I think the item kiosk might work how it does because they intend to physicalize it further. Like no paper doll inventory at all when you call things to the drawer the actual drawer pops open and stuff is in there. A few times the devs said that the item kiosks were only for small items. I think later once we have stuff like armor stands and gunracks we won’t be able to pull anything bigger than like a pistol out of the kiosk and it will be fully physicalized.
you was just talking about not having a medic frame... and well that got me thinking, I know it's a little early cause they're clearly still figuring out the inventory system but after... theres one thing I feel like they're missing that every fps worth it's salt has, A loadout system!, think about it theres a lot of gear and options to get ready for different situations... it would be good if you could go to the bank and have presets where it will quickly auto collect specific gear and automatically move that loadout of gear to your draw so you can quick equip!, just something to think about and CIG could do what they do best and put their own spin on it! i'm basically talking custom presets 3 could do for now

We're going to need things like duffel bags for things like guns and armor. Boxes are for shipping, nobody uses them for deployment. The implication is that some 30th-century Amazon slave or robot/drone is down in the warehouse schlepping that stuff about - it would be intuitive and immersive that if you had empty boxes, your stuff would automatically come up in those boxes (if you chose), and, if you didn't have the required boxes, there would be an interim prompt to ask you if you wanted to buy the required amount. If you buy them it all comes sorted and pre-boxed (after a short while), and if you don't you get to deal with stacks of stuff. Finally, I'm pretty sure that you can get boxes and the related stuff in every city now; you don't have to fly up to a station and buy it at the cargo / refinery decks. There's a mining shop on Orison, Dumper's Depot at A18, Shubin at NB, and ... something that escapes me at Lorville. I try to stay away from Lorville. Edit: They appear to have removed shift-click and have now forced us back into that carpal-tunnel inducing swipe swipe swipe bullshit (apologies to those for whom I have just triggered Dora flashbacks).
Things Voidy needs: • med pens (see below) • rail gun ammo (ssee below) • rail guns (indoor and outdoor models) • hella mucho wonga (see above) • tractor beams • cruzeseseszz • cargo boxes (see above and below) • to live his life on the edge (of a freight elevator (like some sort of Space Steven Tyler)) • to not believe the Voice of Reason (even though he should because Nirv is Always Right) • Ursine "Interaction" Things Voidy Does Not Need: • The "Move All" (aka "Lose All") Button Apart from Things Voidy Needs, it is clear that us mere mortal Handsome Viewers will need such Voidy-based Enlightenment if we are to be saved from the Dark CIG Obfuscation of Knowledge and to master these exotic and not at all over-engineered new Moving Things Around mechanics to, erm, elevate us in this Brave New World to efficiently manage the medpen logistic meta. So, that means more How To Space with Voidy vids. And we all need that.
4:00 I think the drawer is too big. I was able to stick a s4 gun in the drawer. I don't think vehicle items should even be accessible in the kiosk. I never do select all, I only send over what I need. 6:35 Conversely, I agree completely with the freight elevator issue. Maybe it can charge you to generate boxes in the warehouse. it seems to waste to force you to go to a cargo center from a planet. I have hundreds of broken down Amazon boxes in my house they can use. 10:29 "All good SCU crates have a name." Ha! I chuckled. Yes, or colorize them. We see their hangar demo with a bunch of colorized boxes. 11:22 I never buy Karna rifles, there is always a plethora of dead ArcCorp security in bunkers for me to rapidly fill up my racks with them. 25:29 I thought you were going to attempt to send the Dragonfly down the freight elevator. They really need to work on that damn tractor beam. Sh!t in this game has no mass. 17:29 It took me a minute to figure that out as well. I didn't start till Wave 1. Sorry for my running log.
4:38 I think Chris looks at all of us as small so not really a surprise. I think there is a better way to handle inventory and item kiosks. Put a small cannister holder for RMC just like the fuse boxes on the C2. Give us a global inventory but then require an RMC cannister to create that item into a box that comes out of the item bank. Or do you think that the item bank looks large enough to hold all those items in your inventory? It is still a magic inventory, they just made it more inconvenient. On big ships like the Corsair, allow us to have an item bank in the cargo hold or in the suit locker, or hab area. That would give ships with interior space more value. If you want your railgun from your global inventory, you put in an RMC cannister and spawn your gun anywhere you are. Local inventory is not terrible in a single system, but it is going to be a real PITA when we get the promised 100 star systems. The RMC cannister to facilitate the item spawn gives more value to the commodity than just UEC generator. It also limits the stuff you can grab from the global inventory at one time. Making us fly back to places to get a random object is less fun and engaging than requiring us to either go purchase RMC or go salvage RMC to get random objects.
Your 100% right just cause you cannot take hundreds of items around with you will make you more likely to purchase things you need when your out and about in pyro and when u come across the dude hauling food and water when you run out , itll be alot more beneficial seeing those peeps
I accepted the popup quest to get the contraband and thought 'hey that sounds easy'. I take half an hour to get there and there's like 5 ships above the place that destroyed me almost as quick as I saw them. I lost everything. I spawned back at Hurston. The giant ships you use as a little station to move from with med bays are gonna be essential...
if won't stress-test those mechanisms, there will be someone else who will do it anyway. That's kinda why we are there in alpha stage, to test and allow them to make the game resilient against weird behaviour. If they allow unlimited items in the elevator be brought to the personal hangar - yes, try high numbers, maybe they will implement maximums for players server safety.
The double click wasn't added until recently and there was no mention of it in any patch notes. Definitely need a tutorial/how-to when the patch drops as there's a lot of stuff that's going to be not obvious.
double clicking on the box would have been the first or second thing I would have tried :) But, that is me, and I have been told many times that I do things a bit more different than others
Been out of SC for year but keeping an eye on it. Voidy, thanks for the video but the inventory "management" looks a real dogs dinner now. Seems like timesink for no game play factor went up? Thanks again for all the great content you make.
Hey boet. The icon size changing is a bug that came in with wide-screen support. I believe they are going to fix it/remove that UI completely. I could be wrong about the removal but yeah.
Hard agree with the personal equipment terminals! I'm a big fan of having to use a terminal to access your local inventory, that's great, but having that be nothing but an extra step before you just get sent back to the same old *terrible* inventory UI is an awful idea; I seriously hope that's temporary until they can create a proper new UI just for that. My idea would be something like this: When you open the terminal you're greeted by a simple screen that just allows you to select a category/categories; once you've done that (and assuming you've selected character-centric categories) it changes to a new layout with a scrollable list of all the items in those categories down one side - plus search function - and an image of your character on the other that you can rotate and zoom in/out on; so you can equip items, see how your chosen outfit looks on character and swap any given part out for other items if desired, all within the terminal screen UI ... I think that maximises immersion, speeds things up by reducing the need to enter/exit the terminal multiple times, and CIG already have that type of UI in game (on a basic level it would be pretty much the same setup as Fleet Manager in the Mobiglass, but hopefully a lot clearer and more streamlined) EDIT: Forgot to say thanks for the awesome vid. Very helpful and very fun 😅
linking the drawer to the new loot menu would be a cool way to quickly grab gear but the question is how hard would it be for those two systems to communicate with each other
Honestly this video has been filled with truths. There's a LOT of changes that need to be made for these systems to function properly, but it's a fundamental change that needs to be made for the future systems of the game. A lot of people are complaining about how they don't want to move boxes, but they forget that not everything in this game is going to cater towards them. Me and my friends love just putting on some music and moving around boxes from place to place in this game, so I'm personally really excited for this patch!
"Bear sex isnt for you or me but it exists" is that what all those women are goin on about?? I completely misunderstood that whole argument, but I get it now! Thank you for clearing it up, Voidy!
I just want to be able to put stuff and other SCU boxes inside bought SCU boxes while in the freight cargo terminal before bringing it up. They need to have this working before it goes live, none of it was working for me
Since I no longer have access to the PTU, watching videos about 3.24 it sounds like a lot of needless tedium when it comes to equipment and the way its handled in the new UI, its like a mixture of the old way inventory is done and the way everything is equipped. 🤔I think CIG should also start enabling the armor storage on ships too.
Breaking News: If u throw loot or cargo boxes on the platform next to your ship and store your ship, it also stores all the cargo and/or loot. Kinda wild actually cuz.... the freight elevator becomes kinda useless aside from calling thing up
It seems like most people testing on Evocati have been doing it so long that they completely ignore the new player experience. They are so used to bugs that they just dismiss them as inconvenient, then go do some PVP missions. New players are expecting a streamlined experience, and the confusing UIs and bugs like you demonstrate will put off a lot of people.
Good stuff some fears alayed 😂, ad long as the left over items go back in if left un the drawer, hoping dont get a DC with a full drawer and lose it ..
How would people not try double clicking? It's like literally how you open tons of stuff on your PC, including, wait for it, a folder. Which when you think about it a box underneath really is.
We should have a paper doll, or at least equipment slots for different armor pieces, etc., in the left screen (instead of the drawer), and the warehouse inventory in the right screen. Making an extra step is just kinda pants-on-head dumb, and I agree, I don't think it will stick around.
I dont know VoiDude!! I think the game has taken a negative path, at least for me! The tech demo was already a time sink with bugs, but with the release of 3.24 even more time sinks, like Item Banks etc. and even more bugs on top of the old ones! I have lost the will to play the game after playing for some years now, almost every day and not eager getting back in, perhaps not even when they launch the 4.0 But always great watching your vids and will stick with watching you and a couple of other guys! Cheers Bro and take care!
To be fair, most of the mechanics on Star Citizen are not explained or documented in-game. I had to learn most of the mechanics of the game watching RUclips videos. I didn't expect the cargo update to be the exception.
CiG needs to kill their darling and drop the drawer step for items, keep the kiosk and paper doll menu. I want to try stuff on and see it on me.. i cant decide that all ahead of the drawer step.
As satisfying as this was to have the umpteen degrees of timesinking and life soaking confirmed for 3.24, a.k.a Death Of An Inventory Space, Man! If You don't Find What You Are Looking For, Check Out Our Spectrum Selection, etc, the best part was you iterating on your railgun ammo addiction. Thank you for being consistent in this world of clickbait content, missed deadlines and braindead entertainment!
How can I buy a whole ship but not a box in a city. I don't mind cargo being physical, but having to leave just to buy a box and come back is just taking time for the sake of taking time.
The kiosks should definitely have a unique UI focused around equipping gear and filling up personal inventory directly. Why bother with taking things to an 8 scu box first. So unnecessary.
You don't replace something that is more functional than the thing you're replacing it with. You get it to a point where it's more functional and then you replace it.
Ahh yes lets get rid of the old "magical" inventory to make you use the same inventory... and carry a huge container as a "wallet" because that screams immersion 😂
Great, new stuff for a game that's not working. Ghost H has been down for over a year now. Term in tower is locked up and STILL comm sat hacking is not work for well over a year. Any mission with more than 1 like cargo box or bunkers waves still not working. Bounty missions the AI is still skipping if they show up or move at all. Love the game but this year after the 1st update everything is just broke it seems 90% of the time. Try to mine anything, the lag is nuts. BOOOOM The Vulture is about the only thing that works and again, when the panels show up it works more or less but HUGE delays. Love the more SIM/REAL feel, let's hope they just get the game working that was broke with the last patch with this new patch. (good luck too us all) They just need to get the base of the game working more or it just does not matter what new cool things they add. When you log in and can't get out of the bed / room / lift it's just not much fun. Kinda sad when the PTU is running better than the PU. At least on the PTU I can get into a ship or do stuff... WITH YOU on the ARM zones. They get people killed more than anything. We can't even show up and help / kill the pirates because of the zones. Dump the zones and let the players guard the zones!
Probably a placeholder version. I can imagine them adding a little elevator next to it with gun racks and armor stands and ammo crates and such in the future. Exactly like the cargo elevator but then small. They probably didn't want to bite off more than they could chew. This is some really difficult tech. Hasn't been done before.
Im really not too keen on all this tedium they are adding, especially with how halfbaked it looks atm. Guess ill go on a break till they make it halfway decent at least. Or until they scrap it for the next iteration of their "immersion" stuff.
16:49 for how you move gear and items between locations in Star Citizen 3.24

Like no paper doll inventory at all when you call things to the drawer the actual drawer pops open and stuff is in there. A few times the devs said that the item kiosks were only for small items. I think later once we have stuff like armor stands and gunracks we won’t be able to pull anything bigger than like a pistol out of the kiosk and it will be fully physicalized.
you was just talking about not having a medic frame... and well that got me thinking, I know it's a little early cause they're clearly still figuring out the inventory system but after... theres one thing I feel like they're missing that every fps worth it's salt has, A loadout system!, think about it theres a lot of gear and options to get ready for different situations... it would be good if you could go to the bank and have presets where it will quickly auto collect specific gear and automatically move that loadout of gear to your draw so you can quick equip!, just something to think about and CIG could do what they do best and put their own spin on it! i'm basically talking custom presets 3 could do for now
Even with two extra months to cook the hangar update, it's still highly broken.

Database coding is notoriously difficult.
@@FuriousImp Yes, which is why the shouldn’t imply what they did. Again. And again.
@@theamericanaromantic Definitely wholeheartedly agree! Their marketing is absolutely dogsh!t. Either they have terrible communicating skills, or they're doing it on purpose in order to get the funding rolling... because they need it to keep going. Little white lie to make sure the project finishes...
@@theamericanaromantic They should take a page out of Hello Games book. Learn from Sean Murray's mistake. After the notoriously bad launch, they went to work, released a little video or screenshot and literally shortly after release an update. However... SC is much more complex than NMS. Still... you are correct that it's frustrating. I can't speak from expertise or experience though. I'm not a programmer nor do I have any relative experience in any of the many expert fields regarding the SC project.
"Bear sex isn't for you or me, but it's possible, and that makes the game feel bigger."
You're such a philosopher.
Things Voidy needs:
• med pens (see below)
• rail gun ammo (ssee below)
• rail guns (indoor and outdoor models)
• hella mucho wonga (see above)
• tractor beams
• cruzeseseszz
• cargo boxes (see above and below)
• to live his life on the edge (of a freight elevator (like some sort of Space Steven Tyler))
• to not believe the Voice of Reason (even though he should because Nirv is Always Right)
• Ursine "Interaction"
Things Voidy Does Not Need:
• The "Move All" (aka "Lose All") Button
Apart from Things Voidy Needs, it is clear that us mere mortal Handsome Viewers will need such Voidy-based Enlightenment if we are to be saved from the Dark CIG Obfuscation of Knowledge and to master these exotic and not at all over-engineered new Moving Things Around mechanics to, erm, elevate us in this Brave New World to efficiently manage the medpen logistic meta.
Making us fly back to places to get a random object is less fun and engaging than requiring us to either go purchase RMC or go salvage RMC to get random objects.
jassis ou, that accent makes me miss home so much
Your 100% right just cause you cannot take hundreds of items around with you will make you more likely to purchase things you need when your out and about in pyro and when u come across the dude hauling food and water when you run out , itll be alot more beneficial seeing those peeps
I did cargo missions this way 😂, basically bought 5 8SCU big boxes, and use them to fast move all the stuff...
Wonder what happen if you call up a ship paint barrel. Will it place a “placeholder 1/8 SCU box 📦 “ or will it do a barrel, or nothing ?
Tried pulling em loose and tried pulling em in boxes, they disappear into the ether.
Could you move a storage container to the Location side of the UI, add the 8 million med pens then bring it up?
The double click wasn't added until recently and there was no mention of it in any patch notes.
Definitely need a tutorial/how-to when the patch drops as there's a lot of stuff that's going to be not obvious.
double clicking on the box would have been the first or second thing I would have tried :) But, that is me, and I have been told many times that I do things a bit more different than others
Not the best update
Statistically correct ig
Been out of SC for year but keeping an eye on it. Voidy, thanks for the video but the inventory "management" looks a real dogs dinner now. Seems like timesink for no game play factor went up? Thanks again for all the great content you make.
Hey boet. The icon size changing is a bug that came in with wide-screen support. I believe they are going to fix it/remove that UI completely. I could be wrong about the removal but yeah.
No wonder Evo ppl were getting burned out, this looks so rough... Ah well, fingers crossed for SQ42, ey?!
I think that maximises immersion, speeds things up by reducing the need to enter/exit the terminal multiple times, and CIG already have that type of UI in game (on a basic level it would be pretty much the same setup as Fleet Manager in the Mobiglass, but hopefully a lot clearer and more streamlined)
EDIT: Forgot to say thanks for the awesome vid.
Weapon racks would be cool. I wanna be like the scene in the matrix where there's just an endless row of weapons on racks.
Kinda wild actually cuz.... the freight elevator becomes kinda useless aside from calling thing up
Put all gear, weapons and whatever needed into big boxes, put them in the hangar and skip the whole kiosk thing, is that possible?
It seems like most people testing on Evocati have been doing it so long that they completely ignore the new player experience. They are so used to bugs that they just dismiss them as inconvenient, then go do some PVP missions.
New players are expecting a streamlined experience, and the confusing UIs and bugs like you demonstrate will put off a lot of people.
Good stuff some fears alayed 😂, ad long as the left over items go back in if left un the drawer, hoping dont get a DC with a full drawer and lose it ..
Damn dude... that BG3 bear sex analogy was spot on.
It's like whem the server gets laggy and you push through the snazzy layers of new UI and get to the good old press the button stuff.
I wish they would have done the inventory half way instead. Going to a kiosk opens the local inventory the old way
How would people not try double clicking? It's like literally how you open tons of stuff on your PC, including, wait for it, a folder. Which when you think about it a box underneath really is.
When you cross the caution line it aborts the ship selection
We should have a paper doll, or at least equipment slots for different armor pieces, etc., in the left screen (instead of the drawer), and the warehouse inventory in the right screen. Making an extra step is just kinda pants-on-head dumb, and I agree, I don't think it will stick around.
I dont know VoiDude!! I think the game has taken a negative path, at least for me! The tech demo was already a time sink with bugs, but with the release of 3.24 even more time sinks, like Item Banks etc. and even more bugs on top of the old ones! I have lost the will to play the game after playing for some years now, almost every day and not eager getting back in, perhaps not even when they launch the 4.0
But always great watching your vids and will stick with watching you and a couple of other guys!
Cheers Bro and take care!
so but what happens now when u span 100000 med pens on the floor and open than hangar i want to see
Why dont freight elevators just move things that cant be hand held, aka big boxes furniture etc...?
Finally regular law abiding RMC enthusiasts will feel the pain the less legal among us feels when we have to unload a full C2 solo.
If they dont change the UI for the kiosk ppl are just going to circumvent it somehow(like filling a cargo box)
ok but all good ships have a name
Or, just store your gear in boxes in your hangar, & pray to Chris the boxes are persistent lol
"this is the way things have always been meant to work" precedes to make a video about workarounds for cigs lack of foresight
Give me a quick way to change outfits and make it so we can’t wear armor for everything
100% the icon size is a bug. On 4K the scale of the icons is even bigger. A medpen image is literally the size of my backpack window.
Oh God as a ultrawide user I'm scared to see how horrendous It is this time around
I thought this had been on ptu since the most recent xeno event. Fuckin hell cig get in the game lol.
wait, is it just me or does every time he accesses the new menus there's a clear muffled npc grunting sound... VOIDY.... WHATS IN THE BOX?!
Ahh yes lets get rid of the old "magical" inventory to make you use the same inventory... and carry a huge container as a "wallet" because that screams immersion 😂
you crazy!
I think they are renaming “armasist zones” to “green zone”
Time Sink Citizen
Great, new stuff for a game that's not working. Ghost H has been down for over a year now. Term in tower is locked up and STILL comm sat hacking is not work for well over a year. Any mission with more than 1 like cargo box or bunkers waves still not working. Bounty missions the AI is still skipping if they show up or move at all. Love the game but this year after the 1st update everything is just broke it seems 90% of the time. Try to mine anything, the lag is nuts. BOOOOM
The Vulture is about the only thing that works and again, when the panels show up it works more or less but HUGE delays.
Love the more SIM/REAL feel, let's hope they just get the game working that was broke with the last patch with this new patch. (good luck too us all)
They just need to get the base of the game working more or it just does not matter what new cool things they add.
Real smart to turn OFF the lights, when there is a DEADLY massive hole in the floor
So star citizen just needs bears ?
🤣
the inbetween personal inventory at the kiosk feels just faked, like far from intended but it needs to be something
Item kiosk worst idea ever... Items still pop out of thin air! Its the same thing but takes longer. Dumb. Cargo elevator IS FIRE!
F cig focusing on breaking simple sh*t like inventory instead of focusing releasing the damn game
