I wouldn't say that's quite true. I mean the EU has banned imports or had strong import regulations against US beef for hormone treatments and produce like apples for GMO's as well as other stuff. It's just generally that US produce tends to be of lower quality as producers value yield, durability etc over health/taste (even though the effects of GMO's on the human body and the environment are not fully understood).

You must be extra ordinary if you could taste difference. What matters though, is how the animal lived before it is served on your plate. Did it lived in stress, or did it lived in freedom? THAT is something you can taste. There are plenty of meat that isn't Halal, but the animals got a good live and had good food. (free range)The meat is so much better than supermarket meat and even the Halal meat I've ate. Have you ever ate Wagyu meat? Or free range Black Angus? They aren't Halal and among the most popular (and expensive) meat on earth.

Saying meat taste better when animals had a good life is correct though. But that wasnt the statement here...

Dubai fast-food meat is different than American food since it utilizes halal meat. Halal meat criteria include:
- Animals must be fed vegetarian diets.
- Halal animals can't be treated with antibiotics or growth hormones (since it may contain pork-based byproducts)
- Must be slaughtered by hand
- A prayer must also be spoken upon killing the animal, however this doesn't affect the quality of the meat
- Seafood-wise, only wild caught fish are halal (Farm fish may be fed animal byproduct. Fish does not need the prayer)
- Carol O'Neil, a professor of nutrition and food sciences at Louisiana State University Agricultural Center, states that halal meat is more
"humane".
- Halal meats have all blood drained from them before being consumed, since drinking blood is haram or not permissible.
Just writing this since they said the meat tastes slightly healthier and this could be why. Also, Christians are allowed to eat halal meat (even with the prayer), but I think the Jewish can't. Interestingly, Muslims can eat kosher food if halal is not available.

Night Cat 1. It’s doesn’t make the animal suffer as much as normal slaughtering. 2. The blood is completely drained (bacteria cleansing). 3. The animal has to be alive and healthy before the slaughtering. All these things make up a healthier/better taste.

A large population of Dubai is actually comprised of expats - a majority being Indian. It makes sense that there would be some foods tailored towards an Indian population.

That’s the only reason why I came to the comments. To see if anyone else mentioned they kept saying “macaroons”, when in fact they were eating macarons.
Macaroon is the American way of spelling macaron. That's why people pronounce the ending with a "roon" or "rune" sound. I know in other places, macaron is the almond cookie and a macaroon is a mini coconut filled dome shape cake.
Well, considering what they were eating was a macaRON, they should have been pronouncing it as such. The thing is, most people aren't aware there is an actual difference between a macaron and a macaroon. So, there really can't be any sort of blame other than just lack of knowledge in what they were actually eating.
+Fizzy Lifting Drink In their defense, the American way of writing it is "macaroon." They can't pronounce it macaRON because it's written macaROON in the USA. Even typing "macaron" in Google using the AM search engine will make it correct to macaroon. It's like how Germans call their country "Deutschland" but in English, it's called "Germany." You can't blame Americans for not saying it correctly because in English, that IS the correct way.
I am American as well. I've seen it spelled macaron. There are places here that make those delicious cookies. Macaroons are coconut cookies, even in the United States. Macarons are almond like flavored sandwich cookies that are soo hard to make that are soooo yummy.

I think why they have chicken Big Mac instead of beef one cuz of large Indian population in UAE. As beef is prohibited in hindu culture, we prefer chicken over beef. Even in India, Big Mac consists of chicken.
