When you mentioned the L.A. playset they actually did do one for the Independence day movie during that films run. Only difference was the big mothership over city in the backdrop, jets alien ships and everything else that came with the NY set. would make a great display with kaiju figures. (edit: comment got deleted when I tried linking to an ebay listing, didn't know youtube did that)
@@stevele4877 yeah but that's the risk you take when you like media that was made before 2001 it is always awkward to watch shows like the animated Carman San Diego or Godzilla because the twin towers are always on screen
It’s a pretty innovative set that i probably woulda played the heck outta as a kid, thx for sharing MIB ☺️ And yo, that soldier at 7:01 has some mad skills to not only survive his base getting destroyed, but also stick the landing 😆
I had this growing up and absolutely LOVED it. The odd size difference between Godzilla and Mecha-Ghidora always bothered me, but I just ended up using all my other Monsters with. Sometimes used the T-Rex from Jurassic Park. Always love your videos. Keep up the great work.
Hey MIB, me again, just wanted to follow up about me getting this playset. I FINALLY got a hold of this playset (the giant one), 3 weeks ago, and holy crap! It’s soooooo much fun! I play with it A LOT. I had to buy the set, the Godzilla breath launcher, and Mecha-Ghidorah all separate. The set came with all its parts + the breath missiles (and the shipping was free, so yay). The Godzilla breath launcher and Mecha-Ghidorah were bought separate because the set didn’t come with them. There were shipping costs for Godzilla and Mecha-Ghidorah. In total (plus the tax & shipping), it came out to be $110.19! Best money I’ve ever spent, and to this day, I still play with it. Never get tired of it! Love your toy reviews and keep on going. Thanks again for this great amazing video!!!
I had this as a kid and loved it! Despite some of it's issues like the size scaling and fragile springs it was a very generous and neat set. I think It cost about 30 bucks back in the day which was a pretty good deal
I’d never even heard of this set. Trendmasters really outdid themselves, with their Godzilla line. It’s a shame we didn’t get more. I would’ve loved to have seen everything they had planned, for the Doom Island line.
Awesome to see you cover this. I actually managed to get my hands on this set a few years ago, and I've been using the set and props in my Instagram Photography quite often! I love the aesthetic of it. Something about the color palette of it gives me a nostalgic Destroy All Monsters Melee feeling, which, for those familiar with the game, gives me that "go go go!" feeling to motivate playing with my atomic dinosaurs!
Talk about harsher in hindsight, I hate when something works out like that. I once rewatched an old TMNT cartoon where Shredder and Krang put a force field around the towers and I fell out of my chair with a giant "WHAT!?!"
This is a cool set that trendmasters created for their Godzilla toy line and it kinda reminds me of the Godzilla San Francisco (2014) play set minus the shooting part.
I actually had this set! I adored it and that Launcher Godzilla was a toy I kept with me from when I was practically still a Toddler until I was 18 when it accidentally got thrown out. I honestly still miss it
never seen this before. i friggin love it. i would have gone crazy for something like this as a kid. I had a couple small trendmasters toys and some similarly scales 4" bootleg figures. never anything this cool. seeing all this stuff for the first time as you present/review and experience with us is one of the many reasons I love your content.
As a kid I loved toys that where made to break like the building in this set the only downside is if one piece goes missing it can easily effect the whole set.
Never had the playset, but thanks to my family looking around Goodwill they got my brother the Godzilla from the set. A shame that none of the projectiles came with it let alone the whole city, but at least I don't have to scratch my head over where in the trendmasters toyline it came from.
I have quite a few holy grails to put in my collection, and this one definitely ranks among the top 5. Am I crazy for thinking the set has one of the coolest Godzilla figures ever made? Not only does he look bad@$$ and is relatively big for a Trendmasters figure, but the fact that he can fire his atomic breath in the form of projectiles?! WHY DON'T WE SEE THIS MORE OFTEN?! I've said this before and I'll say it again, wether it be Bandai or Playmates, it'd be so flippin' cool to see the Trendmasters line revived in some form.
I hd a real blast with this back in the day. As you dramatically demonstrate, the buildings go up just as easily with any impact, so I mixed it up with stuff like tail strikes and monsters throwing each other into them. And so what if it doesn't last long? Just stick 'em back on and do it again! I was one happy kid.
so here me out, what if there was a play set like this but of Tokyo, had around 10 buildings like in this set, was bigger, and more stable, and came with tanks, planes, and a godzilla, mechagodzilla, and some other kaiju (mogera and gigan would be cool) and have a little city destruction scene with the kaiju. maybe mechagodzilla can shoot little missles out of his hands like the godzilla in this set.
This is definitely really cool and it would probably be a great diorama for Trendmasters figures in a collection. Like I see your examples and I just hear the "Extreme Monster Island Buddies" from Destroy All Godzillas.
You know MIB, you and I actually have a lot in common. I do see it more and more. You like Trendmasters, so do I. You like almost all old goji toys/movies, so do I. I even liked the video of the lost Godzilla media. REALLY GREAT STUFF! If I didn’t tell you already, I’ll tell you now. I just absolutely LOVE the Monster Island Buddies series. It’s like my version of Family Guy, only with Godzillas. It just gets better with each episode! Keep the content going. Oh, one more thing: this last video actually got me wanting this “Godzilla attacks NY giant playset” all the more.
I’ve been waiting on this review for a long time! I remember getting this in a yard sale, but it was missing the Godzilla and Mecha King Ghidorah, so I only ever had the six inch figures, but it was glorious! I’m not sure what happened to it, but I’ve got a couple of the exploding building pieces in my parts bin.
Oh man I remember this set as a kid... I think I was 9 when I got it for Christmas. My parents announced during Christmas dinner they were getting divourced.
I'm amazed that Trendmasters didn't make a set of this for the 1998 movie line, since the film takes place in New York, and having one of the 6-inch Godzilla with a missile atomic breath would have been fun to have.
I had this set, still do. Have not pulled it out in a while but I know I should have all the pieces still. Only problem I had is I tried to put a missal from something else in Godzilla's mouth and it broke the launch mechanism. I really should pull it out sometime and give it a once over, maybe soon but until then I can enjoy the sweet nostalgia watching this awesome video. Thanks for posting and I hope you have an awesome day MIB.
Man, this looks like an awesome set! It's way cooler than I expected! I wish they would make something like this now. The closest thing would probably be Godzilla Jenga lol
I would buy several sets including both small and large and then get a bunch of Godzilla kaiju action figures and just go nuts, even make custom backdrops and custom buildings
Damn I use to have this set as a kid, I wish I had the whole set still. I still have the Godzilla and missiles. I remember me and my brother would use flour to make it smokey 💟
They NEED to bring this back for the MonsterVerse. Base it off of 2014 or KOTM, I guarantee kids today would still go NUTS over this. Source: am child.
Loved this playset. My Chrysler building always fell though without touching it. I never understood the small Ghidorah. I used other figures and took pictures.
I never had this set as a kid, but got mine as a gift a few years back from a friend who was cleaning out his attic and found one up there. Interestingly, mine doesn't have the logo printed on it; exactly the same art everywhere else, but missing the logo and lava art on the front side. I wonder if maybe mine's a misprint?
Remember those Godzilla vs kong toys from 2020? Turns out they also made a few other figures like a final wars Godzilla and final wars gigan. I picked up the final wars Godzilla figure. I don’t know if there still selling them but i saw them at Walmart when I bought that Godzilla toy.
I had it has a kid when I was 8 for Christmas but it got stolen a few months later luckily I just got this set off eBay some time ago brand new or rather never been opened I recently opened it and everything was sealed but a manufacturer flaw it's missing 2 soldiers but I'm not complaining. I get to relive my childhood. And it's nice to set up a just stare at

I had that playset when i was a kid and my thought went to that the minute I saw this Godzilla one. I agree it would fit right in as a kaiju diorama
"Is that the Twin-Ooooh"....Yeah that is really awkward.
The “Godzilla did 9/11” conspiracy theory gets yet another chapter.
Would not be a Play Time without it!

Atomic breath does tho...

I wish anyone was making Godzilla toys for kids.
