  • Colourful, time-only watches have become the new hot thing, as their mechanical simplicity offers a great canvas for some funky dial tones. The latest in line is a quartet of TAG Heuer Carrera Date models, sized at a unisex-friendly 36mm diameter and some subtle changes that make for a hugely improved on-wrist feel over its Three Hands collection predecessor. There’s an upgrade in the movement department too, with the collection now sporting the ETA 2892-based Calibre 7.
    The sunburst silver, which is the lightest of the new hues, is combined with golden ingot indices, hands, and appliques to add warmth. Although uncomplicated and with only a date window at 6 o'clock as the only complication, this watch has lots of depth thanks to the faceted indices, attached TAG Heuer shield, and steep rehaut, which is also separated from the dial by a reflecting ring for added visual interest.

    All these "Too small for me" commenters can just go purchase the billion other watches out there that will fit. As a female with a 14cm wrist that does not like "girly" styles or diamonds on a watch, and wants an automatic movement, this is a great option. I love that it's stylistically simple, with some great attention to detail. The overall aesthetic actually reminds me a bit of Grand Seiko, but in a size I can handle. Love it. I only wish the bracelet had micro-adjustments. Nevertheless, I think a green one may be in my future. Thank you for the great video!

    I recently bought the blue version on a cruise ship and the dial is very pretty. In direct sunlight it becomes very flashy! It's a great watch for people with smaller wrists

    Maybe I don't know my Heuer history, but I'm seeing a little Grand Seiko in these. Will love to see them head to head with the new Black Bay 36.

    After owning one of these watches for 3 months (blue with rose gold), I can state with confidence that they are more comfortable to wear than the larger Carrera's, the dials look more elevated, and the movements are accurate. I lose maybe 3 seconds a day at most after wearing it for a week, which is essentially COSC level.

    This is quite a nice release by TAG. I also love that they don't just use a SW200 base. The higher base movement with 56 hours of power reserve is plenty for me. My question is will they move the 39mm models to that movement? Please?

    On the fence with these. Cannot decide if the gold indices and accents suit the watch. The pink model is the more appealing model to me, maybe because of the silver accents? Great Video.

    I just ordered the pink dial variant! I'm a guy with a 6.5" wrist and I think it will fit perfectly. Almost all my watches are 36 mm these days. In the last 20 years or so, watch sizes for men have grown way out of proportion, but thankfully the industry seems to be moving away from that now, with a slew of great releases like this TAG Heuer Carrera. The norm for an all dial watch used to be 40-41 mm only a few years ago. Ridiculous! A thin midsize watch is simply superior when it comes to wearing comfort. Who wants to wear a measuring cup on the wrist all day?

    The new 'glassbox' Carrera looks great and feels like a step forward from the original racing watch, a watch and a name with genuine legacy. This is basically a Rolex OP competitor, I wish they called it a different name. Most comments here are positive so it may end up being a good seller 🤞

  • @OriginalBreezy

    Never discount an ETA movement. The most accurate watch I own has a 12 year old eta 28-24. Last serviced/regulated 4 years ago and still beating cosc.

  • @thegorn
    @thegorn Год назад +12

    Nothing wrong with "top grade" Sellita and ETA movements. If you have multiple watches then a longer power reserve just means the gears wear out quicker from turning for longer in the watch box when you're not wearing it. I really think TH is moving in the right direction and on the cusp of re-establishing themselves as force to be reckoned with. If they can get those 3-hand Carreras at 39mm with an on-the-fly micro-adjustment they'd hit it out of the park as a perfect GADA / one-watch piece. Add some COSC and I'd take that over a Rolex OP or DJ any day of the week.

    • @lamentate07
      @lamentate07 Месяц назад

      I'd prefer a slightly bigger size too, but 36mm wears well, and my watch has been running for 10 days and has lost maybe 19-20 seconds at most, which is basically 2 seconds a day. That is COSC level.

    I saw these in the local TAG boutique - really good looking and wearing watches. A 2892 based movement is pretty good for the price, I'd be disappointed in a 2824 movement.

  • @uniqname4sure
    @uniqname4sure Год назад +2

    36/10mm is great, 50mm WR is fine. But why on earth gold indices - is it too difficult to stick with classic formula? It's like companies always try to screw something in otherwise great package.

  • @Nextman916

    Water resistance is 50m not 100m, actually a big difference!

  • @tarasmathers7423
    @tarasmathers7423 Год назад +2

    I honestly don't know which execution I like best. Oddly enough (for me at least) I think maybe the green. It's quite subtle, and desaturate in tone. The gold accents pair well. My only complaint is the 50m water-resistance.....why?!?! Why not 100m?!?! I really wish brand would do away w/ this silly traditional non-sense of pairing hermeticity levels, w/ watch utility designation. This is a stainless steel sports watch.....why not match it's competitors, in terms of specs?!?! Other than that, I love the release. Cheers T&T.....🥃

    I’ve never been a fan of tag to be honest.
    Now it could be the fact that you have shot and presented these in the best possible way or perhaps the watches actually are as nice as they look in your video. Maybe a bit of both.
    These look fabulous. The light play is superb. The finishing looks crisp, refined and elegant.
    I could never pull off the pink even though I like it, but i love all the other colours probably green the most.
    Only downside for me is the movement which is fine but doesn’t match the rest of the watch.
    Lovely video as always thank you

      These are for sure really well made pieces. But yes the quality of the shots def does make it a lot easier to asses the quality offer from Tag in this sense. Size and color. Bang on point for so many wrists. Thanks for the comment!
