this video makes me miss the aughts, miss parties, miss all of it-- groups fall apart, musicians settle down and stop letting dozens of drunks into their houses because they have kids, everyone around me isn't old but acts old the last 7y or so. i get it.
it's hard to find the right words for how much i like this version of 2080! it's not only the sound, it's also the interaction of the band and the crowd and it's an increibily joyfull atmosphere. look at the faces in this video! it really makes me happy to see how happy everybody is!
This is probably the 50th time I've watched this since it was posted. It's bizarre to think how rare it is to find a band that will even admit to pursuing something joyful. I think Pitchfork deducts 2 points just for mentioning the word. When they first break out in harmony, I still feel like I'm getting hit in the stomach it's so good. This restores my faith in people. I rarely gush like this. I'm actually more of an electronic music head.
Was I the only one ready to cry when they pulled back to reveal everyone in the room? My friend Ellen and I both got the emotion, and we can't figure out why. So beautiful and emotional.
I just found out today they broke up some months back, truly heart broken and shedding some tears. This performance/ video made me fall in love with them and get me through some hard times. Thank you for the memories.
The thing I like about "Tightrope" is how versatile the melody is- the versions in this video, the live video from "Dark Was The Night," and the recorded version are all so different, yet recognizably the same. Yeasayer, despite being heavily electronic in their recordings, displays such a high level of musicianship in their live performances.
I want all of their songs in acoustic form, it definitely shows the passion they have for music. And I love how they use things around them to make music. I just love them.
This seems like a perfect random night! I can honestly say I have had only 1 experience like this ... makes my toes tingle with nostalgia. These guys are on another level. Cant wait to see them on Saturday in Atlanta.
definitely one of my fav Blogotheque videos out there. it just looks like so much fun being there. definitely makes me feel like i'd want to be there, jamming with them aand.... yeah!
this kinda reminds me of MGMT's "Time to Pretend". these guys are living my dream- going around the world and playing beautiful music with beautiful people
the first time i saw this video i was like 14 - 15 years old, cant believe so many years have passed. Im so glad today i found this video it brings me so many memories... feels like destiny (,:
This is one of those things where, if you were there to feel it, you'd be damn moved to tears. Yeasayer rocks. They know how to pull in a crowd and they harmonize like nobody's business. That bit where they're told to keep it down is just too precious!
I saw them live in chicago december 30th 2010 their show before the new years show. needless to say it was fantastic, we were some of first people thru the door, i was about 4 rows back from the front of the stage right in the middle. one of the best shows i've ever been to!
spell-binding. i wish i was there SO badly. so glad this is on youtube though, doesn't matter that i wasn't there because i can still experience the magic. the backwards montage as well. wow. lovely.
Wish I could travel back 10 years ago to that apartment in France and sing along to 2080 like a big dumb idiot. Also I'm in love with the woman in the butterfly shirt.
Je suis toujours impressionnée par la bonne humeur qu'ils arrivent à susciter et créer autour d'eux!! Vous avez l'air d'avoir passé un super moment, j'aurais aimé être là!

It’s a New Year/ I’m glad to be here/ It’s a fresh spring/ So let’s sing.
@allthenectar I totally agree, creating and sharing music for the sake of their love, passion and fun for it! This is why I really appreciate bands like this!
Have you ever had a song stuck in your head but you couldnt remember its name or the artist? All you could remember was a certain part of the song? Yeah, this song's beginning of the chorus was stuck in my head for months. I just found this, and had the biggest realization of my life. lol
i just wanna say that Yeasayer, your music is being heard over here in the philippines. and im one of the filipinos that adore your band and the music you make.

Papi Chulo P “Pickle the pain”
I have a video like that too, my brother was murdered. This isn’t his video, but I’m glad to be watching this In honor of yours
Your brother obviously had great musical taste... I'm assuming he lived a noteworthy life. Any cool stories?
Still one of the best videos on youtube

Sitting on my couch, watching this thinking exactly the same thing

Incredible that the one of the best videos on RUclips has been around for 13 years and still not over 1 million views.
That actually blows my mind, this video is iconic in my heart.

Time for the 51th time, 14 years after
Was I the only one ready to cry when they pulled back to reveal everyone in the room? My friend Ellen and I both got the emotion, and we can't figure out why. So beautiful and emotional.
wait were you actually on this video ???
I miss this 2006-2010 vibe so much
I just found out today they broke up some months back, truly heart broken and shedding some tears. This performance/ video made me fall in love with them and get me through some hard times. Thank you for the memories.
Oof would've liked to be able to see them live
10 years later this still brings tears in my eyes
Almost 14 years later and here we are.
You know you're in a kickass band when you can accidentally lock all your instruments in the van and still play a great show
what a beautiful thing adding the audience to the show
I love how you don't know there's all those people back there, and then they just pop up and you're like OH MY GOD and it just makes it intoxicating!
So tell me how all they had was a piano and yet they still sound as amazing as their recorded tracks!
Saw this years ago, and it's still my favourite video on youtube.
My heart keeps taking me back to this place, time and feeling...
im here again

I've watched this video countless times now, and it never gets old. Yeasayer is my favorite band and this is just one prime example of why that is.
this is an important video for me.
This seems like a perfect random night! I can honestly say I have had only 1 experience like this ... makes my toes tingle with nostalgia. These guys are on another level. Cant wait to see them on Saturday in Atlanta.

I bought this album when it came out. Loved it. I have never seen this video until now. I will come back to this always. Best thing ever.
I almost cried from joy when "the choir" started "yeah yeah".
@indiefolker I've listened to this for about 2.000 times in the last year. Can't stop, won't stop.
just when i thought it was over and couldn't get any better, it does.
Going to see them in June in Toronto! Couldn't be more excited.
HOLY MOLY. I really had to laugh out loud when they all sang and it gave me goosebumps.
I saw them live in chicago december 30th 2010 their show before the new years show. needless to say it was fantastic, we were some of first people thru the door, i was about 4 rows back from the front of the stage right in the middle. one of the best shows i've ever been to!
Man, that's something else. Possibly the best Takeaway Show ever. Nice work, folks.
You know you're good when you make hitting keys against a beer glass sound like a valid percussion instrument
i am so thankful that things such as this happen
I am on a BLOGOTHEQUE trip tonight! This is one of my TOP TOP fave videos on RUclips!
This version of "tightrope" is absolutely amazing. The piano is so beautiful.
this is just great. it's so nice to just see "down for anything" attitudes on musicians. very inspiring.
Watch this once a week. Top 5 video on RUclips

The song in the background that it doesn't really show them singing is "No Need to Worry." The first song they sing of course is "2080".
