After living in Utah the past 5 years and getting into downhill riding, Im moving back to Columbus for a new job. This makes me stoked to see there's still some good riding to be had!
Great video! My favorite trail in Ohio along with Great Seal in Chillicothe Ohio, I climb that road in 5 mins and I'm 43 years old 😁🤘! Come on, young lady, you got this 🤘🤘🤘
It's so well built that it's unlikely anyone might mess up and crash. Great confidence booster to lead into doing bigger drops. They did a great job building everything there.
On observation on the jumps... I'm 46 and didn't make any meaningful attempt to learn to jump until a few weeks ago when I went to Bentonville (been XC riding my entire life). Like you mention, you see teens who are sending it over those jumps like a boss and it's kind of intimidating/discouraging. I found what helped me was (to finally) not be afraid to make a mistake (even in front of kids), ask for help if you need it e.g. ask for someone to tow you in, and finally -- most importantly, repetition. One kid, who was an insanely good rider, told me he and his friends rode that jump line for 4 hours a day for weeks after it was built. I think as adults we feel if we don't get it right by the 3rd or 4th try we just kinda give up and move onto something else. It took about 10 passes through, but I did eventually clear all the jumps in that line and it was biggest rush I have had on a bike in a long time! :-) So keep at it! I also think showing your mistakes and progression makes for really good RUclips. It's honest and shows the experience most riders will face in trying new features. Sweet sends over those big drops. Good vid as always!
Practice makes perfect. Unfortunately, we don't have much time to spare to just practice. In the event that we do have time, then it's a rare opportunity to just enjoy riding in the moment. Maybe one day when the channel grows and I don't have to spend so much time at my 'day job', then I can practice whenever I'm not working on videos or dealing with daily responsibilities. Glad you enjoy our vids. 😁
that's hilarious.....that huck to flat is where I cracked the frame of my bike? I couldn't tell what was said as far as how to get through that huck to flat.....in case I ever try it again.
It is really fun watching how much your skills have progressed. Do you ever ride with subscribers? I have been itching to ride my old stomping grounds of Bloomer and Stoney Creek Parks when I come back home.
Another great video.! I really appreciate that you are honest about being scared. It’s pretty amazing that you both really make good choices when you ride. Speaking of, can you provide a link to your protection gear? Thanks in advance! 🤘🏼💪🏼
Thanks! Just trying to set realistic expectations. 😊 Anyway, here's an affiliate link for you: amzn.to/36Mz4Ne The shoulder armor is removable, so you can save 'em for the scariest of trails. You can see the rest of our gear here: www.amazon.com/shop/thedukeofmtb
Yoo! I broke my clavicle where you said Cory wiped out on slim Shady. My first time on that line. Waaaaayyyy too much speed. Just for cleared a few weeks back. Crazy
what kind of chest protector you guys wear? Do you like them and how they feel? Can you wear them under your shirts? I'm looking for one as well and yours look kinda cool
Here's a link to most of our gear: www.amazon.com/shop/thedukeofmtb The one with the shoulder protector is the same as the one without. They're removable. We reserve those for the scariest of trails. It's supposed to be worn on the inside, but we prefer it over our clothes. Easier to remove when chilling between runs.
@dukeofmtb I'd say it's worth it though! I have a Go Pro 10 and the raw videos look great, but after a 32gb file turns into a 5gb through capcut, it just doesn't look as great. It sounds like I need to try a paid program.
😂 I did meet a dude that started in his 40s and ended up being a total badass on a bike. Jibs, jumps, whips, endos...he can do it all. There is hope for us yet. 😅
I just posted a short from our latest trip there. ruclips.net/user/shortspE5wspHuYoU Didn't record anything for a full video though. I've really slowed down in regard to posting full vids. Day to day life just gets in the way. Now that I think about it. I should probably record the next time we're out there. 😅
4'11 ‐ Cory's the most comfortable on bikes with a reach of 365mm to 390. That's the reach on her hardtail, and her Strega(Nomad V4 in XS). If it wasn't for the Juliana Strega, she'd be on a kids bike like the Clash Junior or something.
Your kids's so lucky to have a dad like you supporting her riding. She's going to be a much better rider than we'll ever be by the time she hits her early teen years. She'll be doing whips over jumps by then. Lol
@@dukeofmtb thanks a lot. I am touched. You guys are great! It will be a while before we dream of hitting jumps like that. Will I put her in bike camp for a week this summer, not sure if you have heard of horseshoe in Ontario. Now we are fairly close to the same speed. Soon, (July) i do not think I will be able to keep up to her!
Cool and nice job on that big jump, i sure wouldnt have attempted that, i needed to progress on lower ones. I think you're more than 'noobs' for sure. Should have given your shuttle a little Thank You film time. Funny comment about starting in your 30's, my 1st FS bike was my 2018 Spectral 6.0 at age 63
Thanks! I just kinda clicked record in the moment when we were in the back of their truck. It all happened so fast. Wow. That's awesome. Shredding at 63. 👍 I just get a little envious of the folks that started riding young and can do all sorts of cool things with their bikes. We constantly meet younger riders that our at about our level at first, but they can suddenly do whips and back flips only a few months later. 😅
@@dukeofmtb Actually i will be 66 in December, my 1st FS bike was the 2018 Spectral 6.0 AL, not sure if i will replace my 2019 Instinct BC or not yet? I really am a Blue trail rider so not 100% necessary that i have an Enduro bike, might be nice to have a shorter travel 24 pound bike. Once in a while i went to Asheville but still rode the Blue trails which can be difficult enough and climbing with those huge roots made for some walking over them, climbing is great to build endurance and bike control but NO fun while you're doing it, the gym is much cheaper and safer but still on the fence about getting another bike. You both get around to different States which can be fun. Some kids/riders have balance like a cat and become great riders quickly just like those in gym class that picked up a bat and glove then made the baseball team while others really have to work or dont have that athletic coordination. I watch BKXC and he has ridden with riders and guides better than him especially when trying to do jumps, etc. Check out Rich Drew, he is an AMAZING rider and about 50, also has a Brother thats an excellent rider, they both give riding 'clinics' from time to time for serious riders.
@@zxtenn I can relate with BKXC. He seems to struggle with exactly the same things I do. I'm definitely not in the naturally talented camp. lol.. I've watched a lot of Rich Drew's videos as well. He has some great vids.

You could also probably do day trips from there on the weekend to Windrock and Snowshoe.
Glad I could give you a lift to the top! Yea Boi!!
Thank you so much! 😊
Thank you! You're a life saver😁😊
Good to see you back in action! Horns Hills is just outside of Columbus Ohio for those wondering.
Thanks! Work's been busy. Hard to edit weekly vids. Got tons of footage though. You'll be watching our summer adventures until next spring. 😅
Met you guys last weekend. I let you ride my trek rail Ebike. Cool video!! Horns hill is wild!
It was nice meeting you. Thanks for letting us try the ebike. Makes me wanna get one. Hehe. Glad you enjoyed the vid. 😁

Haha. I'm sure she's capable. She just doesn't have the desire to do it. She's a downhiller at heart. 😊
You two are rockstars on those drops. They scare the crap out of me, and I like to skydive. ;-)
Lol. Thanks. 😅
10:20. That drop is awesome looking - certainly bigger than any drop I've ever done. Well ridden! 👍

You're gonna love it. 😁👍

My best guess would be to just not send it too far so you touch down to the ground faster. The further out you go, the more you're gonna feel it. 😅
You guys are bananas
B......A-N-A-N-A-S
Nice work!
😊 Thanks!
Great show peeps. Keep going and don't be "skeeered"!
lol. Thanks. We try. 😅
Hey guys, big fan of your videos here. I am kind of new in mountain biking and have a question for you, what is the meaning of “off camber”? 🤙
It's when the trail is slanted instead of flat. There's less traction in off camber sections, so it feels sketchy.
It's interesting to see how much progression you two have gone through since we chatted at Blue Mountain
Too bad Blue is closed now. We would love to ride there again. 😥
Love the stoke ! Can’t wait to catch up with you guys again
Thanks for the tow last time!🤙😊
Thanks! We'll definitely be back again soon. 😁👍
Wow that looks so fun I have to go do that soon
Yes! Worth the drive. 👍
Looks like lots of fun! If you can't keep the camera on, please keep the mic on!
Will do. 😁👍
It is really fun watching how much your skills have progressed. Do you ever ride with subscribers? I have been itching to ride my old stomping grounds of Bloomer and Stoney Creek Parks when I come back home.
Thanks! We do. It's just never planned. Always spur of the moment. 😅
Great video, about to go, seeing that I need more safety gear
Thanks! That's a good idea the first time going there. I like to always wear a chest and back protector if I'm riding anything other than XC.
Sweet vid. And you guys wound up getting a lift too 💯💰👌
Thanks! Lucky. 😁

I prefer the no 360 cam to be honest I think it detracted from the riding. I’ll subscribe to the new format.
Thanks for letting me know. Looks like folks are a little split on it. Some miss it, some don't mind it gone. 😁
Just my personal feel, this was one of my fav vids you guys have done.

Horn hills looks serious. It looks scarier than mountain creek.
Definitely scary in spots. 😬

I have a 6 bike "shuttle style" rack now. (Alta Rack)
Maybe we should meet up down there some day and take turns driving...?
