Seems the C7 GS ran outta hp at 170 or so.
For those wondering why the top speed seems to be on the lower side....it's a grand sport equipped with a spoiler package. those items improve down force acting as an air brake. a standard c7 has a higher top speed because of this with no difference in power. this car was built to handle at the track.

It doesnt have the aero package and it's slow as shit. The gearing kills it. And this driver who didn't take it to redline for the first 3 gears.
@@camonly849 compared to the base vette it does have more track focused aero. The grand sport has all the Z06 goodies accept for the engine. This would be stage 1 Z06 aero. You're right about the tall 5 gear though. Better gearing might have made 5 mph difference.
@@Jr_5646 agreed. I think its just the way it's geared in the tranny or something. Idk why they didn't just put the c6 trans in it. It's perfect.
@@camonly849 gears 1-4 are pretty close. 5-6 are really tall over drive. IMO its probably mostly because of tighter and tighter EPA regulations forcing manufacturers hand. Gm has gotta make that 6.2 liter get good gas milage some how. 🤣 They do it with gearing.

The amount of drag this car has is quite astonishing for the amount of power it has. 460hp and it has a top speed just 3mph higher than a 310hp Honda civic

I'm really surprised to see these modern Corvettes struggling to achieve 180 MPH.
I would have thought 200 MPH would be considered standard for a vehicle with the reputation that Corvettes have.

All c6 models had a higher top speed which is what they were made for. The c7s were made for the track. I was able to hit 186 mph in my c7 z06 auto with stage 2 front lip spoiler, stage 3 side skirts, and stage 1 rear wing. Had I kept going I think low 190s would have been the top speed. Now I was at over 4000 feet above sea level temperature 80°F. You loose 3% of power per 1000 feet in elevation. Most don't really think about this but you have to. So I loose 80 horsepower. I'll loose more if it's over 90°F outside. I do gain back some horsepower when it's freezing outside but not all of it. Loosing +80 horsepower is a lot!

Why are the C7s so damn slow?
Because the Grandsport, Z06 and ZR1 produce so much drag with their track packs! A base c7 would be a lot quicker than this grandsport at the top end.
