I hate when people worry about their DPS... their gear... it's all about the epicness of it all. If you've played this and taken a long, long, break from it, you look back and think. Nostalgia just drowned me. I feel very happy when I listen to this. Sad. Melancholy. Blizzard being able to create this is a miracle in itself. I thank them.
Grizzly Hills was the best part of leveling up in Wrath for me. I lucked out and as a hunter, I had no trouble leveling. But then a friend of mine who was a Paladin wanted to power level as well. This is one my favorite memories of WoW in general. We rofledstomped our way to 80 and it started in Grizzly Hills.
In my opinion, Grizzly Hills was the most beutiful place i've ever seen in WotLK. i like wandering around and see all the wildlife around it. The little group of animals, the heards of horses, the everlasting battles over all the resources. Aaaaah, the times.
i swear to the fucking cosmos, on the rare occasion where i need to absolutely stop everything in my life and just breathe before i feel like i want to die - i put this song on and remember that there are so many wondefully beautiful things in the world. does that sound stupid? somehow the music helps me find a way to get through and i will always be so grateful for that . . .
I haven't played WoW since late WoD, but I still sometimes think about the epic moments I had in my experiences in WoW. This zone and this music rank among the best.
I wish I could go back 5 years to play this for the first time again. That feeling.. will never come back. All new wow releases are fun for 2 months, then I rather start 30 character and slowly level it up, waiting to go through wotlk areas again.
+Jing Mu You can always turn your XP off at your capital city. Or choose not to wear heirlooms. Also... just because you out-level a zone doesn't mean you can't continue to experience the zone. You just won't get as much xp for it.
I remember the first time I set foot in this zone during the first couple of days of the expansions' launch. I remember thinking how beautiful everything was, despite the fact I had to exterminate giant Viking people. The entire time in this zone, this tune would just sit in the back of my head. When I logged off, I found myself humming it. :) That is the World of Warcraft I remember. Leveling trying to get to the Icecrown Citadel.
Its hard not to imagine a lonely fur trader playing this music just over the next hill to pass the time, and the whole forest stops to listen to the notes echo through the trees as if the music of that fur trader reflected the spirit of the forest itself.
This youtube link is the only icon i have on my desktop, This reminds me of all the great moments world of warcraft gave me, People can say whatever they want about gamers and nerds, but boy do we deliver passion like noone else.
My main was flying over Grizzly Hills and this started to play. I looked down on a grassy valley and saw a heard of wild horses running free. Beautiful.
@1990bjb No, I think most players get that same sense of Awe when they visit Grizzly Hills and hear this music. I personally find this to be my favorite zone... far away from all the hustle and bustle of Dalaran and Icecrown back in the day, out in the middle of nowhere not battling scourge for once. It's a realistic zone, one might come across a place like Grizzly Hills in real life.
Going to grizzly hills the first time and doing every single quest there was probably my single favorite part of wotlk. The environment and music were just fantastic, it felt almost like a single player rpg.
Grizzly Hills probably had it all for all players who had been there: an abundance of meat to cook, minerals to find on occasion, plenty of clothy mobs, herbs to gather, animals to skin, in short, true pioneer's spirit is what came from Grizzly Hills. Not to mention the many easy to follow quests. For any player lvl 73-78 this place is practically heaven. And the finishing touch? You're listening to it right now.
This is by far the best music in wow, not only is it soothing, but it flows so well with the zone that it is almost impossible not to imagine your character really standing at one of its amazing views taking a break from being a hero to reflect on how far they have come and on the amazing things they have seen. I may be looking in to it a little too much though, if so then sorry for sounding wierd.
The quest where you had to scare those mustangs... I found it sad to do. Just so awesome to see them running. I am just not questing anymore even though Im at 74. Im just wandering around.
Brings back sweet memories of WoW at all, sadly there is not enough time anymore to play it. WotLK was nice end of my WoW playing and will be always stored in my heart.
love reading through this comments and being transported into ten years ago. i didn't get to play wrath when it was current, but damn i sure wish i did. thank y'all for sharing your experiences. 2022 is right around the corner, i don't know the trajectory WoW is on at this moment, seems like it's slowly fading away. it's a strange feeling, knowing that these memories we create in this pixel landscape will stay with us much, much longer then the pixels will.
It was a different kind of time, for sure. Hell, I still remember getting my copy on preorder and watching the opening cinematic for the first time. Leveling through the zones and hanging with guildies was so much fun then, and Grizzly Hills was definitely a fond memory. People can say what they want about Cataclysm, but it was also a lot of fun in its own way, at least until all the green jesus shit near the end. It's hard to say what the future holds for WoW currently, but at least we all have our memories from a time gone by.
The best moments were these where I was derping around in the beginning as a noob , discovering every cool new feature.. doing quests in these new areas with friends and enjoying the MMORPG. These days there's only the RPG left.. I miss those old days full of good memories
@1990bjb Wierd?! the music and the zone are perfect for each other and when im in the grizzly hills im jealous at my char that he's there and im not. the grizzly hills is my favorite zone and it will always stay that, and the funny part is when im in the grizzly hills i dont really want to do any killing, i enjoy the view and the zone and then i notice that i haven't dinged for about 1 day or something :D
@1990bjb You're truly a mind reader. Exactly my point of view! I love Grizzly Hills, and although it's not actually a real life area, it'll always remain one of my favorites, it's so beautiful... I agree with you to 100%.
When playing WoW the music is a great part of it and after playing for a couple years i decided that This is my favourite piece of music. Its so soothing and i always use the soundfile to play it over all other areas music. I also really like the OLD booty bay music when i was in a bit more happy mood :)
i remember when i was flying through grizzly hills and the music was exactly like this, a bit better and i was just soo warmed up by its beauty. really good tine
@JamesRadnus You hit the nail right on the head. Apart from some irritating areas (namely the place with the giants wandering around, which can be a pain until you get coldweather flying), this is the ideal zone to be in.
@1990bjb Sounding wierd and looking to deep? I say, nay! What you wrote was a mere view on exactly how it is! Hell you could make a bloody damn good movie about it even. What you wrote caught me not only by eye, but by heart. It was beautifully writen, and describes it of what we really are playing. It is not just a game, but a feeling. An expirience of pure art, such as the views and lore, but also the masteful pieces of music. I say, keep at it!
I love this music. so relaxing and warming. I really love it near the end personally. I think that this and the dragonblight music are probably the best in the game.
Dude, you may have posted that 2 years ago. I still listen to this and love it. If you just listen to it, it feels like you're going through the woods of Grizzly Hills. Ohh, I'm currently questing here and it is amazing :'D
Anyone knows any place to buy this music? I would love to have it on MP3 or CD so I can listen to it when I go to bed. Im really having sleeping issues and classic music like this is just so great! The first time I heard this music was with the quest to kill those bears at the little stream you see in this vid. It was just awesome.
@1990bjb This music almost makes me cry... haha... it makes me feel like buying a car like "back to future" and go back some centuries ago when the world was not full of cities!
It's true. But everything in the past is always better, because we only remember the really good things and how it felt. I used to dislike Cata, but I can't help feel a little nostalgic and happy when hearing the Log-in soundtrack.
The music sounds as if its creators were influenced of the Scandinavian folkmusic and melodies. Lots of sad and bittersweet tones. And since the Vrykyl and their villages and names of both are very influenced of the Viking-era of Scandinavia Jotunheim in Icecrown can be compared to the region of Jotunheimen in Norway.
@BonnieBlueFlag1314 the only downside to that is that the experience only lasts for the first couple of months afterwards it just boils down to, as you said, number crunching...at least it did for me : / i do have to agree World of warcraft can be a wonderful experience
This music is so relaxing. It actually made me feel a little sorry for the hordes I was mercilessly decapitating. Like the were whispering: "Please... no... I have a wife and kids".
what you think is true. or isn't it? actually, I found the gameplay boring after TBC, that (and the fact I haven't got much time) is the reason why I quit. the music and story remained as it was, good, beautiful, awesome... take your pick. that's why, after nearly 4 years I still listen to it. brings back memories.
@nonmodfag It kind of matches Canada a little more, from a stereotyping view anyways. Trappers and woodcutters who live in log houses. I think Northrend's zones are more just based on all northern countries, though Grizzly Hills does make me think Canada. I'm Canadian by the way.
@ThePrinceMC the more i listen to WOTLK music.....the more and more i miss it, i came in post WOTLK the last week of Burning Crusade, i was leveling up a NE hunter, i came out nagrand and jumped into Netherstorm, the next day i went out and bought WOTLK and.....took my first step into WOTLK, from then on, it was the first XPAC i played through completly....i really miss it, i dont play anymore i hate Cata.... Ill go ahead and break the 99 likes and make it 100-0
We say we miss Vanillia We say we miss BC We say we miss WOTLK. After these expansions I truely find it hard to not get bored in this game. I love MOP its great but it never live up to WOTLK or BC why? Because back then the game revolved heavyly around characteristics of zones which all looked diffrent frome ach other. I look at MOP and it seems all the same it really does which is a shame I call Panderia "Lots of colourful tree land."
@BonnieBlueFlag1314 This game WAS an experience, blizzard went money hungry and made it soo casual, too predictable, it's a job now if you ask me and quite a shitty job since you have to pay for it.
i disagree with this completely... a lot of the music is really good. a couple notable favorites i have are (that arent even from wotlk) the music in black temple, namely the summit music, Grim Batol the dungeon in cataclysm, and the vale of eternal blossoms from mists of pandaria. when i think of blizzard, i think of how amazing almost all of the music is in all of their games and how immersive it makes the experience.
@BonnieBlueFlag1314 the only downside to that is that the experience only lasts for the first couple of months afterwards it just boils down to, as you said, number crunching...at least it did for me : / i do have to agree though World of warcraft can be a wonderful experience

doesn't sound stupid at all. i understand exactly how you feel.
Not at all, well said.
I haven't played WoW since late WoD, but I still sometimes think about the epic moments I had in my experiences in WoW. This zone and this music rank among the best.
Definitely one of the most beautiful zones in World of Warcraft. If not one of them, the *BEST*.
I wish I could go back 5 years to play this for the first time again. That feeling.. will never come back. All new wow releases are fun for 2 months, then I rather start 30 character and slowly level it up, waiting to go through wotlk areas again.
Bob Fejtek I have the exact same feeling, starting the game late -09, no regrets, dayum it was good.
+Bob Fejtek Agree. Leveling up is too fast right now, hope there is a way to slow it down.
+Jing Mu You can always turn your XP off at your capital city. Or choose not to wear heirlooms. Also... just because you out-level a zone doesn't mean you can't continue to experience the zone. You just won't get as much xp for it.

then warmane is for you :)

How to break into tears in less than one minute
Welcome to Norway, please enjoy your stay!

I'm getting this song on my phone so when I go to the Adirondack Mountains soon it will be...PERFECT
I love this music. I normally play with my music off anymore but whenever I fly through and quest in Grizzly Hills, I make sure to turn it back on.
The quest where you had to scare those mustangs... I found it sad to do. Just so awesome to see them running.
I am just not questing anymore even though Im at 74. Im just wandering around.
Thank you all for loving the song of my people.

i remember when i was flying through grizzly hills and the music was exactly like this, a bit better and i was just soo warmed up by its beauty. really good tine
Grizzly Hills? More like Cozy Hills!
Not to mention the Westfall crew! I remember seeing Old Blanchy and being so happy she made it to Northrend. I think the music made me sappy. lol
@JamesRadnus You hit the nail right on the head. Apart from some irritating areas (namely the place with the giants wandering around, which can be a pain until you get coldweather flying), this is the ideal zone to be in.

love these lofty lullabies thx
2019 and still fighting for the survival of the Alliance, humanity as a whole in the real world and grizzly hills should have taught us something
Anyone knows any place to buy this music?

Im really having sleeping issues and classic music like this is just so great!
The first time I heard this music was with the quest to kill those bears at the little stream you see in this vid. It was just awesome.
How I wish there was a full ost of this available on spotify.
Welcome to Canada, Always thinking that when entering the place xD
man this make me think about the good times of wow Woltk had so much fun on Woltk Cata dont have the same fill yet.
Best music in Wrath. Miss this zone.
@1990bjb This music almost makes me cry... haha... it makes me feel like buying a car like "back to future" and go back some centuries ago when the world was not full of cities!
Not just Norway, Scandinavia. The instrument used in the solo is swedish btw.
Someplaces yes, but with more mountains :p Norway is beautiful, You should come visit someday!
Join the fight! Let there be no red bar! This music shall and must have a full epic green bar!
@1990bjb Nahh you describe my feelings for this piece of music excellently :D
@Cernunnas Awwww man! I totally forgot about Old Blanchy! I still have the bag I got so many levels ago, good times =')
Lol remember when i called up blizzard and was on hold it was playing this and when i got to costomer services i asked them to put me back on hold
Not just Norway. The instrument used in the solo is swedish btw.
@nonmodfag its not an hardingfele but an nyckelharpa, you can clearly hear the buttons :)
beautiful, serene and boreal! :)
I always wished it was the endgame zone where all the fun things happened because in my opinion, it was one of the best zones developed in Wotlk
I should very much like to know who is playing the nyckelharpa so well in this recording.
It's true. But everything in the past is always better, because we only remember the really good things and how it felt. I used to dislike Cata, but I can't help feel a little nostalgic and happy when hearing the Log-in soundtrack.
this is the best song ever
More like British Columbia.. or Alaska. You know, fur traders, cabins, fiddle music?
@1990bjb
The music is actually Nordic folk music, mostly swedish
The music sounds as if its creators were influenced of the Scandinavian folkmusic and melodies. Lots of sad and bittersweet tones. And since the Vrykyl and their villages and names of both are very influenced of the Viking-era of Scandinavia Jotunheim in Icecrown can be compared to the region of Jotunheimen in Norway.
this. is. so. AWESOME!

i do have to agree World of warcraft can be a wonderful experience

Where can you get this music! I went to Grizzly Hills for the first time today and after hearing the music, came here!

From back when at least part of WoW's developers had an idea of how to make good zones.
best place in the whole world of warcraft :)
Epic things
So Nice.
Can I come back?
von Hercynius /goddamnwrists
Can I join you?
tfor some reason this song has a sad feeling to it and i dunno why
@seattle0sound Old Blanchy is dead in Cataclysm.
Best zone in LK better than the best Zone in TBC Nagrand. The music is awesome in this zone.
dat solo
old blanchy is happy now!
@BonnieBlueFlag1314 This game WAS an experience, blizzard went money hungry and made it soo casual, too predictable, it's a job now if you ask me and quite a shitty job since you have to pay for it.
Nyckelharpa! But do you know the name of the piece, or perhaps even the musician?
epic

Expansions should have stopped at WOTLK
Expansions should have stopped at WOTLK The world has changed too much already.
nordic themes for nordic lands, soft ppl just cant handle. sry for no arian race
@pvddda cata zones are high resolution but boring design :[
This is one of the best music in WoW, but then again, everything else is crap, so it's not much of a contest
This made me miss WotLK :( cata is so boring and stupid :(
IS EVERYONE TOO LAZY TO TYPE OUT "CLYSM" OR ARE YOU JUST ROBOTS YOU LIKE TYPING LIKE EVERYONE ELSE?
