    One would think with Crescent City's past experience with a tsunami that those who've come down to the docks would take the warnings more seriously,there's nothing you can do about the boats at this point nor should you except to evacuate to higher ground on the chance that the tsunami surge gets higher which can happen,true a tsunami loses some of its power when crossing an ocean but if the Japan quake had been a higher magnitude like 9.2 or more this situation could have gotten much more dangerous and the possibility of lives lost due to irresponsibility.

    • @mikepowell8611

      Nah, we had plenty of warning and time for it to dissipate. Now we have a major fault right off the coast. That has a major slip and CC will be wiped out. We've had truely monsterous tsunami in the area before and it'll happen again.

    The 1964 tsunami was far worse. It hit at night, and no one had any real knowledge of the phenomenon. The first wave tore things up, but everyone thought that there was only one wave. Many came down to the harbor as fast as they could after that first wave to inspect the damage. Unfortunately, the second wave was much larger. The third was less, but by then, many who had rushed to the harbor died. Others were swept away when the first and part of the second floor of the Surf Hotel was inundated. The wave destroyed everything in the business district near the ocean.

      @magellan6108 5 лет назад +3

      Jeff van wieren As I recall the stories, the bar where some people were swept away was the first floor of the Surf Hotel, but undoubtedly, there was more than one bar and certainly some of these were close to the shoreline. So, what you are saying could very easily be true. A friend of my father was at the Surf that evening. He survived while others did not.

      Andre Tucker not sure what you saying, but my point is that between the 2011 and the 1964 tsunamis in Crescent City, the 64 tsunami was worse. Overall, the Japanese version of the 2011 tsunami made Crescent City's look like kids play.

    At 1:23 the boat with the long ugly box built on the deck was for sale and the guy wanted $13,00 for it. I told him he would have too pay me $10,000 juts to take it off his hands. There was a lot of derelict dead boats in that harbor. Some of them sit on the ground, too expensive to repair, too costly to put in the dumps.

    مما يتسبب بخسائر مادية جسيمة وهائلة تقدر بتريليونات الدولارات
    وهذا غيظ من فيض وهذا بعض ما يجري في امريكا
