Ive got these as my third pair of IEMs, my first pair was the KZ ZSTs, those had a DEEP V sound, and VERY peaky with the treble, the second pair I got was the KZ ZSN Pro Xs, those were A DREAM, they sound GREAT, slightly more balanced then the ZSTs, but the Bass and Vocals have much more detail and the treble is still sharp, but clear and not as peaky as the ZSTs, the pair I go the last was these, the KZ EDCs, I got them for sleep use and outdoor use since they were so inexpensive, I was honestly intrigued bt the sound of the EDCs, it was so mellow, total opposite of the ZSTs and the ZSN Pro Xs, those were V sounding and Dynamic, these EDCs are SO Neutral (in KZ standards) and so mellow, acoustics and Jazz sound wonderful with the EDCs, and since they emphasise on the Mids where voices are usually at the frequency, audiobooks are actually the best application for these IEMs, and fittingly I use them to listen to my bedtime creepypastas. So, to wrap up my thoughts, the ZST and the ZSN Pro Xs are AMAZING IEMs, especially for dynamic applications and content, for Rock n Roll, Metal, EDM and the like, while the EDCs are better suited for more mellow applications, like acoustic music, smooth Jazz and voices, like audiobooks.

Mate would a simple iPhone 5s run this optimally? I've read and watched a lot of reviews (including yours) and a lot of the mention about the EDC needing a bit more power to run.

I agree, EDC is impressive for its price.
I had the ZSN Pro (not the Pro X) and it's not so good for metal, the treble hurtin my ears omg
Honestly just a great cheap iem to add to your collection with as expensive as audio equipment gets this is priced pretty amazingly
These will make great stocking stuffers for next Christmas.
I've this kz edc and it's a good relaxed sounding cheap iem.

This or KBEAR KS2. But if you want a better overall sound, the CCA CRA is crazy good.
How would you compare it to KZ own EDX? Should cost around $8 with a detachable cable.
I haven't tried edx. From what I've heard, edx will have a more popular tuning.

They're okay for anything but you'd be much better off buying CCA CRA or moondrop Chu etc

Yes, although the 4kHz peak might be a bit forward for upper register piano notes. I would not recommend using EDC straight out of a phone either.

It depends on the quality of the recording and how loud you listen to your music. But a 5s probably won't cut it..
