Jeff, Thanks for the video on the compost tea. I'll be using this as part of my watering regimen this coming season.
Your information is right on the money. I watch all your videos and follow your advice to the "T". Good stuff based on results I have enjoyed. Keep it up!
Thanks Mike, appreciate the support!
I'm going back and watching some of your older stuff because I just moved and now have a huge amount of gardening space (yippee!) and I needed some "Jeff guidance" and inspiration. I gotta say, I never noticed this before but, you have amazing skin! Look at that smooth, glowing, flawless complexion! Is this all the organic veg at work I wonder? Another way to inspire eh? 😁😁😁.
As usual you make me want to go out there and NOT dig but certainly plant stuff, nurture it and, let's not forget, play in the dirt. Thanks again my friend, you're the best.
Thank you so much for sharing 👩🌾it’s so helpful 🙏🐝
Really motivating for me try the same because instructions were clear but it would have been capped off better if we had seen you apply it your plants. All in ALL 5 stars!
Cheers! Thanks for watching!
Great video! Love the Expos cap!!!
This is so cool. I learned a lot!
I'm glad you explained that because I was one of the people that thought it was pointless. Love your videos great job 💖
Cheers Kerri..compost tea and worm castings and teas can really take your crops to the next level!
great video. I am glad that I watched this one this morning. I am trying to finish up a video today that outlines multiple ways to fertilize and how i do it. I am going to make some worm tea, harvest some of my compost, and also going to start the process of fermenting some weeds. that was a great video on fermenting weeds last week by the way!
With the help of your video today I am going to include compost tea!!!
I will certainly link your videos in my video too.
kevin.
Can't wait to watch it, as always!
Just found your channel and really enjoy the simplicity of what you teach.
Awesome, thanks for watching, glad to have you aboard!
Awesome!
Hi Jeff do you think by tying the compost I to a piece of tulle and then into the water would work ?
Never heard of this...thanks!
There's other ways of making it too. The most common way is to put a fish bubbler or airstone in the bucket and suspend the compost in a nylon sack. Bubble the water for 2 days, voila. But, as always, I like to just simplify things and do it without having to buy even more stuff. The key is not to let the mixture go totally anaerobic. Its a great compliment to the weed fertilizer man. Just one more tool to keeping your farm not only organic, but also keeping the INPUTS totally under your control.
my tea recipe is, 1 liter by volume compost, to 15 liters of water, plus 3 tablespoons of sugar ( bog standard sugar ) I make it on a day I'm in the garden for 2 to 3 hours so I can stir it every 15 minutes for these 2-3 hours and then I leave it 24 hours before use and make sure its used within 3 days.
I use it at a 10 parts water to 1 part tea, then I use a watering can to apply it to the plants leaves and on the soil too
Do you find the stirring to be enough agitation? I get so many people telling me "you gotta get an air stone going in there"... I'd love to do a proper experiment to measure actual microbes...
Thank you for the great tip about using pond water..thankfully I have a pond
Ha ha, no problem! Pond or rain water works best!
Thanks 😊
Great info. We just started to make and use compost tea! We like it simple as well. Do you use your tea full strength? We've read you should dilute it but we are not sure if it is really necessary.
I normally leave my tap water out for 24-48hrs to help the chlorine evaporate!! I've had to do this for my Spider plant and houseplants that don't like chlorine and they've been doing well!!😊
I am going to try it!! I live in the Deep South! I cook! People love chicken livers and gizzards! I have bucket system that has a bottom bucket and a top bucket to drain off the liquid! They pop everywhere and it's annoying! You can use that to just lift the material out without having to strain it!
Right on Debra, happy growing!
what a great video. just subbed. i'm happy to forego the bubbler, hoses, and other accessories. foliar feeding has long interested me, but i live in a very humid place, so i'm just a little concerned. maybe that's unwarranted, especially considering that these types of tea are said to make plants more resistant to fungal problems. any thoughts? thank you so much.
Do you use it as it is or dilute it down somewhat? Great, understandabke vid 👏🌱
Just bought some seeds, and I am going to try you ways! Thanks for sharing Sub’d
Awesome KC, thanks so much for the support!
Do you also use bagged fertilizers for all the nutrients plants need or ONLY compost tea?? Newbie!!??
Could you spray the lawn with it?
❤️
Why the lid on bucket is important ?
👍👍👍👍
How abouts do you shred up pulled weeds and excess plant matter into mulch?
Easiest way is a shredder...they aren't very expensive. Next easiest way is to run them over with a lawnmower!
@@TheRipeTomatoFarms thank you so much. Recently found your channel, decided to try an herb garden and veggies for the home. Now I'm here binge watching your videos, wish you had the how to build the hanging planter video up.
@@PureHardStylePHS Thanks for the support! Awesome! I have the DIY herb planter video..I think a couple different ones. I made one last summer, here's the link! Super easy...takes like 15 minutes!: ruclips.net/video/DwwJYJqbJ-Q/видео.html
How often do you feed the plants with this tea? Once a week? Once a month? Thank you..
The great thing is, you can't over do it. So once a week, once a month.....whenever you water, will work just fine.
@@TheRipeTomatoFarms Thank you! I’m filling my bucket now
I don't understand the benefit of the extra steps of straining!
I separate the liquid compost tea without use of strainer so small pieces of the compost in the compost tea goes back in the soil by plant side.
What harm is in this easy process ? I will appreciate comments.
I was just thinking that Apple cider vinegar has lots of beneficial bacteria. Can you think where it would be helpful in the garden?
Apple cider vinegar can be used as a weak fertilizer.. But only for acid loving plants like blueberries and azaleas. I wouldn't go around spraying it in your garden.
@@TheRipeTomatoFarms thanks!
I use comfrey tea in my compost tea
Comfrey and Dandelions are the best at it...no question!
Could have done this video in 5 minutes instead of 13. Too much BS.
