  • At the 2024 NAMM Show Furch Guitars unveiled a curious series of guitars with East Indian Rosewood tops. The Yellow Dark series take the popular Yellow Series and adds the curious feature of a rosewood top. Now, we have often wondered about this approach and have heard form some builders that it isn't possible to do because of the density of rosewood. Can Furch pull it off? Cooper and Chris find out.

5:05 I'm the owner of the rosewood OM from Alamo. It was such a standout that we took it home. The dreadnought is spectacular in person! When Cooper said everyone liked it, it's true. The low end is rich and dark in the best way. I play fingerstyle and some strumming and the OM had crisp note definition in the treble with that beautiful low end darkness. We have spruce mahogany and spruce rosewood guitars so this is something sonically different. The neck finish is perfect. No drag when playing. Overall construction is excellent. I'd argue better than a standard series Martin which is a similar price. Love it. It found the right home. ❤ Thanks David for showing it to us. Sorry, not sorry, we got it before Chris and Cooper could record the video.

At the beginning, I thought the notes were compressed even more than with mahogany. But the strumming really brought the overtones and harmonics together. Great sustain and balance. Beautiful guitar, both aesthetically and sonically. Another perfect showcase, Cooper. How well you two pick these out at NAMM amazes me in all the “sax and drums.”

Beautiful. I am a fingerstylist who plays simple and single notes.. and wow, I loved how the GC sounded. I also love how they are NOT BLINGY. So many high end guitars just put too much "stuff' and bling on them for my taste. The dark is awesome.

We were in the San Antonio area due to the eclipse and made a 'pilgrimage' to one of your stores. I played one of the rosewood tops that were pointed out to me and it was interesting. I only used my fingers, no pick, but the sound was really interesting. There were plenty of overtones which didn't surprise me. I think I like it more with a pick now that I heard the demo.

    Good afternoon Chris and Cooper-
I'm glad I watched this video. Furch definitely made a bold move and it appears to have come to fruition nicely.
I'm coming into my 27th year as a player and I often use DADGAD as one of my go-to tunings.
I think these guitars would shine in such a tuning, or in DGDGBbD.

I’m a Furch Yellow Master’s Choice Gc-CR owner and as big a Furch fan as possible!
I really was skeptical with an all Rosewood guitar even from Furch!
Wow, they knocked it out of the park!! I think they’ve got some serious Hogwarts magic going on there!!
Great presentation as well from you guys!!

Before watching this video, I'm gonna go ahead and predict that this'll sound like a mahogany guitar but warmer and more woodsy sounding
Edit: I imagine a denser top would allow for a lighter and more scalloped bracing
Edit edit: i didn't expect it to be so chimey 👀

Let's hear them against their more traditional siblings please. I thought they sounded "mellow". I'm not a fan of one-wood guitars, because I think it's better to pair a softwood top with hardwood back & sides, to cover more tonal palette, but these rosewood guitars not only sound good, they also look superb.

Thick and compressed is about right. I had a chance to play most of their guitars a Huml music in the Czech Republic when it was their classic and modern lines, including an all rosewood model. Did not like it. Took home the equivalent of a 00 with cedar/rosewood which I love to this day.

Once the technical argument is won, price is secondary. These guitars will undoubtedly have their supporters, for whom the price is right.

A politician's answer. The question was are they cheap. The answer is no.

    • @1man1guitarletsgo
      @1man1guitarletsgo 2 месяца назад +2

@@pepmasters-999 Thank you. A _salesman's_ argument, actually. To some people these guitars will seem cheap, because they offer something that others don't. Now, if I spent a lot of money buying this guitar and was so satisfied that I never felt the need to buy another, I might end up spending less than someone who kept buying guitars in their search for the perfect instrument. So, while I agree, they're not cheap, purchase price isn't the whole story.
