this was by far the simplest diy for pockets ive ever seen. i love the diys on this channel becuase theyre always very easy to follow for projects that would otherwise seem overwhelming

  • @krea3732

I just finished mine and I am so happy with how it turned out. It was quite easy, even though the pocktes were a pain in the ass, but the cape itself is just awesome! I added a little button on the top, to make it a little more secure and I didn't even buy some wool, I just used a blanket I found (this may be interesting for people on a budget).
Thank you for the diy, Wendy, you're awesome!

Made a wool cape and got to wear it for the first time on last weekend's Chicago roadtrip. Skip the pockets if you want this to be much easier. Happy watching, happy sewing, happy travels, happy Thanksgiving! For the Americans ;)

    Hey Wendy,
This is the best cape/poncho online so far, and you uploaded this a year ago! I have made this cape twice now, and I have 3 tips for future seamstresses attempting this: 1) add lining to the scarf piece 2) internal/concealed pockets were more useful and easier than external slit pockets 3) double-fold hem is better with wool coating fabric.

I love the way you explained everything. I'm going to give it a try, but make it reversible and use fleece instead of wool. Wish me luck! BTW I always thought: Capes buttoned, tied or snapped at the neck and did go below the waist, and did not have pockets. Cloaks were below the knee or to the ankle, again no pockets. Ponchos were put on over the head, did not open all the way in the front and had a "pouch" big enough for both hands in the front center on the outside and no other pockets and the basic shape was squared rather than rounded. Guess I just "dated" my self with those comments. LOL I like the style of your garment (except for the front opening). Will send you a pic when it is finished.
