Basically Aquitect’s Will + Mystic Sanctuary would draw your whole Library. Edit: Whoops that don't quite work, unless you had something like alhammarret's archive on the table.
@@NeoDMC you sure that works? Since the copy trigger would resolve first. I i think you can't stack it in a way that would let you loop it. Also doesn't sanctuary put it onto the top of library? So you would always draw the cantrip.
@@lefloidNemesis if the sanctuary is untapped, you can use it to play the cantrip retrieved by the sanctuary, and if it can target the sanctuary again, draw a card and cost 1 blue mana, then you can loop.
The 'Changeling' keyword matters in some cases. I would totally slap this into a wizard deck. Also, a pretty busted setup would be simic with Mystic Snake and Frilled Mystic. Just target them with a 1 CMC spell (hopefully a cantrip) to counter a spell.
Something to consider with Archaomancer is that Orvar's trigger is on cast, so the copy of mancer will come out while the original spell is still on the stack so I don't think you can pull back the same spell. This does however mean that you can make an infinite army of Naru Meha that has already been resolved. Naru Meha with a Ghostly flicker can make infinite artifact, creature, and land copies.
This is almost like having Panharmonicon in the Command Zone. Snap + Archaeomancer = Infinite ETBs (And Mana, with a Mana Doubler or Lotus Field). Twiddle is ramp. So are Magical Hacks if you target fetches. So are Awaken cards. Whim of Volrath + Fetchland = 3 mana repeatable ramp at instant speed. If you want to go Voltron Hidden Strings and Trait Doctoring are -THE- cards for you. Yes this works with Cryptic Command. Strangely Arcane spells work as a subtheme. Most splice combos you'd want can go infinite and the ones that don't are chaos or just nasty. Most of the spells by themselves are just free value. Note that unlike most tokens token copies of creatures still have mana symbols so Nykthos and other devotion synergies are good payoffs (master of waves in particular for combining with those magical hack spells. Cerulean Drake is the only other creature worth considering). This is probably the only way you're gonna get High Tide Storm to work.
Mitch, you forgot about Eye of the Storm (straight broken here). And consider Archaeomancer + Cackling Counterpart (it's like free buyback on that card + you get another instant/sorcery back). Swarm Intelligence isn't that much behind in riduculing that commander even more.
Swarm intelligence doesn't work as you are not "casting" the copy the wording on our guy here states that you need to both cast and target. Eye of the swarm is good but just keep in mine that opponents get to cast those cards as well and if someone puts a wrath under it they can just keep wiping you using your own card (also it's 7 mana and does nothing the turn it comes down)
@@Frostgiantbutsmall I did. I don't talk about my Gonti deck. It was super toxic. The euphoria you experience when your opponent is looking for their game winning piece and they stare at you, realizing they don't have it. Chef's kiss.
It would be good with all the clone creatures that enter as copies of creatures on board. Have spark double copy your commander to get extra triggers and to start a clone commander army would be amazing It would also make an interesting mill deck as most of the good mill cards for commander are permanents (Dreamborn muse, Mesmeric orb, jace's archivist, chancellor of the spires, court of cunning, etc.).
7:30 keep in mind that when you trigger make a copy archaeomancer from the cantrip cast, the token copy you just made cannot return the spell you cast because it hasnt resolved yet. What you need is at least 2 cantrips to make this loop work
Another important line of spells is bounce spells used defensively. If someone tries to murder a creature you can bounce it to hand making a copy and keeping the creature for later casting. It gets even nicer with like a run away together protect and revenge in one. Also based on prior deck techs I’m kind of shocked Mitch left out you can copy Keira way more effectively than the actual Keiga deck.
So I started brewing this recently just independently. I’m glad to see there are similarities between lists, some of the same cards, like Whim of Volrath, Archaeomancer, Rescue. I’d like to suggest from my own list Clockspinning, and Baral’s Expertise has become even more absurd; it already combos with Archaeomancer on its own as a repeatable loop by making sure one of your targets every time is Archaeomancer, but with Orvar you have the option of casting other spells from your hand instead while looping, or of making 2 Archaeomancers to return additional instants/sorceress. It’s so much value! Plus in my deck I’m running Spark Double, Helm of the Host, the Sakashimas... if you target your own lands with buyback spells you easily create infinite mana, which you can then use for infinite non legendary copies of Orvar or any other creatures you like. And if that wasn’t enough... I’m running also a few tribal cards, like merfolk and wizard anthem creatures. You get just one out like the one that gives +1/+1 and Islandwalk to other Merfolk and you just copy that over and over... you’ve suddenly got a giant board of merfolk. Crazy tribal AND copy commander
It actually goes exponential with Sakashima of a Thousand Faces. Copy your commander with Sakashima, cast a cantrip targeting Sakashima, make 2 more Sakashima. Cast another spell targeting Sakashima, make 4 more Sakashima, etc
sakashima seems like a perfect target, enters as a copy of your commander, then target sakashima and now you have 4 copies of your commander, do it again and now you have 8, 16, 32, etc... Then target whatever goofy blue enter the battlefield creature you wantand get that many copies of them... like getting 32 opposition agents.
So I'm adding this and Birgi to my Krark//Sakashima deck that already runs cards like Fists of the Anvil and Brute Force for some interesting times. Get copies even I fail since it still targets and casts (I believe).

Hey mitch, you may want to consider Sea Kings Blessing(from legends) for this deck as well, 1 blue to target any number of permanents you control and effectively do nothing but also duplicate your whole board seems pretty good
Gonna try an Izzet Standard deck with Orvar based around all those red spells that steal an opponent's creature for a turn. Steal an opponent's creature, use something like Witch's Oven to sac it, get a free copy.

You missed something, there is a seven mana version of archeomancer that brings back 2 instant/soceries that allows you to go infinite with crowd of fairys/peragrine drake and the like. It only takes two mana to accomplish.
Id actually consider adding a few shapehifters in this deck mainly Stunt double (for flash copys of opposing Beatsticks) Body double for pseudo-recursion of dead things and clever impersonator to copy the opposing enchantments/artifact so you can fill the board with them later.(these being if you have them or want to throw some money at them)
Okay, I personally think that this commander won't be too broken, it will be strong but a lot of decks have this sort of power. The commander itself is only a 3/3, draws removal like the plague and there is a lot of bricking potential with needing to balance high value permanents with 1 mana instants and sorceries. I'm definitely going to pick it up for my janky enemy clone tribal deck, getting so much support in the last few sets!
Willbreaker seems pretty strong here. Not only can you steal creatures with the spells you're already running, but you can copy your opponents' legendaries and ditch the originals! And if you already have multiple Willbreakers when you target their creatures, you'll keep them as long as ANY of those Willbreakers are around!
That thing is just insane... Either I build a deck around it, or I slide it into my Brudiclad deck for more tokens. I foresee an interesting association with Helm of the Host as well...
