- There's no music because Lena Raine has started making content ID claims on the music for the game. I tried recording the music at the softest setting - 1/10 - so you could barely hear it, and it still got flagged for content ID. So I removed the music. Sadly, any further Celeste videos will have to be made with no music.

Creative Ghost I think it’s just because the classic game had dashes, so they had to include dashing in the gameplay.

To anyone who is wondering, you can still get the golden winged strawberry even if you dash. You just need to die in the same room that you dashed in before leaving the room. This doesn't help you beat the level without dashing, but it does mean that you don't need to restart in case you ever accidentally dash.

@@eriklarsen6790 No, you can get hit. The golden, winged strawberry in 1-A is different to all the other golden strawberries. Getting the WG strawberry without dying would be hell due to how precise some of the tricks are.

You'll learn more about it eventually, though I would definitely recommend not looking up too much about hidden tech or secrets until you start to hit a roadblock. I generally find it more fun to do that on my first run of games. Well, this is assuming you haven't already either completed your first run or looked stuff up.

After thinking about it for a while, it's actually extremely clever of the level designers to make it so that the easiest level in the game could turn into one of the hardest ones (to the point that you need to know advanced movements to complete it) just by removing one critical feature.
if im not mistaken, speedrunners and players discovered that it was possible to beat it dashless before the devs noticed

Honestly that's probably the right choice. There is no reason to get it. There's no achievement or special ending associated with it. I wouldn't recommend getting this strawberry for the average player.

Im currently done with all crystal hearts, climbed celeste mountain, and done with 5 b-sides. Got 1-up without assist mode (wasnt all that hard tbh), and still got alot more to go...

I wanted to say - to get that jump you need to be holding climb, otherwise you will bounce away, back where you jumped from. That made all the difference for me.

Took 3 hours last night to get this strawberry last night, got to the end of the chapter, and... It wasn't there. Must've accidentally hit dash at some point and not noticed.
Unbound the key and tried again this morning-only took 50 mins, and I got the strawberry! Feeling much more confident now. 🍓
I surprisingly spent less time on this strawberry than I expected. The spike jumping is by no means easy, but I had a much harder time training myself to wall jump on one wall without draining stamina. My instinct is to hold towards the wall, and it took a lot of failure to get myself into a rhythm that didn't include death. Once you get the hang of it though, it's a pretty neat tool
Im used to jumping up walls like that since ive been trying to ever since i heard you could jump up walls infinitely, the spike jumps however seem incredibly difficult to me, but i havent tried em yet so i dont know

i did it. it did take my death count of level one from 100 to 831 though. was it worth it? absolutely fucking not. but i enjoyed it anyway.

If you are referring to throughout all the game to chapter 7. Maybe, maybe. With chapter as well. Also a maybe. But with chapter 9 on top of it. No. Not at all. Including the b sides and c sides. On top of that. Even more of a no. So I must ask. Where do you draw the line. Initial completion or absolute completion

I did this today. It took a while (and increased my Total Death count on Chapter 1 from 50 to 680 or so), but I really feel like it helped me fet a better feeling for the game's controls. I feel confident enough to do all the C-Side levels now but I am NOT going for any Golden Strawberries. I have the patience to retry a single room as many times as needed but I am NOT restarting the entire chapter everytime I die. I have neither the time nor skill to do that, especially not on the B-Side or C-Side levels.
I feel exactly the same way.
The thing is, C-Side levels are the easiest to get the golden strawberries due to the fact that these levels only have 3 screens. Once you know what you need to do there it's just brain muscles and some sort of good reaction time to collect them.
The other levels (specially the B-Sides) are way harder because there are many more screens than in C-Side levels where you can die.
I've gotten the golden strawberries for all 3 versions of chapter 1 and for the A and C sides of chapter 2. I can definitely say that B sides are worse than C sides for golden strawberries

I was almost sick several times during that run. That was amazing. Well done.
The room at 2:08 can die in a fire. First you have to jump from the farthest right wall onto the wall with the platform, then jump from the platform to a corner with spikes on both sides, and immediately jump to safety, then after all that, do a very precise wall jump on a one block wall with a ton of spikes around it… all in the same room and checkpoint.

YES, I DID IT! Nearly quit during the 2:08 room, but eventually figured out exactly how to jump off the side of the spikes. Was really nice slowly getting bit by bit down, and felt so good reaching the top!

yay I did it! watching these playthroughs I never thought I'd be able to. but then I learned it's not 'golden' in the sense of zero deaths. Gave me hope but was *still* hard.
Man, I literally could not do the last room and relied on “Hiccups” to get by.

Oh man, I made it today, this video really helped me in some places, especially this technique that allows you to move up on a wall without grabbing, this made the last jump much easier, so thank you for making it. 1:30:00 in a single attempt and over 2 hours and 1k deaths with assist practice
How do you climb without grabbing ? i didn't understood :/
@@JulesB418 neutral wall jumps. if you wall jump without grabbing or holding any directional input, you don’t jump far from the wall and it uses no stamina. then, hold a direction to go back to the wall, and you should end up higher than where you started. repeat until you climb the wall without using stamina

Prox76321 It’s not a glitch, it’s an intended mechanic just like hyperdashing and many others you learn through the C sides and last B sides. (Lvl is nos beatable without dashing without this mechanic, why would there be a gold strawberry at the end if it wasn’t intended)

What is the setup for the jup to the pull at 3:03? I've tried every pixel jumping into , out of, a d neutral and I've only gotten it once and I'm pretty sure it was a fluke.

No, you can die as many times as needed. I just edited out my deaths to make it easier to find what you need if you're looking for a specific place in the video.

TheNinthAlly yes, with a golden strawberry, the golden winged doesn't show up till the end
If you’re like me and are still having problems, even with assist mode, beat the game and unlock variant mode. Variant mode has assist options and more, one of them is hiccups. Hiccups can be used to stall in the air for extra distance. But be careful, hiccups will nock you off a wall, just make sure you are not holding away when that happens
The cuts on the footage are extremely smooth.
I'd suggest putting a disclaimer on the description so that people know you weren't trying to trick them; if I didn't spot your comment, I'd think this was an attempt to trick people.

How do you jump off the spikes like that and climb when you run out of stamina?
There is a hitbox just above the spikes at the corners. You just have to press jump just as you touch that hitbox and you'll jump off of the spikes.

After resetting by mystake the chapter at the last room, and having to do everything again, i've finally got that strawberry, thank you!
Btw i don't think having already done c-side helps a lot since i struggled a lot probably as much as if I hadn't beat these before ... It realy is a whole different challenge

I'm having a lot of issues with that exact part.
There's a special jumping technique that doesn't use any stamina that you can use to climb up walls. It's covered in my advanced movement guide around the halfway point.

1:40 I literally just don't jump as far as you. Same moves, perfect spike jump, and I go straight to the spikes.

I didn't do the golden strawberries myself. The one for 2B seems doable, but I didn't go for it. I did make a video that gives tips on getting this winged gold strawberry, though.

Thank you for replying! I did watch that video and it helped, however I think I shall just take a break for now. I have been finishing the C-Sides and I just have the last two to do now! As for the golden strawberries, I always like to fully finish every game I get, but Celeste may just be an exception due to its very high difficulty for some of the golden strawberries. Thank you for making videos about this game, they are all very good and this game is one of my top 10 video games of all time. I'm sorry that you have to remove music from your videos though, that copyright stuff is really over-the-top sometimes. @@sirtetris Have you tried the challenge? You die A LOT. And since you don't have to start from the beginning each time, it's not that hard to get an attempt in every 10 seconds.

Can you please explain 0:56 that initial jump? where do i land?
You have to jump off of the hit box at the top corner of the spikes while moving to get over the row of spikes, then you have to grab the wall on the other side. The you drop down to the spikes below, but you grab the wall on the side of the spikes so you don't fall into the spikes at the bottom. Climb as high as you can, then do another jump up and kick off of the hit box above the spikes again to get enough distance to reach the wood platform.

I'm having some serious trouble with the room at 2:48. I can jump to the right-side wall, but I have no idea how the hell you do that little shimmy-hop up the wall at 2:54. Every time I try, I jump too far from the wall to get any vertical height when I land back on the wall.

Can't pull off jumping to the crumbling platform at 1:39. What are the specifics of that jump?
I've tried very hard to recreate the exact circumstances by turning on slowmo and using frame advance on your video, but I can still only get to the crumbling platform once every 30 or so attempts. is it just that inconsistent?

I don't know. That jump isn't a common problem for people. I assume you're doing it like I do it in the video, where you jump up first to kick off the top of the spikes for extra range? Other than that, it's just a matter of timing, timing the button press so you're jumping off the highest possible spot on the corner of the spikes.

No, I think you have to do the whole thing in one sitting.

No. The golden strawberry is available immediately. You could potentially get it on your first run through the Forsaken City right at the beginning of the game.

Make sure you're familiar with the wall jump climbing technique that allows you to climb walls without using stamina. It's much easier if you can get up to the block with enough stamina to position yourself and have a few tries at it.

3:12 I probably fell over 5 times there it was so frustrating to always fail the last jump and it always took me 5-10 mins to get back there because of the super precise wall jump you have to do to get on the traffic light thing

No, it's edited. I made the video for a guide to show how to do it, and I didn't want people to have to watch through me dying 50 times to see how to get through a section.
It kinda sucks though that you had to remove the music because of RUclips broken copyright system, leaving the gameplay footage in total silence apart from sound effects.

holy fucking shit I was already at my limit when I finished b-sides and opened the golden strawberries. And now Im struggling to get at least 1 golden strawberry. Finding this video showed me this is out of my league. This game is pure evil
I would not recommend anybody go for the golden strawberries. If you got through the B-Sides, you can do the C-Sides. The C-Sides are much easier than the B-Sides, simply because they're short. Each C-Side consists of only 3 rooms. The first 2 rooms are typically very short and fairly easy, and the last room is long and difficult. That's of course only if you're interested in more. It's totally understandable if you've had enough of the game by the time you're done with the B-Sides. Getting through all the B-Sides is quite an accomplishment.
yeah, I actually finished everything except for the golden strawberries. I got A-B-C sides golden from the first 2 levels and today I finally got all 3 from the resort D: I actually dont care much about achievements, I just do that to show myself I actually can, and to show off to my friends :P

Well, if it makes you feel any better, I was pretty much crippled for a week after I got done with this game. I couldn't move my hands properly. I kept dropping and breaking plates and glasses, because I couldn't get my hands to do what I wanted.

How do you do that jump at 0:56 I keep dying on the spikes ;(
Basically, the idea is that you grab onto the very corner of the wall, below the spikes, without actually touching the spikes’ hitbox. Then you immediately kick off the wall, holding forward so you can either land on the other side of the spikes, or on safe ground. It’s pretty precise, though... I got through about a fourth of the level before giving up and going back to Farewell’s last screen!

That's a bit mean from Lena... I wonder why she's doing it.
She released a twitter post recently that said that she didn't realize that setting up certain services was going to start automatically flagging let's play videos and the like. She says she's attempting to remove some of these things, but actually had to remove her music from certain online services for a bit to correct the problem. I've started putting soft music in some of my newer videos again, and they haven't been getting flagged, so hopefully the problem is resolved. I'll try a video will full volume music sometime today and we'll see.
