I think perhaps most books or information that explains what the pinna does is actually incorrect, as they state that it is a trumpet shape that collects sounds, however, it is not intended to collect sounds, but to induce binaural information so that we can perceive up above sounds, down below, in front and behind sound perceptions, if their explanation was correct, the pinna would probably look like the ears of a cat/horse/deer so that we can collect sounds that way, but the ridges and nooks and parabolic nature of the human ear is shaped in a very particular way so that differential tones of reflections within the ears, depending upon the direction of the sound to the pinna will induce a unique tone that all other directions will not have, so the brain can very simply determine from which direction the sounds are coming from. The human pinna, or outer ear, is the only organ of the human body where you can actually see how it works, as long as you comprehend the function of the pinna and how sound is modified by it before it goes into the ear canal.
Ninja nerd teaches physiology of ear and anatomy zone specifically teaches anatomy than physiology. Obviously theirs a difference in their way of teaching. In order to learn its physiology u will need to go through ninja nerds videos and for anatomy, anatomy zone excels at it.
