Once a fire is that hot you really don't need compressed air to atomize the fuel - it'll vaporize as it moves through the combustion chamber. It'll be less efficient and fairly hard to light with used oil as the fuel, but it'll work.

At present, I'm still using propane to fire my beer keg foundries, & although my burner will produce the correct temps needed, I haven't been able to produce the needed BTU's to reliably melt 8kg of copper. What kind of waste oil? Synthetic, multigrade, single grade, or whatever you can get your hands on? Does it make a difference? Is oil just gravity feed into burner and uses air pressure to draw it in? What kind of plastic used for 3D printer parts, ABS?
The burner works on any kind of oil even veg. Fuel is gravity fed but compressed air is used to spray it into the furnace. PLA for the printed parts it does not get hot outside the furnace.
@@scharkalvin Super glue works or epoxy, but I have some Polyweld from 5 Star adhesives that works great BUT do not deal with this company they don't always supply the goods, don't answer emails. Now supplying in plastic bottles, the adhesive migrates into the bottle and when you come to use it there is non left. 2 friends i recommended it to had to go to Paypal for a refund.

@@mertavlamaz6708 I can't answer that. I never make iron castings but I have melted some just see if it's capable. Oil fired is hotter than propane and the way most home casters go for iron melting.

You can use a heating burner, fan, ignition and blower off a domestic heating boiler ( furnace if you are American) using kerosene. i don't think it will handle heavy oil and unless you have one lying around the cost would high.

Very Impressive ! if things go well i would like to settle in a relatively mild climate doing the off grid thing and i’ve been thinking about different Crafty ideas to supplement a heat source of burning Wood from the timber on the property i’ve been looking at this just might be a way to do it using radiant floor heating installed in concrete slabs

@@myfordboy Ok. Just curious. I have been burned in the past by making changes to fan diameters / weights. Learned the hard way at the cost of a motor or two. Them supply house guys that tell you "close enough" are liars. Lol. Momentum, torque, amp draw and all that good stuff.

Have a guess at how many kW of heat an oil burner like that produces :) Maybe 200 or even 500kW. Where are you going to get the electricity from to produce that heat? Or do you have a mini nuclear generator in your backyard? Just having fun. But please do some research on electric melting furnaces.

Looks very nice. It might be worthwhile to make a shroud for the motor to keep splash and stray junk out of those open ports in the motor housing.
I was thinking exactly the same thing. It seems a shame to go to all that trouble to then leave the motor connectors in particular open to damage.
There is a fan in the motor so the holes need to be left open.

It seems the only thing supporting the turbine motor with all its weight and vibration is the two small screws embedded in plastic, or am I wrong?
2 M4 screws pass through the case into tapped holes in the motor.

It’s a good idea to use used oil as fuel. I wonder how you made the pump to feed it.
The nozzle is a siphon one . Compressed are passing through the nozzle sucks the oil in. There is no pump.

I reckon it's a siphon where compressed air is kinda necessary to pull the oil as well as atomise it so that it readily burns.

If the blower is running to produce the correct amount of combustion air the burn is just as clean as propane fuel.

The blower is an exact dimensional copy of the leaf blower I formally used. I expect the leaf blower manufacturers know what they are doing.

This burner can be used with any of those oils, also kerosene, diesel oil. white spirit etc.

It's PLA, there is no heat from the walls of my furnace. I can put my bare hands on the outside when it's working.
