Scurion are just an amazing product for caving but also for photography, I use mine all the time and they have helped me create award winning images many times.
Absolutely the best lamp ever. I work with Scurion since 2009, and many 100 hours of caving in mostly hard conditions: water, heavy digging, ice caves, salt water, scawling... And I have never a problem. Best greatings from Germany. - Your videos are great.
Nice work on he review Derek. Scurion lamps have proved to be super reliable by so many New Zealanders and Australians for many years. I cannot compliment Scurion enough for their amazing originality in design and features.
Great review!
Thanks for your review. Planning to upgrade from my Petzl Ultra Vario this spring, any chance you can review the El Speleo line in the near future? Thanks
Scurion is the best of all headlamps! I bought a brand new green Scurion 900! It’s brand new sitting in the box un used. If anybody is interested in buying it let me know please!
Do you still have it?
Great. I want a 1500.
What do you find is the best headlamp?
I bought a phaethon for diving but its shockingly bad, very unreliable, and always packing up (switches stick, won't switch off/on burning out, only drawing charge from 1 battery, just randomly switches off, loose connectors etc).
A lot of people rave about the dive scurion as being the best, but it's bloody expensive and quite heavy, especially compared to the standard scurions.
The Scurion is probably the best, though you’re right that it’s expensive and a bit heavy. Another excellent quality dive light that is both cheaper and lighter is the Rude Nora 3.
@@DerekBristol cheers Derek your input is appreciated. Like I say the phaethon has just been so unreliable. I will look at the Rude Nora I was thinking that or the el speleo which is now depth rated to 150m like the scurion. Another thing that put me off the scurion (other than price and weight) is the battery costs, I found the same with my Petzl, it was over $100 for a batter that lasts 300 charges before being defunct.
@@BobBob-ye2my I would not recommend the El Speleo. You are likely to experience the same reliability issues you've had with the Phaethon. I would expect the battery life of the Scurion to be comparable to those sold by other headlamp manufacturers. They all use similar and equally reliable 18650 cells from LG, Panasonic or Samsung. I've gotten 5+ years of use from my Scurion batteries with no noticeable reduction in run time.
Assininely overpriced!!!
I agree, but that's Swiss products for you, the very best there is and also by far the most expensive... And although I agree that compared to the actual cost of the components and the fairly limited amount of R&D needed to design and produce them, lot's of people clearly are willing to pay those insanely high prices so that also tells you something.
Lemmings! Monkey see, monkey do.
