Normally amazon would never sell fake sunglasses because they would get sued but it appears that Pit Viper does not actually own the trade mark for the pit viper name so because of that fakes may be legal.
Now I can not confirm that but that's what I have even hearing from people who say they have inside sources.

My Dad used to get “pit vipers” in the 90’s at work. They were extremely common and cheap safety glasses. The pit vipers are identical clones to those old safety glasses just with rad colors. These guys had a genius business idea selling $8 safety classes for $100

The "real" ones aren't even that great. I bought a pair directly from Pit Viper years ago and polarization coating rubbed off the lenses and they scratch very easily. These are basically cheap military sunglasses that they paint and charge 10 times what the normally cost, so the "fake" ones are probably just as good as the real ones

As someone who owns multiple pairs of vipers, they are all "fake" they are made off the expired patent of the Oakley Blade, they are all made in China and more than likely by the same contractor. So save the money and get the "fakes".

The "fake" Pit Vipers polarize layer have lasted longer than my real pairs lol. Since then I've purchased several knockoff pairs as backups at only $12 each pair. Minus shipping.

@@jarenventuresi have several knockoffs too and the nose part doesn’t really bother me as much but again i probably just got used to having them on. i can agree that the fake ones have been lasting longer than the real ones though and kinda like what he said if they break then its not that expensive to just buy another knockoff
For what it's worth, I wear corrective lenses as I'm nearly blind. My prescription glasses were $500 and didn't come with polarized lenses. That's corrective lenses and some anti scratch coating. I bought the fake ones to fit over my glasses. They work for their intended purpose. 🤷🏻♀️ I tell people they're knock offs if they ask (not that pretentious). But they're so stupidly comparable - that I didn't see a purpose to spend another $150CDN on the style I wanted from pv only to inevitably scratch or damage them. I don't care about the box, they block the sun and UV completely. Work very well for cutting the water when I fish too. I didn't see a point in having a collective total of over a half grand on my face for my eyes. So $20 fake PVs it was.

I bought a pair for only $25 so you really cant go wrong. they do offer UV protection I tested mine out with a UV detector So i bought 5 pairs for the price of one authentic pair plus these are not illegal so im fine with them

Keep in mind low quality sunglasses may be dangerous as the layer that contains the uv protection may wear off leaving the tint only causing eyes to dialate without being protected worse than no glasses
Idk though if the real pit vipers are high quality too
brought 2 fake pairs recently, both look mint, and not damaged at all, ill stick to paying 70 bucks rather than over 200 thanks

Guarantee they both came from the same factory. For instance: The oil you buy at any store and any brand, came from the same oil truck and was bottled in the same plant. Your just paying an extra 10-20 bucks for a branded bottle.
True, I worked for several beverage companies and it’s the same thing, some companies have contract for grocery companies to make their store brand .

I was on the fence about dropping $119 on a pair of 2000 MERIKA’s for work, but seeing how they’re made in communist China, I find that it’d be absurd to buy something “patriotic” when it’s not even manufactured in my home country. Thank You for that information

Your cons for the fakes were kind of a stretch. Pit Vipers aren’t really high quality nor are they worth their price point.

So, had to order a pair of fakes off ebay because they weren't restocking any of the styles I wanted. Gotta be honest, in comparison to the genuine ones my friends have, you really can't tell. The authentics are built so cheaply to begin with anyways, the only real difference in quality to me is the turbo adjustment on mine will flip up all the way as shown in the video, but otherwise the quality is basically the same between them. None of the other issues noted in this review apply to mine except the shipping packaging. Other than doing the right thing and supporting the real company by buying real pair, there's really no point to spend 3x as much on authentics when the fakes are essentially the same thing. I'll still get some authentic ones when they restock the pair I want just to say I have an authentic pair. But I'm also gonna buy more fakes, because they really are the same thing.

Pretty sure from what I been seeing... the end of the ear hooks on the real ones have a hole and the fakes don't also if I'm not mistaken. Which was not mentioned here.

I didn't really know pit vipers was a thing until I seen them on Facebook market place. I just liked the style and bought them for $25 a piece. But now I've seen this and I'm going to purchase some real ones to see for myself

I have held a few real pairs of pit vipers and to be honest I’ve been an Oakley person for a while and I was disappointed in the quality of the plastic that the real pit vipers had. For $119 dollars for a “2000s” pair I would’ve rather paired for a used pair of oakleys that feel sturdy and well built. The fake pit vipers honestly would be better for the money if you don’t have that extra 60 but still want that look.

But do the fakes protect against UV rays? I kinda doubt it. If the company is shady enough to plagiarize another brand then they are shady enough to lie about quality or just not provide it at all.
Everyone talking shit about buying the real Pit Vipers but in my experience if you buy cheap shit you end up buying it twice (the guy in this video literally accidentally ripped the whole frame arm off). If price or value is your concern most companies have pretty consistent sales just watch for those, I literally just got a pair of Pit Viper 2000’s off their site for $50 with shipping.
They're the same glasses. Exact same frame from an older military design. Army "SPECS" frame to be exact. You can get old surplus specs for like 8-10 bucks. Willing to bet the only difference is the lens material, which causes the shades to flex more.

Just bought my 10 year old a pair of fake ones off Walmart. No way am I buying a $90 pair of sunglasses for a kid just so they can break them or lose them and they seem very good for fakes and when you pull out the over the ear piece to make it longer it doesn't pop out like the one on this video.
