- I have the pleasure to be one of the beta testers for Centroids new Acorn 6 CNC control and software. It will be released this week.
All of my lathe videos with live tooling and Y-axis were driven by Acorn 6
Since I changed my control to Acorn6 for testing, not one day I could not make parts and they are very fast responding on feedback with new software builds.
For me it is a very fast and reliable CNC for DIY or retrofit mill turning lathes, or mills with up to 6 axis. Steprate ist up to 1250 khz and even faster addonboard will be possible with fieldbus connection.
C-axis function with all needed safety features is build in, also if you drive the C-axis with a second servo and clutch.
Sorry for only machining a simple part today, but thats what I need to build a base for a centric vise for the 4th axis on my mill...
Finally the long waited 6 axes. It will be a must have for diy rooter or even 5 axes machines.
I had hoped this day would come! Interesting!
WOW! That is pretty awesome
I love it! 👌🏻
Amazing!
einfach nur geil! :)
Wow
Noooooo, I just bought the acorn 2 weeks ago!!!... is the 5-axis going to be simultaneous with TCP, or just 3+2 I bet the 5-axis CNC12 software will be more than the 4-axis pro for $150?
On board are two fast FPGA chips, should be no problem to run 6 axis simultaneous, but I tested only with 4 simultaneous and not sure what would be in which software option. But price tag will be well above Acorn. Also good working 5 axis CAM is not cheap since fusion put it in an extension ;)
Is there any difference from original acorn besides extra axis?
yes, there are also 3 encoder inputs and 2 spindle outputs +-10V, BCD Output for toolchanger, SCOUT port for Expansions, faster possible step rate, Optional SCOUT CNC Operator Control Panel/Pendant, ATC installation with Wizard ect...

Can it do rigid tapping?
I seriously don't like their DOS type software.
Sure rigid tapping is easy. Only the blue color is like DOS, software is Win10/11 ;)
Do you have to have drivers for the additional mpg wheels??
nope no extra line drivers needed for the manual MPG, it is just an ordinary chinese MPG with ABZ+- and +-5V for 30 bucks
@@TheSuntravel sweet thats what I've been waiting for ...so how do u like it???
@@michaelbrocato7535 I love it, because like other Centroind CNCs it works reliable. You can concentrate 100% on the parts, the CNC is doing what you tells her to do perfect and fast.
Had to think if this were an April fools joke or Chinese spam at first. Did centroid give you a sense of how close these are to selling yet?
Should be this week on there website, it is no longer a ghost :D
Not on their website yet. Ready to buy.
@@justinsturgeon1 little late on the draw for that reply
@@justinsturgeon1 Sure, it is here: www.centroidcnc.com/centroid_diy/acornsix_cnc_controller.html
Acorn 6……. Whaaaaat?
Nooo ,why pay $999 For something that doesn't support EtherCAT drivers 😒😑.
Where did you get the price. I didn't see it on their website yet.
@@justinsturgeon1 yes pric is on their website
Maybe because you do not use EtherCAT drives 🤣
@@TheSuntravel Mach4 has EtherCAT supported BOB ,nice .
@@seimela I know the one from Vital.... and the cost for extra expansions to have similar features than Acorn6, but you must run unreliable mach4..
