Peanuts, created and illustrated by Charles M. Schulz, ran from October 2, 1950, to February 13, 2000. The strip stopped a day after its creator passed away of colon cancer. However, it continues around the world in syndication and reruns. In fact, by 1999, Peanuts was a part of 2600 newspapers across 75 countries and had already been translated into 21 languages.

The comic strip revolves around a group of children and though adults exist in the comics, they always occupy the sidelines and are never seen. The protagonist Charlie Brown is a young and underconfident boy who is often bullied by his friend Lucy. By February 2000, Peanuts had published 17,897 strips in total, making the comic strip the longest-running story told by a single person. More importantly, the strip and the merchandise inspired by it made Schulz a billionaire in his lifetime. In this video, some mind-blowing facts about Charles M Schulz's Peanuts. For instance, did you know that Charles Schulz modelled the character of Charlie Brown after himself or that Snoopy had seven siblings but the comic strips introduced the readers to only five? In this video, we share with you more interesting facts like these.

You left out the great story of how Schulz received an angry racist letter demanding that he not show African-American Franklin in school with white children. Schulz, resentful of this, made sure Franklin was ALWAYS seen in school with white children.

There was a short-lived character in the early years named Charlotte. She was so unpopular that Schulz dropped her as a character. Until recently, no strips featuring her were ever published in book form.

No matter what any one thinks about it, Peanuts is, in my opinion, one of the most abstract, important, underrated, and inherently derided comics in the history of the comic strip fandom.

Interesting that there were actually two "Pattys" in the strip over time! The first being the blonde girl that wore a plaid "ice cream cone" patterned dress and usually hung around with Violet. Then she seemed to be phased out and "Peppermint Patty" joined the cast, Charles Schultz telling that he got that name from a dish of candy in his home.

As he runs to kick the ball, unbeknownst to him, he slowly starts to rematerialize. Lucy sees this, pulls her usual stunt, and Charlie Brown realizes that all is back to normal.

Charlie Brown and Snoopy have both officially been to the Moon! The callsign for the Apollo 10 command module, chosen by the crew, was Charlie Brown, and the lunar module was Snoopy. At first, NASA was not in favor of these designations, but eventually relented, recognizing the public relations bonanza it would generate. Schulz initially was reluctant, since Charlie Brown couldn’t even fly a kite, and he was fearful of jinxing the mission. He did give his blessing, though, and produced some mission-related artwork.
The iconic communication caps all Apollo astronauts wore were nicknamed Snoopy caps, due to the resemblance they had to a certain beagle while wearing them.

There's a few factual errors in this video. Charles Schulz was not Charlie Brown. He specifically denied that in several interviews and stated that each character represents an aspect of his personality. He also made it clear that the strip was his creation and that he never implemented any suggestions into his strip, even warning people not to tell him suggestions if they ever wanted him to use them.

I heard that Apple bought the rights to the peanuts holiday special I can't remember if it's the Halloween or the Thanksgiving one but I heard Apple bought the rights and that was just so that they could get people to have to pay to be that special on their cell phone at work and I'm not trying to be mean to anyone who has Apple I'm just saying I just don't agree with the company for doing that.

If Schulz hated the name Peanuts why couldn’t he have called the strip Charlie Brown or Charlie Brown & Snoopy or Charlie Brown & Friends?

He would have, but it was the distributing syndicate (United Features) that actually owned it, as the "price" for agreeing to syndicate it nationally, a standard arrangement, and decided on the name THEY liked, "Peanuts".

I knew Charles M. Schulz modeled our loveable loser on himself. Knew he hated the "Peanuts" name. I knew about the uproar over Franklin. I knew about Marcie's eyes. In one cartoon(don't remember which), Marcie raises her glasses(like they were sunglasses) to wink at Charlie Brown.

The comedy style seemed to get overused from anything after the 1960s . And I don’t really like anything from the peanuts after that time except for one cartoon that came out in 2006. c

This is sort of a 'downer'. I think I didn't like that Lucy was always telling Charlie Brown how dumb or stupid he was. I never wanted my children to feel this way. Other than that - I really loved Peanuts and especially Snoopy.

Apparently so. Sad, really. But the good news is, (I read this) that Charles M. Schulz didn't care about the fuss and bad mail and kept Franklin.

Repent and put your trust in Jesus.
We've all sinned and deserve Hell.
Jesus died on the cross and was resurrected, defeating death and sin.
Since we broke the law, Jesus paid our fine. Since he paid it, we can be let go.
We must repent and trust in Jesus to be saved.
