- Cinematic lighting. Sometimes simple, sometimes complex. One key to creating cinematic lighting is to look at what the room is already doing, and motivate your light from there. Sometimes natural light looks good, and you can enhance it a little bit. The aputure 300d is a great, versatile, and affordable light. The aputure spotlight mount is also a must have!
don't know what happened @ 10:23 🤷♂
I love returning to old videos with new knowledge to rediscover them for myself. I remember watching them half a year ago and thinking that I understood something, but in fact it turned out that I didn’t understand anything then lol. I feel like sometimes without tons of podcast from Wandering DP this type of info is simply inaccessible to the brain. Or i am just slow.
Sometimes getting hands on with it helps a lot. That is how you can really remember what works and doesn’t work. And testing.
As someone working both in G&E on commercial sets, and as a DP in my own smaller passion projects / spec ads / short films - I cannot tell you how much I value this content. Not only is it the educational aspect of it (which is tremendous, both for newbies and pros alike) but also the fact that you leave in your thought process. The "why" is often forgotten with lighting and it's especially cool seeing you think through what the light is doing and why it's doing that, and if we like that or not, pros and cons, etc. Big fan, long time sub, very rarely comment but this stuff is so top notch I had to shown some appreciation.
Thanks so much Mike. That really means a lot and makes me want to make more!
Dude. Thank you for your generosity, and straight forward approach. Your quality speaks for itself. No bullshit no sales pitch. Just work.
Thank you thank you :)
Honestly, as someone who's trying everyday to become a filmmaker myself on a low budget, its channels like yours, where I always get the feeling of finding a hidden treasure. Especially nowadays on RUclips it's really hard to find someone like you. I can't understand why your not more recognized but at the same time I'm glad that this still is somewhat of a hidden treasure for me and other people who dive into this topic.
thank you so much, this means a lot, I have a lot more on the way, stay tuned!
As a member of the Grip department, the "laziness" graphic is my favorite part of this video.
For real though, these walk-thru's are very helpful for people who walk on set and have no idea where to start. Good stuff man.
Hey thanks so much. Love the graphic 😂😂. More to come.
This is literally the best channel on lighting breakdowns. I feel smarter after watching your videos. Thanks so much.
thank you so much, more on the way!
Wow wow wow, that studio mode tip is the real deal and I thank you deeply for that.
Haha changed my life when I learned that!
Your videos truly deserve greater recognition and attention.
Thank you so much 😊 a lot more to come!
Best $80 backing ever. Help fund an indy production and get a knowledge bomb drop!
Hah! Thank you Marc, means a lot.
Glad to have found your channel. More useful than a large portion of big channels.
Thank you very much ☺️
Biggest no brainer $80 purchase of my life. Good Luck!
Thank you Joel 😁
Dude! This is an awesome video! Subscribed!🤟
Thank you so much!
Love the honesty. Really informative man! So many thinking points
thank you :) more to come!
Thank you for these videos 🙏🏽
thank you, more to come!
#backedit easy decision can’t wait
Thanks Brandon, I appreciate it very much!
Yo just found your channel, great content! Love it
Btw, i noticed some distortion, what lenses did you use? or was it a wide angle lens filter? Awesome look
thanks so much. this was the GJ 50mm 1.8x anamorphic lens!
I did change the distortion of the lens though
Literally uploading a video now testing some shots lighting through windows with the Forza 500. Traded in my tungsten lamps for it, now all I have is that and a few 30w Quasar tubes. Adding ambient fill is a pain at the moment. Just dropped a $20 ball! Goodluck on the film man, I'm looking forward to see it come together.
Hey thanks for the investment! Really appreciate it. I like the forza 500s, I use them a lot with no reflector. Sometimes the reflector has a doubled shadow. What kind of modifier are you using with them? Would love to see the results!
@@BlaineWestropp1 I’ve been using it with a big 38in parabolic Softbox. Sometimes I shoot it through an extra frame of diffusion for a booklight quality of light. Still waiting for my fresnel to come in.
i admire you so much, thanks for this beautiful job
wich lenses were you using?
hey thank you so much! this was a great joy 50mm 1.8x T2.9 anamorphic, with adjusted distortion.
Bro, where can I find the link to the course?I'm dying for this.
Stay tuned! May be a while but until then I’ll keep crankin on RUclips!
I wish that I needed haircuts 😂
I wish you uploaded more to RUclips!
@@BlaineWestropp1
I just posted two new videos!
Did you post a link to the indiegogo anywhere?
Sounds like an amazing course to take part in!
hey! we did not receive the amount of funding we were looking for so we are currently looking to other avenues to get it done. if I course is made I will make an update here!
@@BlaineWestropp1 oh ok. Sorry about that.A course would be interesting for a lot of people i guess, probably more than are interested in supporting the movie.
Depending on the contents of the course 400 isn’t that much if you get the value back. Although you might cast a wider net with a discount for a few days and still make your money back.
I am definitely interested👍🏻
Thanks for the Info
wish i saw this when it was $80 😭
When what was $80?!
Oh never mind! We did not receive the funding we needed through indiegogo and are seeking alternate options. Message me on ig and I’ll keep you posted.
also i could pay for a color grading tutorial to get this look!
Yes :)
how much is for that sony monitor?! whaaat i just checked online wow
yes that monitor is up there lol
I just found your cannel and checked the indiegogo but all options for support are greyed out?
The campaign has ended. We did not reach the goal and are working on other avenues for funding.
@@BlaineWestropp1 ok thanks for the heads up. I'm subbed now so I'll keep updated. Love your content. Feels a lot more real than regular RUclips content. I'm currently binging the back log.
I love that. thank you! I hope you find some gems. more to come!
what camera and lens did you shoot this with?
This was on a mini LF and I am pretty sure the lens was a great joy 50mm 1.8x anamorphic.
@@BlaineWestropp1 image is sick!
@@bmefilms6879 thank you !
what camera is this?! and what glass are you using?
camera is Alexa mini LF. lens.. I can tell you that soon!
Shot on iPhone 😂
😂😇
hey , what is the name of that tv?
The tv on the wall behind me? It’s a Sony XBR something. I think it’s 46.5 inch. I can tell you when I go back there!
@@BlaineWestropp1 nooo that small monitor I meant
