That is the first trail I never wanted to end! Now I'm watching through your lens and still don't want it to end! Thanks for sharing 👍 stay safe and happy trails 👣
Just found this video. We met you guys at Observation point at the top of Cadillac Hill on your way in. It was cool to see you guys go up Old Sluice. I think that is the hardest section of trail on the Rubicon.
The rocks are kinda similar... a bit less smooth. The traction is New Mexico is good depending on what kind of tires you are running. The trails all differ, though... some waterfalls are super slick, and some you hook the tires right up. A lot of guys run stickies for the extreme trails. For all the other trails, I've seen all kinds of tires work well out here with the exception of Patagonias. The Patagonias rip side walls really easy and don't grip as well on the rocks.
We did the trail two times this year. May 14th in the snow reverse to the springs and back, then July from Loon lake all the way through. In a YJ on 33s
That sounds like a lot of fun! Mike went in a yj on 33s 20 years ago and thought to himself that he would never want to run it with anything smaller than 33s. I had never been on it... so it was super fun for me!
Great video! We are scheduled to do the Rubicon first week of October. Can you tell me how long it took you to get to Buck Island Lake on the first day? Also how long it took from Buck Island Lake to Loon Lake on the 2nd day?
We hit the trail around 8 and it took us about 7 hours to get to Buck Island (taking time and videos). The drive from Buck Island to Loon Lake only took us from 9 am to 330 (6.5 hrs) and we went through the old true sluce and all the other hard lines. It's 16 miles total. Buck Island is definitely the best free area to camp in our opinion! Oh and make sure you have plenty of gas if you have a small tank!

Great video. Thank you so much letting us enjoy the great footage without overpowering music tracs. I hope to do this trail someday.
I hope you get to also! Definitely a bucket list kinda road trip!
Great job!!! Love seeing it from the other side. Hopefully I’ll get to do it one day. Keep up the good work guys.
Greatly appreciate the feedback! I highly recommend it if you get the chance! We kept putting it off and off and finally we just said let's go!
Such a great trail!
Right!
Great job on old sluce I can't wait to run it that direction. 🙌
Very fun! Thanks for capturing the adventure!
Thanks for watching!

Way cool!!! It was so awesome running into all the people we did 🤩. And yes... definitely the hardest section of the trail!
Nice job filming the trail. I ran it 6 years ago and it's interesting to see what's changed/moved.
Thanks man! I wanted to try and have a good representation of what to expect when you get there. The final cut turned out better than I hoped.
You guys make it look easier than it is. Nice job
Lol the big tires help!
Too awesome!
You finally made it to the Rubicon Trail I'm so jealous!
It was a blast!
How does the traction compare to New Mexico? Coming from Eastern Canada we found the traction on the Rubicon amazing.

Way cool you guys thanks for taking us along!
Thanks for joining us!

What paint did you use to get Kayla’s(sorry if miss spelled)Jeep armor looking amazing and the same color?
Hey! Glad you asked. We just used the factory color (PPG automotive paint). Painted it in the garage with an HVLP spray gun and our air compressor! 😀
