "just warrior" as a kid.
Daitomodachi I like your animations
Actually Goku is just a warrior just like Ryu they might save lives and win tournaments but those are only stepping stones on their path as warriors
NANIIII?! DAITOMODACHI-SAMA WATCHES MASAKO :0
Yeah, that was always an Anime thing. Toriyama didn't want that to be the case and was rather bothered by it.
@Sam M. exactly
Goku "can't get no saatishfwaactshaun".
Mark Johnson I see what you did there
Mark Johnson GG
Mark Johnson nice engrish
"I can't get no satisfac-"
"SHAUN!"
Highly underrated comment.
Kakarot is a true saiyan. His pride has become almost as apparent as my own. One day, I will step up for the sake of the universe and take Kakarot away somewhere to battle until the end of time, for he will NEVER be satiated and frankly, neither will I.
i cringed so hard at this comment i got a headache
I really like how there's such a big difference on how Goku behaves in both the Japanese and the English dub.
ligidk That's because lines are written differently while transposed over the same action. I'm excited how English dub is supposed to justify it when it comes to the parts where other universes are angry at Goku for being a power whore.
Last arc of dragon ball super everyone vs Goku
Probably.
Goku seems to be an extension of Toriyama himself: I don't care about the consequences as long as I get to draw stuff!
Super Sendai Series So... true... 😂😂😂
Goku should just nerf himself with the super dragonballs everytime he gets too strong lol
Mr Tobi1018 didn't pilaf nerf him in gt
Mr Tobi1018 Goku would never do that. One of the themes of Dragon ball is constantly surpassing your limitations.
Asad the fanboy kinda he just got turned into a kid but still kept his power, only thing because of his tiny body he couldnt contain ssj3 as well as his adult form
Asad the fanboy
Actually Yes, if he was an adult in GT then he would've been more OP then he is in DBS. He would've took out almost all the villains with relative ease. Almost nobody understands this. On top of the fact that it goes against your regular Dragonball themes of surpassing your own Limitations, that's what makes GT so unique.
TheGintama86
Even his adult form couldn't sustain SSJ3. It drains too much stamina to be of any use. The biggest downside is that the smaller body meant he couldn't hit as hard as he used to. Oh, and apparently it affected his brain, making him behave like DB Goku.
Zarama The Pain Enigma
GT made various terrible mistakes, such as making Goku the focus and making everyone else seem useless, bringing Piccolo in just to kill him off and overall creating a ton of plotholes, like the unexplained appearance of the Black Star Dragon Balls and, if they're so dangerous, why they were kept on an easy-to-find pedestal rather than hidden away or _destroyed_.
Veon1 ...Did you see the last arc? Goku got pissed after what Zamasu did to Chichi and Goten.
The dub will change
X TRON PLASMA The dub can't change his actions, only his lines, he'd still be a power-hungry orange hillbilly.
The dub changes him into a western superhero. Goku has always been like this.
But what about if MasakoX will ever be satisfied?
He won't be satisfied until someone is strong enough to bench press my dende
Screaming Saiyan stop screaming
So never then, after all you can't bench press something that does not exist.
I dont agree,
it may seem like what goku did was a bad thing when he went to zeno and asked for the tournament, but it wasn't zeno would have erased ALL the universes currently fighting in the tournament of power.
That seems like a pretty selfless act to me
I just wanna see the replies this will get.
My theory is that DBZ was largley about Vegeta's shift from villain to hero. So DBS will be about Gokus journey from hero to villain
Just for fun sometimes I wonder how the SuperHero Dub version of Goku that was on toonami, ya know the ally to good nightmare to you one, wouldve reacted if he knew a googleplex of lives were at stake thanks to this tournament 😂
I think he'd be horrified and rush to stop the imposter. "How dare you put so many lives at risk? I will not let you get away with this!!"
I mean, he made some of his enemies his friends, he shows that he cares about others, there could be more motivation to him other than "I wanna be strong!"
Though i kinda feel he takes his friends for granted, he cares, but it's like he's aware they will always excuse his actions and let him do whatever he wants.
This is probably the first time I'm going to question your perception of Son Goku. He isn't a Savior. He is entirely an anti-hero. He saves the day because he wants to fight, not because he's in the right.
Steven Petrihos ignoring the fact that he still cares about people, got pissed at frieza for all the people he killed including namekians or at dr gero for hurting people in a city. etc. (all things which were in the manga and japanese version)
yes goku can be fight obsessed and makes some mistakes but hes still a caring and nice person and fights for other people and can be wise when it matters and some too many people simplify him the same way eng dub did it just they go the other way by ignoring his good qualities.
He's basically the anime version of Akuma or Ryu, if you know the lore of Street Fighter.
Goku just needs his own personal Valhalla.
If Super becomes super dark and all the Z Fighters begin hating each other and fighting each other and then most of them die and it comes down to Vegeta needing to stop Goku I'mma flip my shit.
Not that it's likely, but now I'm thinking about it.
Thank you Masakox for finally touching upon this subject. I've been telling people this for the longest but ppl just wouldn't listen
Didn't you hear the DBS opening? "I can't get no satisfaction" :P
that house metaphor msde me nut, that was so perfect
this mans videos are always so on point omg, hes one of the only db RUclipsrs that gives me amazing closure on all his videos, cuz he directly addresses the question at hand and its beautiful
Goku's lust for power and desire to defeat the strongest of warriors is the exact thing that makes most of the great villains out there
This is what takes someone to become the bad guy, to pursue a goal at the expense of everyone else, friends or anyone who gets in the way
Really liked the video!
But as he said to Seventeen: "I can't stand to see innocent people or animals suffer."
I mean that's the crux of Goku's moral code.
The more I learn about Toriyama the more my respect shifts to his editor
maybe i need to change my name to a dbz character to have a big likes in this channel? (android 18)
change it to Future Trunks or Goten or even Chi Chi
Nah change it to Ochinchin. This name will 100% get you likes
save your dignity do not go for that washing machine
yeah, then you can type in any generic boring comment and it will be liked by a bunch of fanboys
GO WITH PICO.
what if when Vegeta falls off the stage, he looks at Goku and sees Black instead. He realises that Goku becomes more selfish and selfish that he becomes more evil.
He realises that when the tournament ends, he has to kill Goku because he is a danger to him, his family, his planet and the entire multiverse.
One last fight.
Stupid Bell doesn't work half the time, glad I caught this in recommended.
So Saitama was a rip off of Goku's character except Saitama was executed in a way more like Akira Toriyama would have wanted Goku to be!
Interesting thing about Goku is that while most his selfish choices turn out for the best, whenever he does do something with the greater good in mind it usually backfires.
So would Vegeta be the furnace?
Steedious ask after the cell saga it was suppose to revolve around gohan, but everyone wanted goku back so
Not true. Toriyama decided for himself that Gohan wasn't fit for MC.
Of course Toriyama decided that based on his own decision of how to handle Gohan.
Frankly my favorite part of Dragonball Z was during Gohan's brief tenure as the main character, both vs Cell and as the Great Saiyaman.
Nop, Toriyama made that decision because everyone was mad at Goku no being the main hero like always.
^This
Now this is *perfect*.
Trinity Uprising i think universe 6 saiyans are a play on the cliche of skinny teens having immense powers. My effortless guess.
Trinity Uprising nice theory
Trinity Uprising awesome theory!!😀
I love these kind of videos more than "what if" videos, but I love it that Masako is getting more recognition so it's alright with me. And yeah, Goku will never be quenched.
The angels and Kais (Vados mainly) tried to say Goku saved the universes by creating the tournament of power but that's wasn't Goku's intention. Goku wanted to fight other people and willing to lie to his friends initially to bring them into it. Maybe it would register to Goku more if the Super Dragonballs are unable to revive the eliminated universes and the Omni-Kings did do so as well.
The only Super Dragonball Wish I would be happy with would be 'Restore the inhabited worlds of the universes destroyed in this tournament (or just Universe 6 if the capacity of Universe 7's space isn't high enough for all of the destroyed universes) along with their inhabitants into Universe Seven.'
U7 desperately needs more sentient species.
Shinjiji except he didn't do it to save people. He did for the sole purpose of punching strong guys in the face.
Shinjiji Problem is, Goku didnt do it to "save a universe" he did it solely to fight strong guys
And Vegeta said screw working together despite knowing the stakes.
Goku is the perfect example of a Saiyan. He'll simply fight till he's dead, and continue once he goes back to Otherworld.
Hey guy's, I know this has nothing to do with the video, but I wanted your opinions on my roster for DragonBall FighterZ
Character's that I expect to be in the game. Let me know what you think of my list

It's starting to sound like you hate goku, do you?
I honestly dont think he will be satisfied until the day he dies, I think he just wants to get stronger as much as he can until his time comes
Are we talking food?
You would think Goku would want to become stronger and challenge and overcome Cell himself.
hi Masako!!
If goku were a little younger and single. He and caulfila would make a great power couple.
#POWERWHORES4LIFE
If only
Who knows, Caulifla could be married and 40.
hmmm... isnt goten the same age as her?
I think it might be the other way round
+west Coast
If Caulifla is Goku, does that make Kale both Broly AND Raditz? Radoly? Broditz?
I feel sorry for Toppo and the Pride Troopers. They're genuinely good guys in their universe, even going so far as to save kittens from high electric wires, and yet they're forced to fight in the tournament against a guy who just wants a decent fight, with universal erasure as a consequence if they lose. (which they probably will) I just see Goku as their version of Cell, and right now the parallels between the Tournament of Power and the Cell games are STRINKINGLY similar if you consider the Pride Troopers as the Z Fighters of their Universe.
What if in the main timeline dr. Gero had just made cell into perfect cell and we skipped the Android Saga all together
Hello, really enjoying your videos been watching DB since I was a child the original YTV run in Canada with the Canadian Intro. I think you should do a video on the different intros, from various countries. Have a good day.
He never will, he literally trains while dead. ..Me page is lit too! 🔥🔥👀
Nerdbut Notreally
*my page isn't good
Thank you, MasakoX, for putting the thought of Goku singing, in your Goku voice, (I Can't Get No) Satisfaction.
Goku is like galactus
You know you're good when you manage to get someone to subscribe even when they haven't even seen the show yet
Don't you mean when will the fan base be satisfied?
Toei animation did the best thing back in the day trying to make Goku a hero and not be too much faithful to Toriyama's original vision. I think that if they'd made Goku in the original Dragon Ball and in Dragon Ball Z like he is in DBSuper, Dragon Ball wouldn't be as famous as it is today.
He should have just wished to have his power matched to Mr. Satan's power then every fight would be a good fight
that will not do, he wants to be stronger, he could wish vegeta to be always 1% stronger than him every day, that way he will need to improve always but never catch up
At some point between Kid Buu and the end of Z goku kind of settles down and becomes more of a teacher to Pan, and then to Uub. I feel like his priorities kind of shifted to training others...of course its so he can have someone as strong as him to fight, but its a step towards Goku eventually stepping down as a Z-fighter and giving the new generation of fighters (Trunks, Goten, Pan, etc...) the spotlight.
I like Goku's personality
wow so the editors are the real reason dragon ball is the iconic series we all know and love today
“He will never be satisfied, satisfied Satisfied!
HISTORY HAS ITS EYES ON YOU!!”
sorry not sorry ;-)
I'd just like to say that I really enjoy all of your content. keep it up
What if Goku survived the battle with raditz?
He alreand did a video of that, when goku obtained the Super Sayian form before.
Nice video as always masakox!
MASAKO!!!! PLZ WHAT IF GOHAN WENT SSJ WHEN KRILLIN DIES
The Lightning Hero he transforms when krillin dies bc he is already really angry from what happened to piccolo
thepeanutpotato he still wouldn't be able to do shit on Frieza as his power level was above a hundred thousand
Frieza would have shit on him. Super Saiyan is a 50* multiplier. Gohan at that point was no where near Frieza's repressed strength.
+The Lightning Hero he grew up with Krillin
+The Lightning Hero wait nvm
This is why I appreciate the GT Epilogue more than the entirety of Super because it gave Goku's lust for power a sense of closure where his legacy was passed down to his children and grandchildren with the Earth's Dragon Balls being inert for a century as atonement for having Shenron grant too many wishes.
Even the story line for Dragon Ball Online prior to the release of Super was more well thought out in terms of Goku's final battle with Vegeta and the moment when Majin Buu discovers what love is when he creates Miss Buu off of reading one of Mr. Satan's adult books, "Bob & Margaret".
where's android 18 come on where are u
?
I actually see him more like Saitama from one punch man than I use to now. He's looking for something to stimulate his existence and all that can is fighting and a bigger challenge.. it's crazy he use to be portrayed as fighting for everyone else. He unintentionally gave 1 universe a chance to survive his intentions were to fight for fun hah
Final villain of dragon ball is actually Goku lol.
That's why I love the Pride Troopers. It shows how Goku is not a "good guy" after all, as he is, after all, a Sayian from Universe 7. "So I'm evil, huh? That's interresting!" -Goku, with a grin on his face (end of episode 81)
Never. *Saved u 13 minutes that u should use here*
I hope we get to see more of Cabba's older saiyan friend. The perspective of a saiyan who's past their prime isn't something we've had much of. I don't think that would stop Goku or Vegeta, though. Even if they were gradually getting weaker, I think they'd still be fighting until they die, because it's what they love to do. Part of me hopes that will be the true ending of Dragon Ball, old Goku and old Vegeta having one final duel and both dying in the exchange.
simple answer. no long answer... NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
Goku is spoiled
Sonickeyblade00 He isn't a dick in Japanese, he's selfish, yet he still cared if innocent's were killed.
Mr. Piccolo yep thats true and its sad that super flanderized him and that too many people (including masako himself) ignore gokus good qualities like his compassion or wiseness and simplify him by making him out to have only flaws like his fightobsessedness and naivety. ( like what the eng dub did only they go about it the opposite way) and saying that vegeta or some other charas rarely did something stupid, ignoring that db characters often due to plot induced stupidity make stupid decisions (not only goku but many characters equally much)
doesnt help as well that super inconsistenly flanderizes his flaws.
i would say he was content at the beginning of z. the arrival of the saiyans is what upset the cart as he learned there was a bigger, greater world to be challenged. the only thing keeping him from being content the same way at the beginning of super is chi chi is forcing him to work and he doesnt get to train like he would like. then beerus came and introduced him to yet another realm to explore. now he has multiple universes worth of fighters to face. i think once he has found his ultimate place in the universe at the end of super he will find contentment again.
"Making Goku "the most plained-face main character i can think of"". But then Kirito came and stole that title, the poorly-written, reader-insertion bastard.
TheShadowKiller97 and now most plain looking character is sitama
Satyam Ak satamia is truly the winner of the most plain chartor but I suppose he chould one punch into a less plain chartor if he wanted to but hes to consurned with saveing on grocery shopping
Saitama* you both got it wrong
I heard somewhere that the original idea for beerus was someone who turned all of gokus friends against him and than goku learned what it meant to be a hero but the idea was turned down because it was too dark. Maybe they could reuse that idea by having an arc where his friends turned on him because of this tournament
What if Goku never met or married Chi-Chi.
Now I want Goku to hum or lightly sing to himself "Satisfaction" from the Rolling Stones, somewhere in DBZ abridged. That would make my day!
