You just keep coming with all this great knowledge! Your transparency and dedication is mesmerizing! Thanks again for all that you do for this community!!
As a collector this whole thing helped me to understand the Pokemonmarket better! At the moment I‘m not thinking about how to make profit out of single boxes, cards or boosterpacks but you explained as good as no one else could! Thanks for that Danny and keep up the good work! Greetings from germany and stay healthy
I watched one of your videos a few months back when I got back into pokemon. I was about to sell my bulk for a booster box. 3 months later I've made a little over a grand, not counting postage, envelopes, sleeves, top loaders, etc. I've mainly sold vintage cards, a dozen or so rares but mainly common, uncommon vintage and trainers. Your videos are awesome and planning on becoming an online retailer soon.
This is the guy to purchase from. You want to purchase trust-worthy packs and support someone who cares about the consumer base, this guy is the guy to support! Just purchased 10 champion path packs from The Colosseum. Can't wait to see my pulls!
I've recently started exactly what you're talking about (in Australia). Margins are indeed razor thin and competition is wild; I wouldn't advise someone starting this if you think you're gonna make bank from day one. You need to work at it constantly, build solid relationships with suppliers and do everything you can to keep customers happy. They key is I love Pokemon so I find it enjoyable to stay tuned in to what the latest sets are and why they are/aren't selling. I also collect for myself so that can be a big bonus if you enjoy what you sell/are involved in!
I really respect you for helping us understand the business aspect of it all. I am serious about the TCG and I really want to start up a business with pokemon cards. You're awesome for what you do! 😁
You presented all the information needed to start a business. It's very circumstantial for where you live so there is so much you can do there. Like you said there must be a love for what your doing to be successful.
Danggggggggg bro your videos get me hyped!!!!!! I just launched my channel on the first and I can’t get enough!!! So much fun and energy!!!!! Keep on collecting!!!!!
You're really inspiring me to get this going. I've been buying packs for a while now and just started debating on selling. Your tips have helped me lean towards starting up a store even if it doesn't grow as big as I'd like it to.
I actually enjoy your videos because you seem very real. Keep your website up, I like what you’re going for with prices and would really recommend your site from what I saw. I’ll be doing business with you soon!
As a hobbyist, would getting a license be a good way to save money if I like opening product? Do distributors look at how much you're selling/is there a limit to how much you can open from your orders?
Keep up the great work. I see stores with empty shelves. Im a trucker. When I see that they had some in stock and none are there. It means even distributors are struggling to get product on the shelf. I wouldnt be surprised if distributors stop distributing to walmarts that let people steal the cards.
Been debating asking you these questions in DM for quite a while. Wasn't sure if it was appropriate or if I would be stepping on toes by asking, thank you so much for sharing! Cannot wait until part 2
I’d love to buy sealed booster boxes through this guy, I collect sealed ones and the amount of resealing going on is insane and they’re insanely good at deceiving ppl. Wouldn’t mind paying a bit more to know that it’s factory sealed.
Can you readdress the topic of starting up a storefront with the current climate of Pokémon and supply chain issues etc. just a 2022 version of the same video? Maybe more in depth? I’d watch a 20 minute break down for sure! Keep up the great work and thanks for all the info!
Is it illegal to buy wholesale products if you aren't part of a business that sells them, my family owns a business just not one that sells cards or could I take some of the cards and sell the remainder in the family business?
He was just 14 his parents built a very strange machine. Then he took a look inside of it there was a great big flash everything just changed his molecules got all rearranged He’s a phantom, gotta catch em all cause he’s DANNY PHANTOM
This is the first video I see on your channel and it was exactly what I was looking for! Thank you so much. Got yourself a new subscriber. I have a small business myself, sole proprietorship in industrial resale, and selling Pokémon cards through distributors and resellers is the exact same thing I do with my business, except its industrial equipment such as hydraulic and pneumatic cylinders, valves, pumps, adhesive, filters etc. I’ve been looking for something else to do for more income and this is perfect. Not sure if I need another tax ID though, I might if its a different company name. Anyways, thank you for the info and look out for a new reseller in west TX. GO! PACK! GO!
Danny I love this, thank you so much. I love pokemon so much and I have always wanted to start a business, I love the collecting and money aspect in this it hits a spot in me that makes me so happy. Thank you for the info to help my pokemon business journey!!
have been held back by stores telling me i need a brick and mortar store...selling through tcgplayer..wanted to start my dream. grading selling cards.. thanks for the helpful info
This is the most informative and interesting vid I´ve seen so far yet. I am in the process to look for distributors, which are delivering to Turkey (Istanbul) at same time. Its kinda pain in the butt but there is high demand for TCGs in Turkey. So next spring/summer 21 I am definetely going to open a store about TCGs and other merch articles. THIS VID IS JUST GREAT ..... I appreciate your efforts of making this video :)))
Danny ! what is a good place to purchase cases ? I ma interested in a case of Pokemon cards. i am interested win buying a case of twilight M. just don't know any trusted sources., please le me know if you can point me in the correct direction. thank you brother.
@@charlesa3505 post is negotiable so are distributor prices depending on how much you are purchasing. Shipping is calculated into your cost of goods. Shipping isnt free it is just attached to the up front cost.
Hey Collin- depending on your volume you eventually get a pretty good discount on shipping. Working for UPS it all depends on the amount you're shipping. More than likely starting out you aren't going to meet those requirements. My advice is to factor that cost of shipping into it. A lot of people don't have the ability to eat that cost of shipping. Maybe incentivize if they spend X amount with you they get free shipping. I would maybe look into Pirate Ship. They offer a good service to use with USPS as I know a lot of people can't afford using UPS/FEDEX. Good luck!
I’ve been trying my best to leave my phone in my bedroom when I get home from work so I have time to spend with my family for a few hours. Then after the kids go to bed I hit the grind!
*Correction* Most distributors do require a brick and mortar store for new accounts. this was a change made a few years ago. online only re-sellers are not able to get access to a traditional distributor.
I'm in the process of getting my business license and will get the re seller permit! Exciting times. I looked up the websites of the distributors listed and there was only a couple that were A. Accepting applications B. Working with online retailers. Hopefully one of them will be willing to work with me, once I get everything set up.
I like the hustle, I've been doing the same. I work for my salary Monday-Friday then I hustle after work weekends and all night. Liked and subscribed for more info, I'm ready to learn from you
Love this video, Danny - super interesting. I think people who aren't involved with distributors see them as mysterious figures since not many people talk about them. So thanks for that info, and thanks for the brutal honesty of telling us how difficult it is.
Great video. I learned a few things that I didn’t know before. What distributors will actually sell to you without a B&M? In my experience a lot of distributors won’t even talk to you until you send pictures of your store.
Following for an answer. A lot of this business really feels like a who you know kinda thing without opening a B&M, so this would be a very helpful starting point.
wonder if you would make a follow up video to this? because of the boom that has built up since this video, most of these distributors are not currently working w online only sellers...which make sense, since they are wanting to ensure that local card/hobby shops and their bigger chains have access to the cards. definitely interesting to hear the thoughts of starting to get into Pokemon sales now in the current 2021 climate vs near end of 2020. and it being the 25th anniversary this year isnt helping either, as a lot of nostalgia will probably tried to be pushed
We get some ccg products from southern hobby supply. They have a warehouse in St.Louis where our store is located. They have been great and some stuff randomly comes through

I'm a UK guy living in Hong Kong looking to pick up large quantities of the Chinese and Japanese product and sell abroad to the west. Was just wondering if it's the same over here too. I don't speak the local language and seems like local card shops only pick up a couple of cases each so I'm wondering if they are licensed or not too.

I've collected since 1999, I sell my vintage extras, buy a few cards here and there.
