  • This is a short demo of one of the rarest and most mythical overdrives from the sixties.
This unit was purchased from the original owner, who had sailed around the world with it, plugged into an old transistor radio.
It's a jangly loud sounding box. Probably insanely loud without the OX.
Again.. I'm Danish, my English is not the best, but hopefully the message gets trough.
    Gear in this video:
    1965 Dallas Rangemaster
    '68 Marshall Super Lead
    UA OX BOX
    Jerry Jones Shorthorn
    '58 Fender Duo Sonic
    '59 Jazzmaster

In the late 80s/early 90s in the London suburbs you used to see a few of these for sale. Brought mine in 91. At the time people wanted TubeScreamers for pushing amps into drive. I always find dropping your guitar volume a bit gives great dynamic results.

Does it give You extra clean headroom🖖?

@@Marylandmusicdk I put a switch to select the input cap at the back side, with 15nF the headroom is really good. For the enclosure I used a small box I found at work burried in the ground. I cleanned, painted an put some rangemaster stikers to make it look like the real one.. ..looks great

Do you know which transistor is in your TB?
    .. I'm guessing it's the Oc44

@@JheridanSoe I Think it is! I just found a photo I found of the guts, and all I can see is “OC” but of my memory works its the oc44

@Marylandmusicdk cool, thanks. It sounds like an Oc44. I'm undecided about which model to get,oc44 or oc71. 44 might be the way to go.
      Great video,thanks 👍
