🏆🏆🏆ABSOLUTELY THE BEST tutorial for getting to the heater box. The explanation was great!!! I have a 87 Z31 GLL , with the rectangular steering pad cover with the buttons, and I think I’m going to have to do what you did. Smh… not looking forward to that. My AC and heat are not coming out of the main front vents on the dash. So based off of what you explained I think I may have at least one leak in the vacuum tubes that supply vacuum to the box. You also mentioned about disconnecting that wiring harness on the driver side under the steering wheel after 90K miles. My sensor light has been lit on the dash for years. The dealer said they had to put in a code to reset it. I’m not sure that that was true now. I was trying to take screens shots as a reference as you were working. My dad gave me this car when I was a young man. We recently lost my dad so I feel close to him when I drive it. So I am trying my best to keep it running because it reminds me of my dad. He loved that car and I do too. I appreciate you for making this video and i gotta say that you are super knowledgeable to be able to know all of this information. Have a great day and be safe. Happy holidays to you and yours. 🏆🏆🏆🏆

What is the primary cause of a bad vacuum door actuator or all the causes - and which one is the most crucial to the system - in case u can't find a repalcement - can u switch them around . I just want some front facing air - I imagine replacing all the vac hose would be a good idea as long as it is out - What else would be good to do as long as you have that out. Thanks Joe - a nice refresher course - I removed a dash many years ago - but it's nice to have your vid as a reminder .

Usually the issue is a perished vacuum line but the electrical solenoids can stick and the can be tore down and lubed.

I just reviewed your vid again and I’m making progress on my z31 1987 GLL. I’m still not getting AC out of my front facing vents. It’s coming out of the top dash vents. I’m wondering if my vacuum canister is working or not. Should you hear the canister running? If so I don’t hear a peep. I’m trying not to take the entire dash off if possible. If you can take a minute to give me some insight I would greatly appreciate it. Thank you in advance.

Test your system vacuum using a manual pump with gauge on the line running through the fire wall. Most likely it wont hold vacuum and you will be pulling the dash like this and replacing the lines and or the actuator.

@@XenonZcar I tried the manual pump and it was a slow drop in pressure. I’m gonna try it again because the vacuum tube from the canister to the line that goes into the firewall is what I used to attach the pump. So I’m hoping that that leak is in that section only. Next step is to connect up even closer. Thanks again.

Holy shit dude! Great vid! I wondered where the magic happened. My 85 has a vac leak somewhere as it’s blowing hot air thru defrost. Think I’ll just drive it n spring and fall.😮

HELP!!!! Lol. I just got my hands on the side view mirror gasket molding kit for my 87z31. For some reason the triangular pieces seem not to snap in place. Am I just not pressing it hard enough or is there some type of ritual that I need to perform only during a lunar eclipse to get this to work? Please give me some pointers if you have any. Does the triangular part fit flush against the gasket or does it mount on the door some type of way? If there is a diagram or anything out there to help me I would greatly appreciate that assistance. Have a great day and thanks in advance!! Zzzzzzz

Depending where you purchased the trim will depend on how it fits. Past power was selling them and the fitment needs work as the pins do not fit without trimming them down to let it pop into the stock holes. If you purchased OEM parts they should just snap in as well as most 3d printed versions.

@@XenonZcar Yep! I ordered them from Past Power and you are absolutely correct. They do appear to need some work. Smh. There seems to be a “half moon” shaped “support piece “ surrounding each nub that sticks out that should push directly into the holes. I think I’m going to trim that portion off and hope for the best. That may give me enough nub to push all the way in. Thanks so much for helping once again!!! Take care! 🏆🏆🏆

@@clarkkent4991 When I talked to them about it that was their solution and they said the instructions show it. Well I didn't get instructions but that might be because of the deal I did with them.

We save everything when we part out a car.
I just parted out an 84na gl model a few weeks ago. I think the heater box is still available.
