I never had a pair of Doc Martens, I kind of still want to get a pair someday. I’m 5’11” with a size 11 foot, though. I wore Birkenstocks back in ‘93 or ‘94 when I was 14. I bought them again in 2014 and have been wearing them ever since. I can’t believe I went 20 years without them. I still have that Brooke Shields issue of Cosmopolitan. Whenever I watch vintage commercials late at night, I always start craving some food that’s no longer made. Food tasted better back then.
It's interesting how those shoes as well as many others from the 90s came back around in style. They may be here to stay now I'm not sure. I know exactly what you mean by watching some of the vintage commercials. Thank you for watching and sharing some of your memories!
Lisa, I bought a pair of Doc Martin sandals few months ago and they are built like a Tonka truck. These things will last for years if not decades. As for Brooke Shields, take a look at her in that magazine you have. You will also be looking at a "picture" of one of my cousins. That meaning she was a dead ringer for Brooke Shields. If placed side by side you could not tell them apart.

I moved from mid KY to Detroit in 99, and my family was in the Cincinnati area. I came home almost every weekend. My F-150 had 2 tanks, and gas on the high side, by the interstate was .99 a gallon. I could afford to fill both tanks in those days. And I paid cash for my 3-year-old truck, that was beautiful, for 1500.00. Thanks for another great video.
One thing from the '90s that I'm sure hardly anyone else remembers is a line of grape juices put out by Earnest & Julio Gallo. They were made from ( un-fermented ) wine grapes, and I really liked the different flavors ( there were three, though I can't remember which grapes they were from; I'm not a wine drinker ). Unfortunately, they only came in weird "carafe"-style bottles that were about 2/3 the size of a standard juice bottle, and about twice as expensive, so I didn't get to enjoy very many before they were cancelled.
Mcdonalds healthy burgers & Snapple were the only products that I remember! I don't know where I was that I missed all of those, & no wonder why they arn't around!

We had a WebTV setup in the late 90s. It was a cheap way to surf the internet. It may be laughable by today's standards, but back then, computers were still expensive, so this was a good alternative. I shelved it around 2002 and reactivated it briefly in 2010-2011 as MSNTV as temporary internet at our cabin.

6:04 when this car came out I did a research paper on it for my science class in high school. I remember telling everyone they were going to be mass produced and replace gas cars in our lifetime. I told them the government would off tax breaks and other incentives to buy electric vehicles. My teacher knew I was right but my classmates laughed and scoffed at the idea…
At one point I had to do a paper on what I thought the future would be like, and I remember saying that personal computers would stop being so popular, and people would start subscribing to "Computing" as a utility. My version was basically that everyone would have dumb terminals in their homes, and all the processing and storage would be handled remotely by a mainframe. You would simply buy server time. Now with mobile internet and cloud computing more or less dominating the landscape, I'd say I was pretty much bang on target.
I drank a lot of Zima during the 90s at the clubs. It was great with a shot of grenadine in it. It had a short-lived comeback back in 2020. I bought several cases of it, and still have some. (Jan Griffiths).

@@danasuperstar They still make cars in fun colors, they just don't make (or sell) as many mass market cars in fun colors (if you want a Lamborghini in a fun color, you can get one though :)
Haha I learned how to drive in a geo metro, that's what the driving instructor had. Ahhh, the 90's, good times. Forgot all about that till ur comment 😂
We LOVED Orbitz. It was like an early Boba. The tiny gelatins were chewy. And the drink was yummy.
I loved them too. I don't remember the gelatin balls being chewy (more squishy), but they were tasty, and the drink was good as well. And the polka dot #2's were also entertaining ☺️
I remember most of these! Great memories😍
Thank for watching and commenting Brenda!
@@RhettyforHistory You're welcome❤
The 90s were my partying days, so ZIMA is the only thing in this video that I remember.🍺🤪
Thank you for watching and sharing what you remember!
And they sold wine coolers in 3 liter bottles here in the South😂
Exactly, I missed it all but I was probably watching MTV and pulling all nighters studying
I get the spring water for pets concept. I had a goldfish for 10 years and we only used Zephyrhills spring water. We're convinced not using local tap water is the reason for his long life
Oh man that olestra hit different back in the 90s lol you ever eat some of those in the cafeteria at school?? By mid day you were unleashing hell fire in that bathroom 😂
I would totally buy that orbit's drink if they started making it again. It was honestly really delicious. I also miss the original Clearly Canadians, the ones in the glass bottles.
I found Clearly Canadian in glass bottles at Kroger.
Oh wow thanks I'll check it out
That stuff sucked if you puked and got some of those goober balls stuck in your sinuses.
I would too! My friends and ! loved that drink.
Food Lion also has the Clearly Canadian single bottles for $4 each.
I remember those fajitas from McDonald’s! I actually thought they were good 😅 I remember my mom getting them. I brought this up to her and she swears she has no idea but I remember her getting them all the time. I can still taste what they were like!
The chicken wings were awesome
So forgotten, I didn't even remember most of the list! Thanks for the upload. I always look forward to seeing your content!
Some of these had a really short shelf life. Thank you for watching and I'm happy to hear you are enjoying the content!
I enjoyed this video. Really took me back in time! I personally loved the McLean!! Was sad to see it go!
I remember when Wendy’s sold pitas. Loved the Greek one. Anyone remember those?
Yes! I loved those pitas!
I was wondering if those would be mentioned. I didn’t think anyone else would remember them but I LOVED them!
@@samuelschick8813 OK, thanks! I didn’t know they had sandals now. I’ll have to take a look. My mom turns 73 tomorrow and I swear her knees are probably in better shape than mine and I’m 43!
I considered buying a pair of Doc Martens boots, but changed my mind after finding out that they were popular with skinheads. 😨
@@luisreyes1963, I'm sure that there are a lot of things you buy that are associated with the unfavorable and you are unaware of it.
If for example you buy Green Cross products like rubbing alcohol here's what you don't know. The person who started that company after WW2 was a doctor with Unit 731 in China.
Buy a clown toy for your child. Well John Wayne Gacy gave clowns a bad name.
I remember the Crystal Clear Pepsi and the McLean Delux! I miss the 90s and early 2000s. Best times of my life!
You was born 97?
Would love to see the Gatorade gum again and bonkers candy
We still have the breakfast burrito in Canada. Love them. The salsa with it is so dang good haha
I found one of those rejuvinate masks in the basement when I was a kid and was TERRIFIED lmao
That was very sc@ry looking.
Thanks Rhett for sharing, the only one I remembered was Mac Donald's MacLean.
Thank you for watching Monika! Do you remember the Zima? It was probably one of the biggest things in the video.
@@RhettyforHistory no I don't remember Zima. It's because I don't drink sodas at all.
Goosebumps, Beanie Babies, yes! Loved them growing up!
Rhett, I enjoyed this video about "Forgotten Things in the 90's." I must admit I hadn't heard of a lot of these items or either forgotten about them. Great presentation and photos, too. Have a fantastic week. Take care 🐎
Hello Brenda! These items definitely had a short life. Some of them anyway. Thank you for watching and I hope you have a great week too!
Anybody remember “In Shops”. So cool. How about Record Bar, or DJ’s Sound City? Karmelcorn? Orange Julius? Spencer’s Gifts?
♥️ 0range Julius! And Spencer's!
Many of them had super short shelf lives. I would say most people wouldn't know or remember most of these. Thank you for watching my friend!
I remember that Bic also came out with a fragrance back in the early 90s.
I loved Zima! There are many of these that I don't remember though. You always find the neatest things. Rhetty have you stopped doing your cemetery videos?
There's 1 product that was all the rage during the 90's & 1 that I'm GLAD to see has gone..."Baby on board" signs!! They were everywhere
That rejuvenate face mask is something straight out of a nightmare.
Wonderful, wonderful list. The only things I don’t remember are the Cosmopolitan yogurts and the Lifesavers drink😂
The thing I miss the most is when everyone didn’t have a cell phone in their hand and actually interacted with each other positively
Does anyone remember Mistic fruit drinks like in the mid 1990s..they tasted so delicious ..I still remember
Yes. They were good.
I love mystics. They still sell them at the bodegas n korean stores where i live!!
Its funny how much stuff we forget after 23 to 32 years go by. The 90s was a mixed bag for me, it was a pretty bad time for me but there were some great times too, like when i got married to my wonderful wife in 1999. Also when I graduated high school in 1994 thanks for the memories. Love the videos thank you. P.S. The McLean was nasty 🤮
Thank you for watching and sharing some of your memories!
I remembered a few of these things but not many. Then again I was 10-19 during those years and like a lot of teens, I was absorbed in my own stuff/life. It is fun to look back. ❤
It’s actually a good thing that Thirsty Cat and Thirsty Dog aren’t still around, I can imagine several other channels I watch devoting videos to taste-test them! (Honestly, there are people on RUclips who would happily try them!)
You're right about that. I have seen some channels like you are describing. Thank you for watching!
I think the product has potential with pet parents who have pets with kidney issues who need to encourage drinking
Great video. I do remember some of these. I would also add Devil Sticks to the list. Seemed like every kid in school had a set of them. We used to take them outside, do all kinds of tricks, and see who could keep their set going the longest without dropping it. Lots of fun. The 90s were definitely cool ✌️
Hi Rhett 🤗 bic pens and lighters are big here as well but we never got the disposable undies, must have pulled them from the shelves before they even made it down under 🇦🇺
I was blown away by the lifesavers drink we never got that one either. ❤️Jodie 🇦🇺
I'm not sure how widespread these things were. Some of these had super short shelf lives. I would bet they weren't everywhere in the U.S. either. Thank you for watching Jodie!
I do remember.
I loved orbitz they were my favorite treat when we would go to Walmart when I was a kid.
The Thighmaster, lololol. The girl from threes company!
Bring that flavored pet water put right now, & watch that person become a millionare $$$. 2022 is CRAZY!!!
Love these videos! They are so true and very well narrated (also love the pictures!)
hi Rhett im one of your subscriber from the Philippines and i dont remember any of these being sold here in our country during the 90s but its cool to know that they were once sold there in the states
Thank you for watching! I wasn't sure how widespread these were. I figured the Zima might have went worldwide. But I guess not.
Oh the Wow chips. Yes, I remember our old friend Olestra all too well.
The orange Orbitz drink was so good though!
Thank you for watching and sharing your memory of Orbitz.
You brought up the fruit drinks of the 90s but your examples were obscure. Examples not included yet wildly popular were Sobe, juicy juice and Mystic. Mystic had a wild promotion “get naked with mystic”
More 90s videos about random stuff please!!!!
The 1990's may be gone but will never be forgotten about
The Sega CD Game Console. I bought my Son one to play some Sega Games Sonic, Knights, not too many games for that console. I Dont remember what yr. Thanks For Sharing.
You're welcome and thank you for watching Tammera!
Wonder balls. Giant chocolate ball with small pieces of plastic toys inside for children, super well thought out
6:04 when this car came out I did a research paper on it for my science class in high school.
I am biased because I was a teenager in the 90s. But the 90s was peak civilization. It was peak everything. It was just peak
I only remember Snapple and Zima. During 90’s I was working a lot. Moving a lot. And dating a lot. And, I don’t remember lot of things either.
I drank a lot of Zima during the 90s at the clubs. It was great with a shot of grenadine in it. It had a short-lived comeback back in 2020. I bought several cases of it, and still have some. (Jan Griffiths).
Clearly Canadian clear sparkling flavoured water was huge when I was in high school in the 90's. Discontinued, but Canadians brought it back in the last 5 years or so and 7-11 here sells it. Mountain blackberry for my husband and peach for me. Now if only Keebler cookies would be sold again in Canada.
Omg I loooooved Clearly Canadian
We had that in Michigan.
For a short period in the 90's there were salad dressings for kids. They were actually pretty good.
Thank you for watching and helping us to remember more!
I remember those, I could of sworn one was nacho cheese.
WAT?! 🤣🤣🤣
I didn't care for Zima, but a girlfriend of mine liked them, but only if she would always drop a Jolly Rancher in them. Remember the craze with wine coolers about that time?
Also, I never had the McLean, but I sure did like the Mc DLT.
Thanks for the memories.
You're right about the wine coolers being huge. So was Mad Dog. Thank you for watching and helping us to remember more!
I remember that! I loved the McDLT too- washed down with a screamin hot fried cherry pie. Man I miss those cherry pies!
Omg I remember the jolly rancher thing 🤣🤣🤣
The first one I recognized is the Newton and I still have mine! It got me through grad school!
Thank you for watching and sharing your memories of the Newton. That's awesome you still have it!
DUDE! The Coors water. I was a freshman in high school when that came out. I remember taking that to school just to see if I could get in trouble.
I love the 90’s they were trying so many new things .
Thank you for watching Aaron!
FRUITOPIA!!!!!!! Loved those drinks.
Cosmopolitan yogurt?Yum😛wonder what kind of flavors they had and if they had interesting names lol would loved to have tried them while flipping thru their mag😅haha what a interesting time indeed
I'm not sure what flavors they had but they weren't out long so there might not have been many. Thank you for watching Liz!
@@RhettyforHistory thank you for replying💕enjoying your videos so much love all things retro and of course the 90’s🥰
I love these kinds of videos. Great job on all the products u mentioned.
The only one I remember is Zima. I have never really paid attention to new fads etc. Maybe I live in a bubble 😺
Thank you for watching and sharing what you remember!
Who remembers when soft drinks came in glass bottles with Styrofoam labels.. I certainly do. Haha
I worked at McDonald's during the beenie baby craze. We had armed guards and saw one lady get her arm broken. It was a mad house.
Wow! That is intense! I've always wondered how bad that was. Thank you for watching and sharing your memories!
@@RhettyforHistory It was like a bar room braw. People throwing chairs. The story we got was 2 ladies hijacked a McDonald's semi truck on the freeway looking for beenie babies after that we had to step up our security
I’m glad I worked after that in the Big N Tasty era. 😂
Hi Rhett 🙋🏽. I got a lot of these, and some I never heard of.😊😆😂😅🤣 LOL. Enjoy your day ‼️
I actually liked orbitz, didn't taste anything like cough syrup to me but i admit i was a young kid at the time and i did initially try it because of the fun lava lamp look.
I remember the Palm Pilot and the Newton. I thought they were so cutting edge.
Zima is still around in Japan. I always see it in convinate stores
I feel like some of this could come back pretty strong today.
I used to drink Zima in the 90's. It was an adult 7up. I am a man and can say if you wanted a mix drink but in a bottle it did the trick.
It was really popular and it really was like a 7up. Thank you for watching Dennis!
@@RhettyforHistory Yes I think you downplayed how popular it was with guys too in the beginning. I tried ONE, in a bar one night. I was not impressed. Personally I hate all the flavored malt liquor crap (not talking about like St. Ides malt liquor, that is a different class).
It was definitely a big time for flavored things like bartles and james, mad dog and jolly ranchers in Zima.
@@RhettyforHistory Up to 1989 when the fed made a national wine tax, wine coolers were actually made with wine and juice. I preferred real wine coolers for day drinking.
i remember the 1 meter long (40 inches) rolls of chewing gums but i didn't see one of these rolls since nearly 20 years (kids always tried to fit the entire roll in their mouth which was a problem)
Oh yeah, us baseball players loved those.
Pogs and Slammers are a forgotten fad of the 90's.
A fun look back. Thank you.
1996 that was a good year that was the year that the Attitude Era kicked off in WWE and the Nintendo 64 which is what I had for Christmas and the first game I got was GoldenEye 007 oh the memories I had playing that game
