  • Jeffrey Toobin returned to CNN as the network's chief legal analyst on Thursday, eight months after he exposed himself during a Zoom call with colleagues at The New Yorker.
Toobin was interviewed by anchor Alisyn Camerota on "CNN Newsroom" about that incident, and about recent legal news.
"I feel like we should address what's happened in the months since we've seen you," Camerota said. She summarized the situation and said, "To quote Jay Leno, 'What the hell were you thinking?'"
Toobin described himself as a "flawed human being who makes mistakes" and said his conduct was "deeply moronic and indefensible."
He added, "I didn't think other people could see me," but he admitted that was no defense.
In the interview, Toobin expressed apologies to his wife and family, to the people who were on the Zoom call that day, and to his colleagues.
"And I'm sorry to the people who read my work and who watched me on CNN who thought I was a better person than this. And so, you know, I got a lot to rebuild, but I feel very privileged and very lucky that I'm going to be able to try to do that," he said.
Toobin said he has spent his "miserable months" off-air "trying to be a better person."
He mentioned "therapy;" public service like working a food bank; and a forthcoming book about the Oklahoma City bombing.
"I am trying to become the kind of person that people can trust again," he said.
Going forward, Toobin will be back on CNN regularly in his chief legal analyst role, a spokesman confirmed. Toobin said he was "incredibly grateful" to continue working at the network.

Agreed. The difference for him is that he did it at an inappropriate time on a zoom call. But in the privacy
of his own home. Its not like he did it at the office; like none of them are sexually active in their private life.
Just bad judgement on his part; He would be better off working for self or another network where their
audience does not know him that well.

What’s going on here is Jeffrey Toobin is trying to correct an emotional situation with logic… And it will never work. He will never overcome that moment. I think the worst part is that it got national attention and reached millions and millions of people with different personalities and different opinions on it.
Jeffrey Toobin will forever be attached to that moment. Whenever someone mentions his name, that moment will inevitably be associated in everyone’s thoughts. That moment is equivalent to a scar that covers 30% of your face that can’t be ignored by people that look at you.
The jokes and the comments and the laughter will follow him around for the rest of his career regardless of CNN taking him back.
The sad thing is no one will ever take him seriously again. Life can be very brutal.

The difference is intent. Everyone masturbates, not everyone cheats, or sends unsolicited nudes, or harasses people. The act in and of itself should not be condemned or shamed in the slightest. The fact that he accidentally thrust this private act upon unsuspecting colleagues, is embarrassing, and clearly a massive lack of attention on his part. Is it worthy of some form of punishment? Obviously. Does it make him a bad person? Hell no, not even a little bit. Losing his job, then having to discuss this on television, should be punishment enough. I think he deserves to be forgiven.

I assure you the way he returned like this, with a female anchor having him tell everyone what he did, was his suggestion. The joke is on the women of CNN. I'll bet cash money that around the office he promotes being called "Bad Jeffrey, bad boy." This return just makes the women of CNN all look 'low rent.' I heard they considered replacing Jeffrey Toobin with Michael Avenatti. Zoom works the same in prison and it would be the same standards for CNN. These career women sure do like to pick and choose who they work with. If you're the wrong guy you get canceled for a rumor from 20 years ago. If you're Toobin you can do whatever you want, documented on video, and you're right back working alongside those understanding ladies in a few months.

Geez, it’s not like he killed somebody! He apologized, it was a personal act, he didn’t cheat on his wife, or steal, and he didn’t know he was on camera. He’s not a criminal. This was a total over reaction on the part of the New Yorker!

It’s so unfair how things have turned out to be due to the recent world pandemic things have been so difficult
This is not good in the sense that it ends up affecting the civilians financially in different angles of life
We see complaints here and there in social media, from different people in different party all around the world
The government has less or no time for their people anymore
