  • In this English language video, we look at how to make plural nouns in English. We look at:
Regular nouns adding -S to the end.
Nouns ending in S, CH, SH, X, and Z (adding -ES to the end)
Nouns ending in F or FE (the -VES rule)
Nouns ending in a VOWEL + Y (these are regular)
Nouns ending in a CONSONANT + Y (the -IES rule)
Nouns ending in a VOWEL + O (these are regular)
Nouns ending in a CONSONANT + O (the -ES rule)
Irregular nouns that do not end in S in their plural form (e.g. child)
Nouns that remain the same in singular and plural form (e.g. sheep)
For more details and examples, visit our grammar website:

Also, before someone asks... FISH or FISHES?
The plural of fish is almost always fish. A group of fish of the same species are called 'fish'.
However in biology, 'fishes' is used to refer to multiple species of fish... so two or more SPECIES of fish are called 'fishes'.
Unless you are a biologist, you will always use FISH as the plural of fish.

However, irregular plural nouns are nouns we could NOT count. This could also count as subject-verb agreement:
    For example: 1 man, 1 woman, 1 mouse, 1 child, 1 goose, 1 deer, 1 foot - Plural; 2 men, 2 women, 2 mice, 2 children, 2 geese, 2 deer, 2 feet, 2 fish
Two men are performing together on stage with a diva.
Seven geese went under the bridge.
    Four children enjoyed themselves today.
Two deer eat crops and grasses.
Six fish swim in the underwater ocean.
    A mouse found cheese.
Mark's feet got bitten by his friend's pet dog.
Two women took pictures of their kids' garden.

Well, those plural nouns remind me of simple subject and verb agreement:
For example, when to use the "be" verb 'is,' and when to use the "be" verb, 'are':
But I must say: The noun that I'll be using is a singular noun and/or, a plural noun: Singular means just one, single, and alone.
    For example: 1 tree, 1 car, 1 train, 1 ball, 1 cherry, 1 dog, 1 loaf, 1 flower, 1 apple, etc.
Then you need to add the 'be' verb, 'is' just to make the sentence singular:
Now, for me to make example sentences:
    The flower is blooming.
    We planted a tree.
    John drives a car.
I picked up an apple from the tree.
My dog runs when we play fetch.
I bought a loaf of bread.
A cherry grows from a tree.
The ball bounces off the ground.
    Earth is beautiful.
A locomotive train is hauling a heavy load.
    Tyler is reading one book.
Pluto is no longer considered a planet.
However, plural means more than one, not alone: 2, 3, 4, 5. or more.
    For example: 2 apples, 2 dogs, 2 flowers, 2 presents, 2 elves, 2 girls, 2 boys, 2 cherries, 2 cars, etc.
Also, you can add the be verb 'are' by making the whole sentence plural:
    Here are my Example Sentences:
e.g.: All of the freight is stored in the cars.
    Two flowers are blooming.
Danny and Madison are planting flower seeds.
    The elves wrap the presents.
    Two dogs are brown.
We picked up two apples from the tree.
He bought two loaves of bread.
Four cherries grow from a tree.
    Mars and Mercury are planets.
All of the passengers are in two coaches.
John and Emily are dying to plant two daisies for their garden.
    Charles' parents have two cars.
He reads two books about wolves.
    Butlers wear black gloves.
So, therefore, many of my sentences would both remain AND count as subject-verb agreement.

I got distinction twice in English but with time I have forgotten most of my English since I don't have an active English anymore. Astounding, isn't it.. Anyhow I'm hoping to get my top notch level English again by watching grammar videos on RUclips.

@@WoodwardEnglish I have forgotten where I need to put S in sentences. For Eg : in human(s), it causes infection(s) and accounts for upper respiratory track(s).
I hope you've understood my problem. Could you kindly do a video to explain where I need to put S in a sentence?
