    I totally agree with you! CD Baby is a fantastic platform for independent artists to distribute their music. They offer great services like music distribution, publishing, and marketing, which is why they're considered one of the best in the business. And it's awesome to hear that they've helped you with your music as well.
    I also appreciate the informative content that CD Baby puts out on their RUclips channel. They offer valuable advice on topics like music promotion, royalties, and music industry trends, which is really helpful for artists who are just starting out. So kudos to them for sharing their knowledge and expertise with the community

    I've been using CD Baby since the beginning of February. You didn't mention that the 10$ is for standard distribution. For their Pro service, which includes full publishing, it's 50$ per album/single. Which is whatever to me because I only care about the distribution, but for those who want full publishing, that might matter. Regardless, the only minor complaint I have about CD Baby is they don't let you submit cover art without text. You MUST have your artist name on the cover art. I had to change all my covers to reflect that. It's a minor detail but still annoying considering I see artists submitting cover art with no text all the time in other distributors. They also change your album title. If it includes 'EP' in the title, they remove it for some reason.

    • @Payusnomind
      @Payusnomind  Год назад +3

      Peace. There was no need to mention Pro because it's unnecessary. If an artist wants to collect Publishing they can sign up for Songtrust directly, CD Baby uses Songtrust. I give a 20% discount on Songtrust as well. It's only a $100 one-time fee vs. the price of CD Baby Pro.

    CD Baby still takes 9% commission, but people make too much fuss about commission anyway. 9% is fine, it's not like most of us are going to be making millions. And, for those lucky few that do, you will be snapped up by a major label at that point!
    CD Baby have always been one of the best and this new upfront pricing puts them right up top for most artists.

      Yeah, a few artists gave me access to their Spotify for Artists and I was stunned to find out how many weren't recouping annual distribution fees. When I say weren't recouping, I mean like nowhere close. Kind of sad man. With CD Baby, at least the release can pay for itself over time.

      CD Baby is one of the most artist friendly services I know of. A lot of things that Distrokid charges for NOBODY in the business ever charged for. CD Baby always allowed you to put your name or label name for your releases. Even things like distributors including "Custom release dates" in their price comparisons. Again, every distributor used to allow custom release dates by default. Only Distrokid was charging for custom release dates so other distributors started highlighting it as a feature.

      @@Payusnomind I’ve actually set up to move my whole catalog over. They after 50% off for pre existing releases. The more and more I keep digging into them, I’m liking CD baby way more than Distrokid. By next month I’ll have moved over to them exclusively (and their sister company Soundrop for cover songs). The discounts they give out, the monetization options, and just the security of keeping your stuff up permanently and physical merchandise just sounds way better than what I’m currently using.

    Does CD baby still take 30% from youtube content id or is it now 9% for content id? I see theres no yearly fee but its $10 per release?

    • @Payusnomind
      @Payusnomind  Год назад +8

      Still takes 30%, still takes 9%. It comes down to what you want though. A lot of these distributors that give you 100% of Content ID either suck or have accusations of stealing artist's money. Outside of those guys, the lowest you can get Content ID for is about 20%. The thing about CD Baby is, peace of mind. 9% is the price of peace of mind. Had an artist end up in the hospital for a long stretch, debit card couldn't be charged, he comes home, all his music was gone because he wasn't paying the annual fee. The annual fees can be so low they seem like nothing but life often has something to say about it.

    if i release with cdbaby.... will my music will be uploaded forever?

    thanks in advance!

    • @Payusnomind
      @Payusnomind  Год назад

      Yes, they do. That's one of the major reasons for choosing CD Baby. I had releases with both Tunecore and CD Baby since 2005. I hit a rough patch in my life and my music got removed from Tunecore but through it all, it never came down from CD Baby. Since 2005! Now, you have to decide if that's worth paying 9% of revenue for because if you make enough to cover that cost, likely you'd be ok with Tunecore.
