All that work and it still looks new. I grew up playing in the rail yard in Council Bluffs, Creston and Corning Iowa and most of the locamotives looked like grime pits! Climbing on them my cloths were covered in grime. Never ever seen any of them cleaned.
Spot on again Ron -looks perfect from any angle ! Could you do a video for an abandoned loco -one that's well past its sell by date ??? That would be of serious interest to me ! Regards
Ron, another fine and informative video. I do have a couple of suggestions that might not work as they might be production headaches. 1. I would be nice to see the effect of the fade coat in relation to the out of the box look. Painting the fade coat on one side, then flipping the model over to see what the original looks might help, but nothing is better than seeing both at the same time. 2. Really just an extension of #1, to see a side by side shot with before and after toasting. I suppose a large still shot would work, but again, production headache maybe. Or you could do a short term lease of a duplicate model from MidwestModler, but inventory issues for this older engine I am sure would be there. Of course, we do have the option of sliding our video bar back and forth to see that effect, or I could use my phone screen for one side and the pc screen for the other.....I may have answered my own question. Keep em coming, Ron, we learn a lot from them.
Hi ya Ron, well, that came out looking great. I wasn’t familiar with the terminology of “a toaster.” Very appropriate. I don’t know whether you have any steam in your roster of locos. But it would be great to see your methods used on a steam engine. Okay, see ya next time.
Nice job Ron, looks awesome. Thanks for taking the time to explain and show how you did that. I learned a lot about this. I asked a question on another video regarding glue, will “MEK substitute” work the same as MEK? I am having a hard time finding MEK. Thanks again fro sharing. Ken
Hi, Ken. I have just been learning how hard MEK is to get in many places. I have heard other say the substitute will work, but I have not tried it. I intend to get some and compare, but haven't gotten to it yet.
When I first started the channel I knew a lot of channels included a list of "gear" in the description. I made this list then, added the sun as I used a lot of natural light then and thought it was funny, and I've just never changed it.
@@RonsTrainsNThings hehe, it's an interesting addition to a US themed layout. Another thing: how do you guys do planning? I want to make an H0e layout (HO scale trains running on N scale track) loosely based on the Yugoslavian coast, but I don't know where to start.
Now see how I custom detailed and painted a locomotive for FWWR in this video: ruclips.net/video/B2gWS0c95wA/видео.html
Hey Ron? I'm an 11 yr old taking on a n scale layout. Do you have any advice on what senery brands I should use?
Great video!👌👍 Keep up the great work. 😃
Nicely done Ron! Looks nice and burnt, good to see this old veteran plying rails at North Yard :)
Very nice Weathering!!! Well done. I look forward the next locomotive you will weather...
That came out really nice. It's amazing this can be done so well on the minuscule N scale items.

Great job Ron...thanks for putting all the info and techniques together!

Hello Ron
I'm more interested in Gundam models but I appreciate your knowledge... 🔥

what are you using for the clear coat ?

Ron's Trains N Things thanks Ron, appreciate the reply back. I hope you would consider doing an update on that when you do compare them. Thanks.
Looks very good! Which locomotives would you never consider to weather? Just curious.
Why do you have a link to the "Sun" in your description?
Because it is a fantastic light source...and its funny...thanks for reading to the end of the description.
@@RonsTrainsNThings I was wondering if it was an easter egg of sorts.

Weathering track
Wait, your the guy from model railroad academy
Yes, yes I am. 👍🏼
you and NSmodler24, he beat you to that one and he models NS lol
So did Joey at Touch of the Brush...but both of them used different techniques and neither didn't in N scale, and that's a whole different animal.
Why is everyone making toasters?
Yeah, I've seen a couple other videos lately too,but mine was already in the works so I proceeded as planned.
