Yshai Afterman Quintet - ״Tov Laadam״

Super excited to release the first piece from my new album!!
Its called "Tov Laadam" (" good for a man\woman" in hebrew).
The text was written by the poet\writer\presdient Zalman Shazar in the middle of the 20th century.
The poem speaks about the importance of finding the time to take a break from one's day to day routine - and to spend time in solitude - a time for contemplation on one's life and actions.. a time for insight and personal evolution.
I created the music together with my musical partner, the amazing pianist Orel Oshrat.

hey - the devision is 4-3-3-4-3. its excatly how the Bass players drums on the double bass in the begining.

Dear Yshai, In your Videos, I see, beside traditional frame drums, you use also Remo frame drums. I want to buy a Remo 16" frame drum myself but I am not sure if I should play one with Renaissance-head od fiberskyn-head. I would like to have the best possible difference between a very deep bass tone and a high sound played near to the the rim.
I also want to play it with brushes (sometimes). I play a Remo Ocean drum which is already 26 yours old and the skin gets a little „hairy“. Maybe because I played with a brush?
What would you recommend - Renaissance or fiberskyn?
I would be glad for an answer.

Head Minerve haha no, they control the sympatetic strings.. like the indian sitar. The guiter is called a “whale guitar” and it was invented by ofer himself
