Always great to see your podcasts. I can see an OMAS in my future.

I bought the Omas Ogiva a month ago, and have used it a lot. Its medium nib is a joy to write with, and I'm really glad I bought it. The piston filler is very effective and works really well. I had expected that the translucent resin of the barrel would allow me to see the ink level, but the blue ink in the blue resin was not really visible. My only feedback would be to add an ink window.
What a great new model for Omas, great value for money!

I wanted to see more Omas pens but you told her no! No soup for you!! The Japanese stealth thread pen was very interesting!

I was collecting pens back in the old Omas days, and I will say the nib was one of the unique selling points, not all these options like are coming but the flex.

When Cristina was talking about the new types of nibs to be released by OMAS, I heard some Asian-type nibs, but not either a "Flessibile" or Italic/Stub. I would hope an italic nib would be available.

They are working on a 1.1 and an italic/calligraphy nib.
They started in September with the Fine/Medium and in November added the Broad and Flexible Fine.
The Flexible and Stub use a different nib machining and they have to make the tooling for each nib one by one as they go.
They said you will be able to send any registered pen in for a nib exchange in the future.

Great podcast. Are there any inks that we should NOT use in the Omas pens (particularly the celluloid models)? Are there any you recommend using specifically for Omas pens, in particular for the celluloid models? Does Omas make inks for their pens?

They don't make their own proprietary inks.
No ink will mess it up, but I wouldn't use permanent or Bay State in a transparent resin.
Omas write super juicy, the closest comparison is my Meisterstuck. If you like MB nibs, you'll like Omas.
Super wet inks will feather and pool. That can be good if you like sheen/shimmer. I prefer precise writing so I use a slightly drier ink like Robert Oster.
      Love my Omas.

I remember reading some years ago that you shouldn’t use alkaline inks in celluloid fountain pens where the ink comes into contact with the celluloid (e.g. is stored in the barrel) as alkaline inks can eat into the celluloid.

I prefer old ring design. New design a good idea but this one not different enough to warrant the change.

The quality of some of the past models is very questionable specially considering the premium price tag! Some of the "vegetal resin" emits some type of residue that eats at the plating on the clip which leads to a greenish corrosion that adversely affects the resin. This leads to the clip continuing to corrode inside the cap ruining the pen. 3 of my 7 Omas have met this fate. I would be very hesitant to purchase one, sorry.
