Fly Fishing at Wimbleball Reservoir - The Return and avoiding Paddle Boarders!

- Back for my 2nd trip fly fishing at Wimbleball Reservoir, it was an early start and the weather was perfect but as lunchtime progressed Ruggs turned into Blackpool Pleasure Beach. Flies used were the Tequila Fab, Black Damsel and Green Damsel. Great day and I loved it but I'm not sure I'll return in summer, I think the other users of Wimbleball can enjoy it for now.

Good work man! Loved the film work on this. Had to drop a sub. Keep it up!
I appreciate that, thanks for watching 🙏
Kudos to you. I thought that looked a lovely place to fish. I’ll pop over and try it. Then the inconsiderate, thoughtless eegit paddle boarder appeared.
I’ll definitely wait until the weather is less family friendly to fish there again. Thanks for watching
well, you hooked up with some fair fish so overall I'd say it was a good day out! I’ve had everything from people tossing their dog’s ball into the pool with me for him to fetch to one woman yelling that she wanted me to do a better job clearing the trails and repairing a foot bridge- me: ‘mam, I don’t work here as you might guess by the fact that I’m standing in the water with a fly rod in my hand’.
On those days I try to remind myself we’re all sharing the space and using it in different ways.
I definitely had my chances of getting my bag limit. I don’t mind sharing the water just don’t get why folk can’t give me a bit of space if they are going to ignore the signs. I’ll return when the weather changes and no one is getting a sun tan! Thanks for watching 👍
Hi Paul, it looks ok until the hordes arrive but looking at the ticket price there I wouldn't put up with that situation I would rather be back on my river swinging some flies. Rivers very low here with nothing rising so time to try wet flies for the first time. cheers Mike
It is a beautiful place, I will probably fish other reservoirs as I do love the fight from the fish and I do like to eat fresh trout. The river will always be my first love though!
I was one of the carpenters that built the dam back in the late seventies.Never been back there as I have lived in Buckinghamshire for the past forty years. I’m new to fly fishing and just wondered if you think it’s worth me coming down for a couple of days . Look forward to your thoughts
Love the channel
Hi Noel. If it’s midweek then definitely give it a go. If it’s the weekend I’d suggest one of the other fisheries run by Wessex Water or South West Water. However for nostalgia I’d understand you wanting to fish at Wimbleball. If you do and fish Ruggs then park at the lower car park and walk round a little to avoid where I started, which was the first bank near the main car park for Ruggs. Thanks for watching

@@WestCountryAngler Thanks for your help. Keep up the good work. Great vids
are the paddle boarders allowed on the water
Hi Paul, they are but can only be launched from the sailing club. It was a hot day and I understand that people want the convenience of launching from there as it’s free parking, I just wanted them to respect where I was what I was doing. No chance of that 🤣
