    I used to watch this movie with my dad growing up. We've lit up endless joints watching this at midnight bonding about the funny moments, For example "Chocolate man!". He passed away 2 years ago and I haven't brought myself to watch the movie myself without him. Every time I think about those times I wanna roll into a ball and cry. Miss you dad

    Sleepaway Camp works equally well as both a movie you can laugh at with friends AND a truly effective 80's slasher. Love the uber 80's soundtrack, I just wish the track "Tonight You're Mine" existed somewhere in its complete form as I've always thought that was better than this one. (still dig this one!)

    When I look into your eyes
    It comes as no surprise
    You're slippin' away
    Angie, you're the love of my life
    It's so cold at night
    Beggin' you to stay
    I know it's all a masquerade
    I know you're not afraid
    You're just what I've been looking for
    No other boy can love you more
    You're the only girl I adore
    You're just what I've been looking for
    Time will mend your broken heart
    Just don't fall apart
    The truth will hold inside
    Angie, I don't wanna let you go
    I don't wanna let them know
    The pain you have to hide
    I know it's all a big charade
    oh-oh, oh-oh
    I know you're not afraid
    No, oh-oh, oh-oh

      Dat face, I know about body language, Notice Susie had her mouth covered and her arms close to her, she's shielding her major organs and hiding herself, this is a defensive behavior, but she keeps her eyes on the stressor which is Peter/Angela, Paul is looking in shock, but leaning back, this is a distancing behavior, he is avoiding the Stressor, Angela is standing upright in a battle pose, her smile shows pure insanity, at this point she feels confident and in control, she is beyond any and all logical reasoning here, she is just in a psychotic killing rage, a juggernaut that will smash anything in her path. Think Private Pyle in Full Metal Jacket, the smiles were very similar, the same state of mind, pure insanity.

    I absolutely love Sleepaway Camp!!! Such a great movie and this theme fits in perfectly :D I recently imported the Blu-ray and was pleasantly surprised at how clear it now is, you notice so many things you didn't notice before, especially one part in particular towards the end. I listened to the new commentary on it and Felissa and Jonathan said that they both think that Ricky knew Angela's secret and that they both did the killings in the movie. What do you all think? Now that they've said it, that's the theory I'm going with

    • @maggiekoch9348

      CCNProductions Actually, logistically speaking, Angela couldn't been in all the spots for the kills. It's very Prom Nightish in that regard, in that anybody left alive is a possible suspect.

    • @markalexander5479
      @markalexander5479 8 лет назад +12

      +CCNProductions Totally agree. There's a couple of scenes where it is CLEARLY Ricky, not Angela doing the killing (especially Judy where you see the killer silhouetted in the doorway).
      Also at the start when the (INSANE) mother/aunt tells them not to let the camp know that she did their medicals, Ricky says "No matter what they do, I'll never tell". He sounds sarcastic but he could be referring to Angela's secret.
      Also, when Meg throws her in the water and he runs to help her he also bends her forward slightly as they walk away (her wet clothes would probably give away a suspicious bulge).
      Also, the fact that they grew up together = how could he not know?

    • @jennyn5692
      @jennyn5692 8 лет назад +11

      +Mark Alexander I believe Ricky definitely knew, but whether he was also doing the killing is up for debate. However, they used the actor playing him to do all the murder scenes because Felissa Rose's mother didn't want her to do it. Although why she wasn't ok with that but was ok with her doing that ending scene is beyond me, lol.

    • @Xehanort10
      @Xehanort10 6 лет назад +3

      Felissa Rose didn't actually do the end scene. A teenage lad wearing a mask made from a mould of her face did it and he had to get drunk to do the scene. Felissa Rose was originally going to do it wearing a prosthetic penis but she ended up not doing it.

      Watch the Sequels, Angela became a killing juggernaut that decimated any camper she deemed a bad camper in some way, offenses could be something as small as a woman exposing herself to boys, or smoking weed. In Sleepaway Camp 2 she killed an entire group she was in charge of, there was one survivor, one girl had a habit of telling on people when they upset her, or did something bad, Angela had just killed a girl and had the door locked, this girl came in at the wrong time, she said "somebody locked the door, you guys I'm gonna tell"! I forget how she got in, but she did, Saw the dead girl, then Angela emerged, holding a knife and 1,000 yard stare, the girl pleaded "I didn't do anything"! Angela replied, "You're gonna TELL"! Then went shitballs on the girl. But by part 3 with a camper, a farm girl from Ohio, Angela Baker, met her match.

    • @Joshua0810
      @Joshua0810 4 года назад +2

      I already commented my traumatizing experience of the end during my first watch 2 years ago, under another video, so I'm not writing everything again. But I'll make it short: During the whole movie I was thinking that Ricky was the killer or it was a "Friday the 13th" situation in which the dad and Peter, or Angela, survived the accident at the beginning and started killing the campers. Then the flashback already freaked me out, because it was so unexpected that it was PETER the whole time and he only was raised as a girl because Aunt Martha always wanted a girl. But then when Angela jumped up with that face, I was so terrified that I wanted to turn it off for a while, but I couldn't find my remote control and the TV was on very very veRY VERY high volume. And then when you actually get to SEE Angela's pe...male genitalia, I was even MORE shocked, because I had a crush on Angela ( I still love Felissa Rose though ). So to make it short: The ending of "Sleepaway Camp" terrified me SO MUCH that I sleeped with lights on for a whole month.

    Here's a little known fact revealed by Felissa Rose who played Angela, Angela originally wasn't the killer, in fact she was supposed to die halfway through the movie, her cousin Ricky was the original killer, by the director changed the story around later on.

      @thisism5546 4 года назад +4

      Nope. Angela was always supposed to be the killer and Ricky never was. I don't know where you got this information from, but that's clearly a bs lie. Felissa Rose never said anything like that & Angela was never supposed to die. She's the main character lmao. At first Ricky was going to die after the beating that Mel gave him but later the director changed the story and let Ricky live.

    I really like the song and it has some old horror creepiness to it. I can't help but to feel sorry for Norman Bates and Angela Baker because they lived such a screwed up life and I don't think they really like killing people. I don't think Angela wanted to kill Paul she just couldn't be exposed as being a guy. Norman from Psycho had a split personality and it was his other personality that was "Mother" that killed. The only time I recall his own personality getting violent is to protect Mother.

    Keep in mind too that Angela (Peter) had a head injury from the boat as a child. I think it was a combination of the head injury and Aunt Martha making him cross dress which contributed to "her" insanity. Aunt Martha was a doctor too so I wouldn't be surprised if Angela wasn't given female hormones at some point (just a theory). I think Martha's husband (Ricky's dad) left her either because she was or went insane or him leaving her drove her to insanity. Insanity runs in families.

    Pamela Springsteen's version of Angela seems to enjoy being a serial killer. Felissa Rose will always be Angela to me but Pamela did a good alternative version to the original Angela. Pamela is scary as hell! She had me scared especially when that girl woke up on a grill and she set her on fire after seeing her sister's burnt corpse in front of her. Pamela and Felissa can act! Terry O'Quinn's portrayal of the Stepfather in The Stepfather I and II (original franchise) does a good job at scary.

    Martha wanted the girl she could not have with her husband because he left her and she only had her son Ricky with him. I'm pretty sure Martha is the paternal aunt. Sleepaway Camp is like a cross between Psycho and Friday the 13th. She was arrested after the Camp Arawak murders and was silent and just gave the police glares when they asked why she dressed Peter as Angela. The authorities believed that what Martha Thomas did greatly contributed to why Angela murdered.

    Ronnie was always nice to Angela. When Angela was posing as Sheriff Jerry and Ronnie got all paranoid and hysterical suspecting Angela was back and killing again she as the Sheriff threw him up against the wall but never killed him. She spared him and she was killing people who were harming Alan. Angela didn't just kill for the hell of it but Pamela Springsteen's Angela in part 2 and 3 was more of a true serial killer who was more sadistic and enjoyed killing. Return to Sleepaway ignores 2 and 3

  • @equalityboy81
    @equalityboy81 11 лет назад +2

    But keep in mind that Pamela Springsteen's Angela was more sadistic and enjoyed killing (and needed less provoking to kill in part 3) than Felissa Rose's portrayal of Angela in part 1 and Return to Sleepaway Camp who killed more out of insanity and vengeful rages of being constantly harassed and in the last movie killed on behalf of someone who was extremely bullied and even saved Alan's life from his stepbrother killing him when he thought Alan the killer.

    I think Angela felt she had no choice but to kill Paul because he was going to eventually find out she was a he. The big mystery to me is what is Angela Baker's true sexual orientation and gender identity? Does Angela like guys or girls or is she bisexual or even asexual? There is some speculation that the real Angela actually survived and may have been the real killer in Return to Sleepaway Camp. Who was the person that got life saving surgery after the first movie? Artie from being boiled?

    I've heard those theories of them both being the killer but not sure if that is what the series intended. I do know that Jonathan Tiersten did all the killing scenes instead of Felissa Rose and it was that actor who stood in the doorway to Judy's room.

      I guess Jonathan Tiersren also served as the stunt double for Felissa in all of the killing/murder scenes.

    Aunt Martha: (in flashback) Angela... Such a lovely name... Why, I believe it means "angel"... Why, yes, I am sure it does! I know you're going to like that name! ...Won't you, Peter?...
    (young Peter from the flashback raises his head in confusion; the flashback ends and we cut to "Angela", or rather, PETER, standing up with Paul's severed head dropping on the ground with the background music reaching a scare chord with blaring horns)
    Ronnie: How can it be...?
    (Peter\"Angela" is staring at them with a nightmarish, unhinged face, nude and covered in blood while letting out unearthly breathing\snarling noises)
    Ronnie: Oh my God, she's a boy...
    (camera shows a full picture of the nude Peter\"Angela" that shows that "she" has a penis; the movie ends as the two horrified counselors discover that Peter\"Angela" was not only the mysterious murderer but that "she" was also a forced trans; freeze frame on Peter's\"Angela's" disturbing face as the blaring horns music reaches its peak, the breathing\snarling noises are still heard and the screen becomes green; this song begins playing as the credits begin scrolling on the freeze frame and creates a dissonance between its corny nature and the horror of what was just shown just moments before)

    I bet they could totally redo this film but make it more serious than campy and unintentional humour traded in for scarier moments. With all the damn remakes it would make more sense to redo a cult classic that isn't that popular.

  • @equalityboy81

    With the exception of the cop Angela killed to pose as Sheriff Jerry, in the last movie Angela only killed those who she deemed as evil and deserving of death. She probably would not have axed anymore little kids for throwing sand at her like she did in the first movie (and the director regrets that in the first movie). Every victim in Return to Sleepaway I was rooting for Angela. You'll understand if you watch the movie. I don't think Angela's father being gay had any role in the killings.

      Well, Felissa actually did audition for part 2, but Micheal Simpson wanted Pam Springsteen, plus Felisha has stated in recent interviews that she really wasn't digging the black comedy style they used. Anyways, I am a fan of parts 2 & 3, as well, & think Pam did an awesome job. I just wish she weren't so reclusive & more willing to make public appearances, like Felissa does.
