Best demo of this pedal on RUclips and I have seen a bunch. Getting those iconic tones using pedals is what makes this demo unique. It would be great if you had a breakdown of the pedals and settings you used to get the sounds so close to the originals.
Thanks, Matthew. Too kind. I’m actually about to start a third Lion video for a trilogy of these so maybe I’ll add a segment about the production I did to emulate what would have happened in the studio with these tracks. Good idea. Thanks!
Wow, I haven't seen your videos for years! (last one I saw was a Foxrox thru-0 demo years ago, can't remember where I saw it, I used to be on the EJ forum a lot so could have been from there maybe?) you're still a killer player and still know how to get great sounds! Thanks for the demo, it's definitely put the Lion on my want list.
Again, your range as a guitarist is uncanny! The whole world should know of you. So glad I do… And I don’t know how I missed these vids, I’m subbed. You’re crazy great…..
Do you guys notice a weird almost ring modulation-like sound with your Lion pedal? It hits a lot it seems on the higher frets of the lower strings on Mine and almost sounds like a lofi oct effect. It’s driving me nuts haha
@@solfox3287 Try maybe turning off the “ghost notes” in settings via the app? It’s emulating transformer hum mixing with a note you play creating a third harmonic that some amps do.
I've watched both of your demo videos on the Lion a few dozen times now. You're a phenomenal player - I always think I'm a half decent player then I see people like you just tearing it up. I've got the pedal on order now, but at this point I keep coming back just to play along and study your technique.
Wow, Brian. That’s too kind. Thank you - sincerely. There are so many virtuosos on social media these days and I usually feel very similarly to what you described when surfing around. I kinda see myself as just a “tone guy” and frankly a bit of a dinosaur. To think I’m regarded otherwise by anyone watching these is incredibly flattering. I will remember this comment so thank you again. Hope you enjoy the Lion like I am and it provides fun and inspiration for you!
@@BrendanMowatSmith my Lion gets here Tuesday. Gonna run it through Marshall Origin 50 head into a 2 x 12, and I have a Nux mg30 going into two other 2 x 12s to mix with it. May not even want to I remember watching Eric in the clubs ....changed my life Thanks again
@rogerwilliams2629 That sounds like it’ll be great. You’ll have to use the 4 cable method and run it into the FX loop if you’re gonna use it with the Origin. I haven’t tried that method yet - just direct, but I’m sure it’ll be cool as I’ve heard lots of folks enjoy it that way. Also, incredibly jealous of your seeing EJ back in the day. Today is his birthday! The big 7-0.
@@BrendanMowatSmithThank you! What about Voodoo Child? Fuzz with volume rolled up? Any additional pedals? Does the in room sound close to before EQ or way different? (I know you’re good at surgically EQ’ing to match recordings from your other videos). Wish there was some way without a computer to have these tones possible in a live scenario.
Love the ej-cliffs of dover tone. Any chance you might post knob/alt-knob settings? I think i can see the amp settings but many of them have multiple effects.
Hey, thanks. The knob settings should be as shown in the background of each respective clip. There’s not really a way to see where the secondary functions are set after you’ve saved a sound unfortunately.
That's gotta be the best Cliffs of Dover Live tone I've ever heard. What else did you use in conjunction with the Lion pedal, if you don't mind me asking. Great playing, subbed.
Wow. Much appreciated, Casey. That segment was the UA Starlight > PastFX TD-Y > UA Del•Verb on the spring setting > Lion > TC SCF. That went straight into the Apollo. I EQ’d a bit in Logic to and added the Lexicon 224 and some subtle stereo delays for a further chorusing effect as my investigation lead me to believe happened on the DVD reissue.
Wow, that's quite the recipe! Can't argue with the results haha. I might need to check out that TD-Y pedal, never heard of it! Thanks for the response@@BrendanMowatSmith

Adversely, I could just play what inspires and feels and sounds best and the things you mentioned aren’t it. What makes me laugh is dudes that offer condescending unsolicited musical advice on other people’s work and when you go to their channel and it’s entirely comprised of them filming toilets. You live your life and I’ll live mine, thanks.
I agree with your cat, that 88 ACL performance is the greatest concert ever put to film.
Chesterfield has impeccable taste for someone that eats out of a can his whole life.
I knew which artist you were talking about before I even watched the video haha

You have an uncanny ability to nail iconic tones; and the chops to back it! 👏

Easily the best demo of this pedal that I have heard.
