    For those of you too young to know, Killer V is a reference to Lonnie Mack who played a Flying V through a Magnatone amp, and put out a live album called "Attack of the Killer V". When his recording of "Wham" hit the airwaves in the early '60's, every hot shot guitar player in the country went back to the woodshed. Thank you JayLeonardJ for all your fine work and another great turn on. Thanks to you I am a big fan of Crazy Tube Circuits and String Joy strings...by far the best strings I've ever used.

      Could be... More likely though it's because Magnatone amps have big "chevron" Vs on them as part of their branding.

    Love this style of demo. Jay's one of the few youtuber players I like having just chilling in the background

    Love your Channel! Best reviewer on You tube man. Your guitar playing is so entertaining, your vibe is also very cool and you ability to match music style to the tone you are demoing is just magical man. Really. Thanks for all the useful info and entertainment. I love it when I find someone that both inspires me to play and makes me want to throw my guitar in the garbage and take up chess at the exact same time. Haha

    Made it look easy, but some of the hardest modulations to work with.That's why many reject them,- takes a certain sensibility and ear.Outstanding base /driven sounds, and dig that bright mode.Like to hear someone incorporate this into some non retro compositions,- a lot to work with and inspire.

      Mickey Settlemire I have a Falcon. It’s great.

      I have the Falcon, but it's narrowing the sound of my Laney Lionheart (british model). I will try the One Control Blue Twanger (There's a video of JayLeonardJ testing it somewhere here.) and Mad Professor Super Black next. The one Crazy Tube Circuits pedal I REALLY love though is the SPT (Phaser/Univibe); sooo lush and buttery. Kicked the Red Witch Moon Phaser off my board.

    Great demo and a great sounding pedal. First of all it's different than most of the overdrive pedals out there and the vibrato is amazing. I'd be curious to see how it sounds with more bass and drive with humbuckers.

    Awesome demo man! And this pedal sounds really great especially with the tele!
    As a tele lover i would really like to know which preamp or drive pedal is your favourite to get a nice warm tone from a clean amp or ampless rig.

    Oh come on, whats that NOISE ? (I bet you know better)
    Magnatone i think early 1960s Robert Ward,(Ohio Soul, Falcons), maybe early Lonnie Mack
    ok sorry, some hints of that later in the video

    Eh... the Fender brownface amps used pitch vibrato...

    • @JayLeonardJ
      @JayLeonardJ  4 года назад +10

      The Brownface amps use a nifty Harmonic Tremolo circuit: a phase shifting kind of modulation which splits the high and low frequencies and moves them against each other. Really cool effect. The Magnatone uses more of a true Vibrato effects with modulates the pitch. Obviously I could be wrong, but that is how I hear it :)

      Jay did great, but brass tends to be a little brash when used with electrics. Glass tends to be more pleasing.
