The opening comments about Taormina being a one-day stop-off for cruises is totally wrong (people have been coming here for long-stays for centuries, and it has a glut of classy five star luxury hotels).
The suggestion that its popularity has anything whatsoever to do with The White Lotus is also wrong; Series 1 in Hawaii and Series 2 in Taormina were both chosen specifically because both were established elite holiday destinations hugely popular with tourists from around the world.
