In this lecture Professor Zach Murphy will be presenting on the anatomy of the human ear. We talk about all of the structures that make up the external, middle, and inner ear.
13:30 - Learn how sound waves travel through the many structures of the ear where they eventually become registered as action potentials to our brain so we can hear and keep our balance! We hope you enjoy this lecture and be sure to support us below!

You are a life saver!! Professors usually just toss these models at us and say "learn this" without explaining anything! But you take your time to go through the whole thing and give the function for the structures. Thank you so much!

I came here searching for those little bones in the middle ear after a hospital visit.
I lost my hearing partly after a stressful situation at work and it didn’t go back to normal until I went home and slept.
Without me saying a word, the doctor looked inside my ears and asked if I am a nervous person.
Then he explained to me that this is a way of protection, those little bones perform in case of a high voice wave.
They pressed against each other to minimise it.
Or in my case if in a nervous situation the nerve tightened the muscles which pressed the bones.
I am thankful for god. And grateful for the tiniest bones.

Zach, watching your Videos about the ear helps me understand more. When I was younger I had an infection on my inner ear and had a vertigo attack. Now I can understand why I still get loud ringing in my left inner ear. I really love watching your videos. It helps me out more than what they did when I was in school. I've always been in special education but they still should of thought me more just like you do. I love you. Stay safe due to the Covid-19.

12:15 Isn’t the uppermost nerve supposed to be Facial Nerve. Inside the middle ear it’s supposed to give rise to the Chorda Tympani branch. It’s not supposed to be a part of the Vestibulo-choclear nerve

I wonder if you can describe the function of the pinna of its correct function, rather than what most text books seem to state as a "sound collecting" organ?
I think this could be interesting for students to realise what the vital role of the auricle is, which is nearly always ignored in the majority of informational videos on RUclips, they seem to be as rare as hens teeth!

This is just ONE system of the body that has been brilliantly designed. We still have the heart, brain, lungs etc. to marvel at. What are the odds that all these systems came together in total perfection with just one chance, one shot to get it right at the point of origin when we came into existence. Can anyone recreate this on their own with just bones and flesh? If you do not believe in a living intelligent God and Creator then where is Nature getting all the ingenious instructions and blueprints for all of this? Seems that Nature is making conscious decision thinking, is that not what we usually associate to a mind? If it has a mind then who's mind is it? "He is not Man but Spirit. The Light of Eternal Mind.".
