GingerNtheGIANT here aka Dan...Holy crap dude, that is a shit ton of snow. I'm Canadian and I don't think I've ever seen so much snow! It's funny that the cars are unrecognizable. I didn't even know they were cars until you mentioned it. We got maybe 2 inches here. Have fun in the snow, and drive safe bud!
Wow..... I live in Northern Ontario and I must say I've seen my share of snow storms; albeit I've never seen anything like this. I say we make all Buffalo residents honourary Canadians. They defiantly know how it is to live in the great white north. Welcome aboard and best of luck with the cleanup.
Best thing anyone can do is to keep shoveling the snow away from the doors and lower level windows to prevent the snowpack from pushing in and breaking them. also make sure that ANY exhaust vents for heating systems, cooking, water heaters are also clear and unobstructed to prevent CO buildup in the structure. I lived up there and learned to deal with the lake effect snows. Stay warm when inside with layering and don't stress out to something that you have no control over. Once the storms move on it will stop snowing. That's why people who grow up in this area of the US stockpile food stuffs for several days. Heck my parents used to keep enough food stockpiled for 30 days. Because there would be periods of a week or more that we would be stuck.
Smart parents!! Our parents taught each of us to invest in a Freezer because they did and we stored enough food to last our entire family of 7 for at least half the winter, and we lived in Michigan. When I lived in Virginia, I used to laugh at my silly neighbors, who at the first sign of snow would all rush to jam pack every grocery store parking lot in the vicinity! I never had to leave my house because I never allow my food supply to get that low where I would have to feel compelled to go out in a damn blizzard to buy Milk and eggs! :-)
San47di Well said! Here in western WA, there are a lot of power outages, so most homes have a back-up system, such as a fireplace, or propane heater. We have a couple months worth of food, too.
Grace Engler Good job!! :-) My sister and her husband who still live in Michigan says they invested in a [gasoline] emergency generator that they store in a detached shed. They had lost all power for 8 days after a bad tornado, so it really came in handy with preserving their essentials. It pays to prepare for worst case scenario's. :-)
In N.Ireland our winters usually come in patterns e.g. mild, wet and windy for a few years then harsh, cold and snowy for a few years. But every year my mum and I stock the cupboards up with tins of food and we make homemade soup and stew then we freeze it because not only does it keep longer but the snow will make the stew and soup go off, we also get new cosy/winter socks, hats, gloves etc. And my dad is just like "can't wait for summer" and I'm like "no I like winter more" haha. I even got a big fluffy blanket yesterday, it has 2 deers in snow on it.
Mathew doty, I live in new haven connecticut and am currently on vacation in Clearwater Florida and around the city the license plates on the cars are mostly from new york and Ontario canada! I've seen thousands literally, it's so crazy!
I'd give anything for it to snow like that over here in the UK. Watch everyone freak out about how they can't get to their jobs, I would just go out and enjoy myself
I know. I'm in the UK as well and we've had no hint of cold weather yet. Send some of that snow here. It's distruptive, yes, but if you're smart and don't do anything stupid it's awesome.
Omg don't be silly snow like that will shut our country down and you know it ..We seriously won't cope Nope! Sorry to say NY but you can keep it.. Stay safe all
This area for some reason looks a lot like the Idylwood Apartments or near them. If it is, it's really close to where I used to live currently and we moved from the apartments into the house we've been in 5 years before "snowvember" all the way to current days. It's amazing looking back on these events. If only I was able to record videos and upload them, I 100% would've took videos of this, but I was only 12 at the time and didn't have anything to record videos with. Still though, I love watching old videos of this.
@@emdotudot I knew I recognized the area. I distinctly remembered the dumpster right near the tree line. 😆 If only I was uploading back then. I was only 12 and didn't have the equipment to record videos.
Yes, this was one of the worst storms we have had that I've lived in. Its been storm after storm! I am from the Tonawandas, where we don't get as much; right in between Lake Ontario and Erie. We in fact have another storm this weekend! Will it ever end?? lol. You guys got alot in Cheektowaga in this one!
Having lived through the killer winter's of 1977 and 1978, I know the challenges of dealing with this snow. For that reason, I moved to Tulsa,Oklahoma. Graduate school at UB placed me in the snowy vortex!!
I will travel to Buffalo on 11/25/14. Hope by that time the road is cleared. I am from Cleveland , Ohio. Even though snow is nothing new, but man you got a lot snow. Hope your guys take care each other's, take care old folks during these crazy days.
No bloody way!!! That's a serious amount of snow!!! That throws global warming strait in the gutter!. In britain where I come from, the last time we had snow like that was 1963. At least you yanks can cope with snow, in Britain we see like 3 inches of snow and people are like- i can't get to work, to soft in this country. It never stops me from getting eny where Rain hail sleet or snow it won't beat me, o e year we had a foot and a half of snow I think I was like the one in ten people that still managed to get out and about and to work lol! Great video mate I love it!!!!
Hmm. Seems you've got some we would normally get in Stockholm. Here, we are waiting for it, makes the dark days a bit brighter. Instead it's unusually warm for the season...
Anders Ericsson It's not the amount we received but more over the time frame in which it fell. Some areas of Buffalo, NY received 89 inches within a 36 hr period. What fell in the video was 36 inches within 10hrs.
Tim Carson IT depends Tim. The first day, not a soul reported. The second, most who were vital to the restoration basically should have reported to work.
Winter storms do happen every year in buffalo without a doubt, but we don't the 7ft of snow Iike in the video every year, that stuff happens once in every few years or so
Lol just standing outside having a long convo as if it's a bright sunny day. I'd stay inside and relax the whole week. That's why you should prepare before it hits... Not go out to a 7/11 in the middle of it
Haha sorry to criticize you. Interesting to see how much snow there was. I just find it funny how you guys started a conversation like that. Here in New York we would just nod our head to say what's up and run back inside to stay warm xD
I feel very sorry for the snow lovers east of the Rockies right now. New York, New York will even endure a whopping 73 tomorrow! While over here in Coeur D'alene Idaho it's only supposed to be 30, and we saw 7.4 inches fall the night before.
Keep snow shoes handy also wear bright orange clothing carry a light and water. Only go out if you need to. Star home and clear your roof first then your homes perimeter. Locate fire hydrants and clean them off just in case of a FIRE. By being prepared when there is a bad storm approaching you fair far better then UN prepared person
And that's in november
Exactly

***** Floods Dan, floods ma brother. Just wait !
This is really amazing. I'm about 300 miles away in New Jersey and we have absolutely no snow at all. Thanks for uploading this video. It's awesome!
Haptic Dribble Really appreciate that ! Little short but camera was getting a bit damp. TY for watching.
Thanks for giving the location and date. So many videos don't give either, so we have no idea of their location.

Greeting from Edmonton,Alberta,Canada! The amount of snow that we have had this month is peanuts compared to what you just got.
Brian Bingham Thanks for watching Brian ! Was a truly freak incident. The snow has subsided now. Thank you for your post ;] Much appreciated

I wish it snowed like this in every part of NY
As long as eight people didn't die like they did in Buffalo, I'd love that too.
Sam S Excellent point Sam !
So glad it missed us. You guys stay warm and I hope you are set in case Thursday is as bad.
When Norwegians and Canadians are awed by the volume of snow, you know it's bad. It looks like a VIP room at Studio 54 in 1980.
Jack Peer lol...Nice comment Jack ;] Some were saying 'normal winter day here in Canada.'
@@emdotudot Toronto never gets this much snow and it is close to Buffalo , A deep snow storm in Toronto is 6 inches

You are correct. This is at Idylwood Apartments. I will check out your channel. Keep up the good work and record those videos.

Good for you :) I love winter and much snow but in Hungary is this season getting warmer :(
OMG that's crazy. My thoughts and prayers are with all in the snow area.

erguy6319 Flooding is a concern. Please be safe traveling here when you do land.
True story. I live less than 10 miles from there. I got less than a foot of snow that day.
Stay warm! Be careful when it starts to melt!

Красота!!! Наши сибирские пейзажи!!! Для нас это норма!
WOW! Three things come to mind as I watch this video..... SNOWMOBILE, DRY FIREWOOD, and plenty of FOOD! Take care and be safe.
West Coast Roller I couldn't have said it any better !
New York, you make Canada proud surviving a storm like that.
It wasn't New York it was Buffalo
Buffalo, New York....
+Peter Walsh are you stupid or stupid. Buffalo is in New York.
Toronto is very close to Buffalo and never gets any where near this amount of Snow
Saw a storm like that in Toronto last year
I can't believe any stores would be open with all that snow. Wasn't there a level alert for the roads out?
You know the snow storm is bad, when parts of WNY come to a standstill. I remember that storm liked it just happened yesterday, I hated it
This is what my winter's are like every year. Sometimes I really hate being Canadian lol
Winter is stupid. I quit. I'm moving south.
Hmm. Seems you've got some we would normally get in Stockholm. Here, we are waiting for it, makes the dark days a bit brighter. Instead it's unusually warm for the season...

I used to live there , memories , cool video
I hope you guys up there have food stocked up or have a neighbor near by you can connect with to make sure everyone is fed and taken care of.
I know it's inconvenient and possibly dangerous and disruptive.... But I'm kinda thinking, quite childishly: "Woah cool! All that snow!"
I will never complain during winter time here in melbourne .. :)
5" on the ground in Canton, OH. :-)
Do people up north still have to go to work when it does that?
Tim Carson IT depends Tim. The first day, not a soul reported. The second, most who were vital to the restoration basically should have reported to work.
Did you make it to the store? Was it open?
The store was open authorgirlpetparent...lol Thanks for asking ;]
I know right right now I'm in Georgia we need some of that snow omg i will definetly not be going to school
Too much snow. this will be really bad. Good luck!

I didn't detect any criticism in your comment ;] The pizza guy derailed me unfortunately...lol
I would build a giant wall around the neighbors house lol
