I'm from samar who's currently in cebu. Idk why I cried when manong started speaking in waray. I guess I miss home and the food ❤
you have depression.
kay uli gad.
Me too ! Proud gud ak sak lugar ❣️ I love Samar ❣️❣️❣️
sus kaharaniay l Samar
It is amazing to see someone as humble as Kuya listening to his golden principle that it is not about making a lot of money but to make a quality binagol that everyone would be happy & appreciative. A simple salamat is good enough for him. Long live Kuya and keeping the tradition intact. Great video.
OMG when he started speaking Waray, it made me jump up and say "I understand him!" I was born in Samar but moved to the US when I was 4. I can't speak Tagalog because I grew up speaking Waray and English. Proud moment! I hope to one day try your binagol, sir!
I’m from Tanauan, Leyte, and I attest to the fact that Alvarez’ binagol is one of a kind ❤️ I felt really mushy when Mano started talking about how they went on with their business even after Yolanda. Kudos to The Fat Kid Inside team for going through great lengths just to feature real stories such as this 💖💖💖 Looking forward for more!!
Thank you po
I live in the US right now but I am from Guiuan, E. Samar. My homesick heart really needed this. Thank you, Erwan. Mahidlaw na gud it pagkaon nga Waray.
taga guiuan spotted! kumusta ngada?
me as well...

"Di naman amin sinasabing kailangan naming kumita ng maraming pera dahil lang sa Binagol"
"Mapasaya namin ang mga tao, Masarapan sila sa ginawa namin, Kuntento na kami"
"Isang Salamat lang sabihin nyo saamin, Masaya na kami"
Wise words kuya! Wise Words! hoping na the next generations of your kin will be as humble as you.
Proud son of him ❤
Thank you sir jc bilbao 😊
Love this food from my frnd before
yes very inspiring
englis ?
"Chocolate Moron" is also a famous delicacy in Leyte, Tacloban. !! 😘😘😘
I think they tried, erwan was asking for recos on who makes good moron when they were in Leyte. I'm not sure if they were able to find one that would allow them to film. Maybe sa next episode??
@@deelane7347 i hope so. I'd like to know why it's called moron.
@@allainesy4612 probably from the Pre-romanesque term "morr" meaning rocky. Some suman moron recipes have peanuts for a somewhat rocky texture. I saw this interesting link from Wikipedia. en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mor%C3%B3n_de_la_Frontera
@@deelane7347 Tony's moron in Abuyog, Leyte.
@@tnoi yeah, we do that in Samar…. Ours are with peanuts!
It's cooked in Bagol, the shell of the coconut, hence the name 'Binagol' to translate it roughly, 'shelled'.
Good video tho! Looking forward to our province! ♥️
I fell in love with it the first time I tasted it. Most underrated filipino food in the world.
Such quality videos from Erwan's team. This could easily pass off as a documentary from National Discovery. 💖
or National Geographic or Discovery… Pinagsama mo yung 2…
I've never heard of talyan. The richness of our culture and history blows my mind again. I hope my nieces growing up outside of the Philippines will someday appreciate the uniqueness of the Filipino culture. Our food is diverse and it's woven into our family-centered culture.
Talyan grows tall with big leaves, just liked elephant ears plant, I think they are same plants, I saw India growing plenty of them, but in U. S. Mostly for beautiful landscaping.
Just bought Binagol today as pasalubong for my co-trainers in Cebu. And I am confident that this is going to be such a treat for them.
And this is what you call “quality content” 👏🏻 Thank you for sharing some parts of the PH’s culture. ♥️
My mother Grandfather named PROCOPIO ALVAREZ is from Dagami Leyte..my mother said there Lolo always made this Binagol since they are kids.Hope to meet this family ..
Well produced and well done! Coming from a country (Uganda) that has over 60 ethnic groups-each with their own staple, I am so pleased to follow this series, learning about the Filipino 'traditional' foods and cultures. Keep creating. How many to go?😆😆😆
Also, this inspires me to document the traditional meals here and share with the world...at some point!!! So,Thank you!👏
@Blessing Naturinda
Please do! Now that Media possibilities ,we can reach and learned from other countries, I love all sort kind of foods. Love and food can give Love and Peace ☮️ for the whole world!
💖💓💟☮️
I've eaten this 15 years ago when i visited Tacloban city. I bought lots of it and brought it abroad. I loved it and missed it.
This brought back so many memories. I was born and raised in Iloilo City but whenever my dad would travel to Tacloban for work, he would bring back these delicacies that easily became my favorite - binagol and moron. They seemed pretty weird and unfamiliar to me as an Ilongga at first but I could not get enough of them after! I would even give a look of disapproval if dad came home without them. Lol.
@Megan Marie,
Those are my favorite, well, bibingka, sampilot, puto,
I dream of them, while I'm awake! 💓💟☮️
You should try to rediscover "sinarongsong". It's the most heavenly kakanin from Samar.
