    Sometimes things go smooth, and sometimes they don't. Glad it all worked out in the end. Take care and have a great week, you two!

      Oh and also what I didn't show or mention in the video is at one point I had a flat. Luckily the front so I didn't have to deal with the rear derailleur situation. Thanks John. Hope your week is off to a good start.

    I'm glad you saved that old frame and got it rolling again. I like old stuff too.

    I love your channel, most bicycle related youtube channels all show or have these overly expensive bikes that most people cant afford. Your channel shows anyone can have fun on any bike regardless of the price. Thank you for that.

      Thanks Timothy! That's really what I hope people get from our videos. You don't have to ride expensive bikes or ride fast or far to utilize and enjoy the bicycle.

    Hey Randy. I'd like to see a multi day tour on one of your rebuilds someday. Show others one doesn't need a new snazzy bike to tour on.

      @Locojoe  2 месяца назад

      Idk about a multi day tour but next time I ride out to the lake here to camp I make take one of my rebuilds. Previously I’ve always taken my newer gravel bike. We’ve only done a multi day tour once, years ago and we stayed in hotels and my parents shuttled our baggage.

    I dig it. I might have to try one of those seats. Finding the right one is the toughest part of bicycles by far.

      I'm guessing long time durability may be an issue although I haven't has any problems yet. Can't recall how long I've had the first one and no way of knowing how many miles on it. For me though with so many bikes I think it's a good option. Thanks for watching Josh.

    My Blue Graveler Klunker is a mostly parts bin bike too. Started out as an 80s Nishiki road bike

      Sounds cool. I think the parts bin builds are the most fun. I guess that’s pretty much all I do.

    Wow! Tough rebuild but a great finished machine. I'm jealous. Got two of those LATA saddles. Very comfortable for the price. Put one on my new BMX WANNA-BE bike I recently finished.

      Thanks Roger. Have a hunch ticks are going to be bad this year. I've already had one bite way back in early march. Nova had one a couple days ago. What about up your way?

    Haysville or just southside ICT? I've been wanting to build old bike in different styles like you and other channels do. It's cool you're local to me.

    • @Locojoe

      Haysville. I've been tinkering with these old bikes for many years now. Big swap meet with a lot of vintage stuff here in Haysville each year but it's already passed. Will be back next April. Bike Walk Wichita's recycle center on N St Francis is a good place for bikes and parts.

    Hi Joe,
    Love your content! Do you mind sharing with us the cost for that bike from the swap meet?

    • @Locojoe
      @Locojoe  3 месяца назад

      Thanks Zack! It's hard to say the cost. It wasn't marked with an asking price and I bought it as a package deal from a friend which included a couple wheels and a cassette.. Paid $40 in total. IDK if you seen the first build video but the frame is in rough shape with dents and a smashed seat stay.

    how hard would it be to convert this bike from a single speed to a higher geared bike with more like a 12 speed with a grannie gear for hills ?

    • @Locojoe
      @Locojoe  3 месяца назад +1

      I'm not really sure but I assume the hub would be wider requiring the rear triangle to be spread even more than I already did. Not sure how much wider it could be spread though without causing some kind of issue. I've never dealt with anything above 7 speed on these old bikes.

    • @philiprayner
      @philiprayner 3 месяца назад +1

      @@Locojoe I was thinking more along the lines of taking the seven speed bike and adding a front deraileur and maybe a 2 or three by front crank

    • @Locojoe
      @Locojoe  3 месяца назад +1

      @@philiprayner Ahh ok. Yeah that should be totally doable.I've never put a front derailleur on one of these old frames before. Maybe someday I will give that a try.
